Yeah I am wary. I don't use it anymore. My friends and parents don't use it anymore. I'm not going all in, but a little taste.

Berkshire sold off Amazon and Apple shares.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭PowerToWait

And Bill Ackman bought 3.8 million Amazon shares lately. Before the recent dip too. I don't think he's that bothered long term.

The trend is your friend..... big dip in tech at the moment... Who knows where it bottoms.

Bought a little CloudFlare around €187

Lot of software looking tempting right now. But surely MSFT at anything under $400 is a bargain.

Ires reit has had a bit of a jump over the last month. Also they announced that they will be investing in a new 71 apartment block in Naas, their first new investment since 2021

Big NVDA earnings today. I've no position but do have a reasonable enough position in the battered down Duolingo, who report tomorrow.

The biggest contributor to recent falls was a CEO stating at the last earnings call that they're planning to refocus on growth versus monetization in the short term.

Poor results from Paddy Power (flutter)

    Down almost 9% after hours.

Down 50% year to date and a whopping 65% from it's peak last August.

Does it now look like a sure bet? 😁

P/E of 7 based on full year profit before exceptionals. Looks like value to me.

Hopefully so. Taking a real tanking on this one now and have been in for many years on it.

The prediction betting apps (Polymarket, Kalshi etc.) have turned the betting app world upside down. They're able to circumnavigate the gambling ban in US states in a lot of weird ways e.g. play for incentives rather than money etc., that larger outfits can't. Expect the bigger players to get into that more. I've been invested in Draftkings for the last few years and they're tanking. Hopefully it hits a bottom soon.

My purchases so far for 2026:

    Berkshire Hathaway

    Cognex

    Flutter - already dropped :(

    Games Workshop

    kraken Robotics

    PayPal

    SalesForce

    Uber

(previously have: Axos Financial, Crocs, Kingspan, Lemonade, Lending Club, Philip Morris, Smurfit Westrock, Super Micro)

It seems I love a good turnaround story.. but doesn’t always work out!

Been a long term holder of Beazley Insurance, aswell as other Insurance stocks on Lloyd's have netted me significant gains. Call it dumb luck and good timing more than anything else.

Need a new spread of stocks as Beazley is getting bought out. Do you guys think of currency risk with USD? or just pick solid companies and look for capital growth regardless of currency.

Which platform ppl using to buy stocks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭Layne

Ali Baba stock looks tempting at the moment, down alot from ATH. Middle East conflict and oil supply concerns weighing on the stock. Stellar business with fingers in many pies.

Flutter is another one down alot. Concerns around prediction markets getting around gambling regulation in US. I would worry in that Flutter now has many more competitors in the US market than it had a year ago.

How do you people manage currency risk? I'm heavily exposed to the USD and CAD like everyone here I'm sure. Looking at the way things are going I'm more than slightly concerned about a 10 or 15% devaluation of the USD over the next decade. If we are buying today at 1.16 and it drops to 1.30 or further then obviously that's a major drag. Predicting currency fluctuations or even trends is notoriously difficult. But I can't say I'm confident the USD remains the safe haven considering what the current clown show has done to the reputation of the US.

A bit of a relief rally today, TBG 🙏

Things were starting to get worrying in the Littlevillage portfolio.

Nebius continues to roar ahead, up just the 14% today (43% YTD). Once again thanks to the tipster on this thread (2025 edition) who gave it a recommendation 👏

Yes getting excited about NBIS, up 43% compared to 8% if I had left it in the SMH ETF where I had my AI money, Facebook and Nvidia making large investments in the last month covering basically all their capex compared to all the competitors having to dilute the crap out of their investors for a fraction of the growth/expansion and no end in sight, wish Id trimmed my PLS and gone in harder now.

I use Degiro and Trade Republic. Degiro has a nicer user interface and better functionality. But charge €2 commission per trade and sometimes €3 per trade on stuff like ETF's. They don't pay any interest on cash balances, in fact they actually charge you interest if you have more than €1500 in your cash balance.

Trade Republic has a pretty bad user interface but charges only €1 commission per trade and obviously pays the ECB interest rate on any cash balance.

*Remember some stock exchanges charge stamp duty and other stuff as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,451 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

I think Degiro got rid of those charges on cash balances a while back and just pay token interest now.

Bloodbath for the rest of the week, anybody buying? google below 300 about the only thing I wouldnt be nervous of getting into right now.

TACO just as I typed that, a lot of analysts saying even if the war ended tonight its still one of the biggest energy shocks on record, there will have to be fallout from it.
