There's a little bit of instructions in relation to the written assessment within the sample practice tests on the links send to us via email.

Unfortunately, no sample questions, but basically it is something around leadership and what you would do in a situation.

I know for myself, I've tried to throw in a few bits and pieces into ChatGPT based on what people have said online just so I'm not going in totally blind.

Don’t feel prepared for it given the time constraints but hopefully it’ll be ok for someone without any leadership or real work/career experience.

Yes you’re correct. And there was some in the assessment that were “cannot say” too. Too many people are over thinking things, in the verbal assessment you could have all the options as “false” aswell.

There’s no point dwelling on something you can’t change. Focus on completing the remaining exams and see what happens.

thanks! I didn’t select false for all the 4 assumptions within any given question in the verbal.

I did it last night, was bored reading them by the last few lol leaving the written one to last, I find it much easier doing one per day, last comp I did all 4 in one sitting. The written one is pain tbh

would you email them and explain and see what they say?
Fingers crossed it goes ok for you

I competed SJ and Verbal on Monday. Time was an issue with verbal as I didn’t practice enough under the pressure whereas I had 10 minutes to spare with SJ.. but got it all done just wish I had time to review my answers for verbal.

Don’t say that about the written!! I am tackling it tonight and then the numerical on Friday or Saturday, depending how I feel.

Yep timing for me last night was an issue had about 2 mins left! The written is just annoying because it’ll only be used at interview but if you don’t hit 100 words you don’t even get assessed.

Completed situational today. Thought that was mostly ok.

    Completed verbal reasoning as well.
A few threw me a bit.

My brain was totally fried after it.

I think it’ll be the weekend before I get to the other 2 due to 2 hour commute , work, and wanting to see my children for a little bit before getting things ready for the next day. I’d be too tired to start into them 😅

Someone on reddit was saying we could only have a laptop and no external monitors, or a single monitor with a PC, something about how it's one device/one screen. This wasn't a requirement for AO as far as I could tell, I had an external monitor attached to my laptop. Does anyone else know if we can have a monitor and a laptop screen?

    Hi ,

Has anyone got any tips for doing the numerical test, I'm dreading it, I tend to over think them and lose time

    Ah crap sorry brains frazzled

Meant to say if your looking to add numbers quickly with a %

    74000 x 0.16 = 11840

    74000 x 1.16 = 85840

Anyone who did numerical feel the practice test on Public Jobs is enough to be prepared? If the questions are similar to that and only 9 are needed to pass, I’d feel confident.

At this stage, it’s too late to buy any test packages and I think they’re quite pricey.

About to start the essay now. Very worried for the time with this one and hate not feeling prepared.

I thought the 2026 practice was harder than the 2024 Actual test, I'm gonna have a crack at it tomorrow.

We only need 9 from 39?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 99 ✭✭Glitteringstar

Don’t be honestly if you only need 8 or 9 correct you’ll pass them if you get enough done within the time. Don’t spend ages on the longer ones focus on the easy ones. Doing the SJ tonight and written tomorrow sigh

I just completed the written task. It was honestly straight forward, the only problem was the time as I ran out of time like the verbal..

Unfortunately, I only got 338 Words which is definitely on the lower side. I only hit 100 words for the second part due to the time.

It was very roughly formatted and I was repeating a lot of what was in the brief..

Think it’s a little too low and vague to qualify at interview. I was struggling with what to say for part A but found part B way easier but didn’t get enough words in..

I’d say to anyone yet to do it to brush up on responding quickly/typing up emails and the language to use. Easy if you’ve been working in an office based position. The copy and paste buttons were annoying as hell. They really slowed me down as well.

The situation judgement practice and real was actually good for giving advice about what to do for the second part.

The maths timing can’t be any worse right? 😅

Only got as far as the 11/15 on the verbal reasoning but only had time to select one answer, could hear someone having a really loud phone call in another part of the house.

Got about 18 answered on the numerical one, hopefully that's enough, nowhere enough time to get them all answered.

Got all 15 of the Situational Judgement done so hopefully this was ok

Found the written assessment grand tbh, once you get into a flow and start typing it all just flows.

Going mad over the verbal reasoning but was afraid to shout upstairs, guess I'll just have to wait and see and not build my hopes up once again.

Just finished the SJT, had 15 mins to spare.. thought it was grand tbh, I have worked with EOs so I know how to answer majority, written tomorrow woohoo.

An email is such a basic thing. But looking back now. I made loads of formatting mistakes. In case anyone feels they ffd up with these assignments I wrote Hi instead of Dear for the first part.. mortified. Half asleep I was.

Glad from doing these tests that I know what to expect going forward and I’ll definitely prepare better with timing and structuring answers.

I totally blew the written exam, did the first part which was relatively straightforward BUT rather than clicking next I clicked submit DOH so I basically only completed half to the assignment!

Just finished all now. I found maths thre hardest, and I would say I am good with maths! Alot of reading and felt some wording was tricky, one question had a wrong year in the question I think so I skipped it. it 8 or 9 correct to pass this test?

    The written was fine.

SJ and VR just so hard to judge right answers sometimes but I tired.

Got average on the practice tests for these 2 so will see how this one goes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭Capyberna

Unfortunately, you need to answer both parts to progress. I don’t think I have 100 words (the minimum required) for the first part so not looking good either for me. It’s all a learning curve!

Anyone else having trouble with the webcam test, i tested it the other day and it was fine, went to check before I did the room scan and it's not loading, does it only let you check it once or is there something wrong with my laptop do you think. Camera working fine when I access it through settings etc so no issue there.
