No need for this. I don't wish injuries on any player.

Hard to know how much of last night was Galatasary being bad or us being on it but there was a distinct difference to our play last night that's been absent for most of the season.

We were front footed and went after Galatasary in a way we've rarely done this season. Whatever the reason I hope it's present Saturday lunch time against Brighton.

I think Isak should be in contention for the PSG tie, which will help. Would love Bradley to be back but that seems unlikely.

Philosophy was right in any case.

Tbh, the game could have gone either way with the Pen miss before HT but they put it to one side and came back out with the right attitude.

    A couple of observations:

Kerkez and Mac really set the tone early on in terms of pressing and tackling even if I still hope to see alot more quality from both.

Some other players could do with showing more aggression, Mo, Hugo and Grav at the very least.

Hugo came good in the end but when he is isolated, he doesn't seem to feel the need to press very hard and can be quite standoff-ish. He also doesn't seem to want to pass. We can expect long periods without the ball in Paris so might need to think about how to best deal with that.

God that's awful. No wonder he was woozy - think I'd have passed out just looking at it. Hope the surgery works out. Hope Anfield have a good look at how that happened and whether it was something with the barrier.

Oof I thought you were talking about Barcola for a second and didn't understand why you'd want him to be back! Luckily I think he's likely out of both legs

The energy last night was unmistakable. It was a feeling from the get-go that we would roll them over and that is more down to us than to them. One of the aspects though is that a better team would be able to put up more of a fight, and if we did concede, would we have maintained the same mentality, and be able to keep going. I'm not sure about that but it is possible.

The thing is though this has been a rare event this season, and the question becomes is it another false dawn, or can we maintain that momentum moving forward into the PL game at the weekend. If we are unable to do so, then I feel with the international break and the immediate difficult games when we come back against city and PSG the season can finally fall apart at the seams.

I honestly hope we can maintain the momentum though and close out the season well. Hope springs eternal I guess.

Maybe I'm using a bit of hyperbole here, and he has shown some good form before last night, but that terrier like attitude of Kerkez for the first 20 mins especially and throughout the night really could be his Robertson-Man City moment which kickstarted his Liverpool career.

He really did set the tempo and ensured that the crowd, and players, kept up the momentum.

Bradley's season is over. He is not expected to be fit to return to training until May at the earliest.

And he's time enough,no point rushing him back. Let him recover properly.

Kerkez put in a crazy Robbo like tackle in their half early on,set the tone

Gala were pants though,is not be getting carried away TBH

Galatasaray players, coaching staff, and the general Turkish football media are all making a big fuss saying last night's game was decided entirely by the ref, and that Liverpool just spent the whole game trying to injure people. I must've watched a different game.

The ref saved it not being 6-0

I'm struggling to think of contentious issues even. Osimhen getting injured was just unlucky (same with Lang, obviously)

    Otherwise what went against them?!

Apparently there was a stamp by Mac Allister on Yilmaz's ankle. Don't remember it but saw it written. Something about an elbow on Lemina too

They did seem to go down injured a lot in fairness.

I thought Kerkez was excellent, his end product needs to improve to be at Robbo level but he just set the tone and pace from the whistle last night.

Ekitike lads is some player, if you can iron out the inconsistencies he can be one of the best, if not the best striker in europe.

I thought this comment was quite funny considering the Turks like to use this phrase a lot.

By any chance are you an apple tart? (Jk)

That was genuinely the first time this season I saw a Liverpool team last night. Just went for it and my question is where is that attitude every game? That desire to make the first early pass or drive into midfield?

Is that on Slot or the players?

I'm genuinely confused because at times I think they aren't playing for him and then you watch games like this, Inter away, Madrid at home and they play as a team on the front foot.

I've said it all season, Wirtz needs to be starting off the left, let him roam around then. That's where he did his best work for Bayer

This is the problem, we don't know how much of it is on the manager or how much of it is on the players. But there is only ever one outcome if things go bad.

If Slot can get them to perform to this level for the remainder of the season, he'll be here next season, no doubt.

Ah yeah, he did catch one of them. Pretty sure that was given though, and there wasn't much to it.

I said the same thing last night. He is much better as part of a front 3, wherever he positions himself than stuck in midfield. The team is much better with 3 proper midfielders behind that front 3 also. We need proper physicality in the middle of the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,231 ✭✭✭Talisman

I can only imagine that they were referring to Alexis Mac Allister. 😂

He put himself about in the first half and was happy to leave his mark on Torreira and Lemina. Sallai was also shown a bit of love by both him and Kerkez. He was also responsible for bundling over their goal keeper. His overall performance merited a goal.

Finally the real Liverpool showed up. Hopefully they can keep this going till the end of the season and go on a good winning run, not just an unbeaten run. Be interesting to see which Liverpool turns up at Brighton on Saturday.

for all slot's failings , he was successful in holland ( yes i know )

but alot of this is down to the players aswell , he can drill a plan in place but if somebody can't be arsed to track back or be first to second balls that's on them imop

I loved last night and like many wondered why have we not been like this all season ? the lads wasted a season imop

show up like this and hound the opposition and we'd still be top of the league

Did we hear anything on Salahs injury?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,441 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Hopefully just him being precautionary. It's extremely rare to see someone like him come off, let alone ask to be subbed off.

Mo has 19 goal contributions this season stat doing the rounds on social media.

If ever a stat was misleading.

Scores against Bournmouth when the game is over in stoppage time.

    Peno against Burnley.

Newcastle assist was really Szobo's dummy.

Martinez passed him the ball for a relatively open goal against Villa.

    Takes corners?

I'm trying not to be too harsh but it doesn't really pass the smell test of people who watch him every week.
