It's all there for ye, the league is more or less done, City are going to continue to drop points, so the pressure will be off. League Cup I think ye can bully City, they are not the team they were a few years ago, but, in a one off game anything can happen. Champions League, ye have a kind draw, should get over Leverkusen, have a very good chance to get to final, Barca the main obstacle, but, I'd make Arsenal favourites to dominate them physically, hard to know who'll get through from the other side, Madrid and PSG most likely, Madrid just know how to win CL, so a massive danger. The FA cup, another kind draw, so should get to the semi finals. Also if ye can tie up the league early, ye will be able to fully concentrate on the cup competitions.

Will be difficult of course, but, things are falling nicely for Arsenal, kind draws in CL and FA cup, City's title challenge running out of steam, momentum is on your side now, unlikely to be in this kind of position again (going so deep in all 4 competitions), so make the most of it and enjoy, it can turn very quickly!

Agreed, the first trophy will unleash the team. The fear of missing out will be gone.

Im quietly confident but the league is not done in any way. Most commentators are saying its going to probably take between 88-92 points to win the league this year.

And theres a lot of football in between to be played. Heres our run in:

    image.png

The City game is the big danger game for both team as its potentially a 6 pointer game if we win.

West Ham is still a long way off, but have hit very good form at home and fighting relegation.

But hopefully we will have the league won (or can win it) for our last home game against Burnley. Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride.

    Edit: amended fixtures

City can only get 85 Points, so 86 points wins it no matter what City do. City will continue to drop points, so I'd say 80 points will be enough to win it, certainly no more than 82 Points. In almost every title race there comes a point where the chasers have realistically too much to do, might still mathematically be possible, but, every one knows it's all over, we are very close to thar point.

Bang on. I had that figure stuck in my head from a few weeks back, but City unexpectedly dropped points 2 games in a row.

5 wins if city go perfect

    city won’t go perfect

Just to be pedantic, if City win all their remaining games then 5 wins for Arsenal leaves both on 85 so that wouldn't guarantee anything either.

I think we will have a much clearer picture after the Etihad game. City play at Stamford Bridge the week before, any slip up would be very welcome.

There is also champions league that week, so rest days could play a role.

    Too many variables still…

Upcoming gigs and events: Dry Cleaning, The Shawshank Redemption, Sprints, These Charming Men, Sasha Velour, Disorder Festival, David Byrne, The Cure, Garbage, Bob The Drag Queen, Sigur Ros, Olafur Arnalds, Cabaret Voltaire, Angine de Poitrine, Cardinals

Injury updates from Arteta's presser: Trossard available for selection, but Odegaard & Timber ruled out of CL against Leverkusen, but possibly available for Carabao Cup final.

I think Odegaard poses a selection dilemma given his recent form, lack of game time and given the whats at stake over the weekend.

Already played Wolves twice, dropped two points at the death in Moleneux.

Playing City in the EFL final on Sunday.

I reckon Martinelli starts on left tonight with a view to Trossard starting against City.

if city get knocked out of CL then there’s a chance their game in hand, home v palace will be brought forward so at least can get that out of the way and stop having to consider the game in hand all the time

Also dependant on Palace losing to larnaca on Thursday which is very possible of course.

think that's actually working in arsenals favour, it's keeping them at a distance, any closer & it increases the pressure more. playing first too either side of the city game, which should help.

Merson said something after the wolves game i think, that sky would play a big part in who wins the title by deciding on who plays first. be interesting to see what happens with the fixtures in may. though all those TV slots have quotas so they can't automatically put them exactly where they want.

anyway the way city seem to be failing to put teams away, 4 wins should do it maybe even 10 points

Yeah I kinda want Man City to get through their tie with Real Madrid. Would actually like them to get to the semi final and then get knocked out. More fixtures for them the better and I agree with Batistuta about the game in hand working in our favour. The bigger the gap the better for as long as we can.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day guys, have a great day. I'm off to work soon but will be back just in time for the Leverkusen game. COYG

big week & for some reason I've a feeling of the second half of the Wenger years about it

Yeah massive game tonight. Could easily go out if we're not careful. Would be such a shame and a missed opportunity. Hopefully the lads do enough tonight.

Carabao cup id obviously like to win, but tonight is much bigger than that one. If I had to choose, im picking tonight ahead of Sunday.

Also City have potential for 3 matches to be rearranged still…. us two games.

There are league games on the same time as FA Cups semis and final.

If we get through tonight and beat the Saints it could be an insane run of games until end May

All of us should be shouting for City to overcome Real Madrid. Them having no midweek games gives them a huge advantage if we do progress

city to go through and ourselves to win and do the same is clearly the best outcome

In general I agree…… To slightly counter though it might give them a big confidence boost going into Sunday and the run in

50/50 - I think them going through would be great in terms of loading them with difficult extra ties, but...

I'd worry that it might give them some sense of belief as well to overcome Real... Whatever is the most likely result to continue to demoralise them is what I want!

Not a chance are city overturning a 3 goal deficit. So ideally another defeat tonight to dent their confidence further wouldn't be bad before Sunday.

Either way they'll have less midweek games after tonight as they'll be out. Just hope we dont sleepwalk into something similar and go out and kill the tie without too much drama.

Funnily enough we dont seem to function without drama this year so expecting a game similar to the Everton one.
