I wondered the same thing, nothing on the site or insta. I would assume all 6 nations players travelled even if minutes are limited. Loughman was at the stadium on Saturday and didn't look too uncomfortable so hopefully he'll only be out a short while

With the disrupted travel plans I thought there might well be a reduction in the original travelling party

Disrupted travel plans - presume via Istanbul or Schiphol? They were travelling today I think.

Heard over the weekend that they were traveling via Istanbul.

If you are in Ire camp & play practically nothing are your club minutes still curtailed.

Take Casey for example...60 minutes played for Ire since his last Munster appearance, is he limited for a period of time?

Any idea when we will know who travelled?

probably tomorrow. will likely be some update on training etc down there

Few of them still around today anyway. Saw Ed Edogbo, Ahern, D Barron, Gleeson and a couple of others in town in Limerick before the parade.

Surprised Gleeson, EdEd and Barron didn't travel if true. Figured Ahern is still injured.

Was surprised to see them myself. All in Munster gear which you don't usually see in town when they're in groups so maybe about to travel.

Generally anyone who's been in Ireland camp will get a week off no matter how many minutes they played. They've been in camp for 8 weeks. So it wouldn't surprise me is Edogbo, Farrell and Casey didn't travel until next week with the other internationals.

So it turns out they flew SNN-LHR-JBG-DUR and arrived this afternoon. They were due to fly Monday, but one of the connections got cancelled.

There's no mention of the traveling squad, but team will be announced a noon tomorrow.

Far from ideal travel logistics, they'll be wrecked and it'll have impacted training prep

better to be playing the Sharks this week at sea level than the bulls at altitude

True but I'd love to have a proper chance against Sharks, we've never beaten them in SA and kinda own them one after the penalty shootout last year

Swings and roundabouts really. If the Gulf was still an option it would have been a bus ride to DUB for a flight to Doha and then to JBG before flying on to Durban.

The LHR-JBG leg was overnight, so they would have been able to sleep.

Munster squad for SA confirmed, with Crowley, Casey, Loughman travelling separately (and presumably later) than the other 28.

Backs: Craig Casey, Ethan Coughlan, Paddy Patterson, Jack Crowley, JJ Hanrahan, Tom Farrell, Dan Kelly, Alex Nankivell, Seán O’Brien, Shane Daly, Mike Haley, Calvin Nash, Ben O’Connor.

Forwards: Michael Ala’alatoa, Jeremy Loughman, Michael Milne, John Ryan, Kieran Ryan, Josh Wycherley, Diarmuid Barron, Lee Barron, Niall Scannell, Tom Ahern, Edwin Edogbo, Jean Kleyn, Fineen Wycherley, Gavin Coombes, Seán Edogbo, Brian Gleeson, John Hodnett, Alex Kendellen.

No Jager probably the big notable absence.

Can't remember the last injury update: are Quinn and JOD injured or just not travelling?

Reckon we'll see a lot of Ahern at 6 based on the profile of the back rows selected

No Kilgallen, Abrahams, Andrew Smith, Beirne, O'Donoghue, Quinn, Jager, Salanoa, Butler, Evan O'Connell.

I know some of them have been injured.

TH is the real headscratcher for me. I thought Salanoa and Jager had made some tentative steps back towards training and availability but they are simply not being risked and have not been risked for some time which suggests there are some concerning injury issues to contend with there.

Seems like a strong team with really only Casey and Crowley to come into that. Looks like we are targetting this game rather than next week at altitude.

Great to see Sean Ed getting more game time...of the 2 Edogbos I'm more excited to see him playing & he's an 80 minute player as well.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,465 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

I don't know about that. I think we'll be even stronger next week with those two back.

salona at this stage think we can take it he is done ….played in 2 games for nenagh in autumn and not a whisper since bar that he was going to work with people in the high performance Center in Dublin …..jagger has been frustrating az well can’t get run of games with constant niggling injuries ….we simply can’t stay carrying both these in a position which we are very short on quality options

who goes to 10 if needed? Coughlan?

Yeah I'd say Salona is done and he has missed so much time. Wouldn't be surprised if Jager retires aswell with all the concussions he had. He is just never available for any length of time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,785 ✭✭✭50HX

Alot of chatter pre X mas in Limerick that Jager was to retire at end of season due to repetitive head injuries going back to Crusaders time as well.

Salanoa was reportedly in a fitness bootcamp in Sports Ireland campus back in November but no word of anything since tje Nenagh Ormond games

But then Jager came back and played a game in February and injured in his leg?
