Got up over 13C here near Tralee earlier but back to 10.1C now in showers and strong breeze, light patches in the sky , hopefully cloud will clear away later.

Twenty years ago today wasn’t a white Patrick’s Day but there were light snow flurries on the east coast. I remember how bitterly cold it was at the parade, couldn’t be more different to todays almost summer like weather.

Drizzly and blustery but mild (12c) St Patrick's Day in Limerick City. I'll stay indoors today.

I can see the sun is out in Dublin with blue skies. Cloudy mild and blustery in Meath. Hopefully holds dry for my local parade at 3pm. The rain doesn't look too heavy on the radar so far but would be a nuisance all the same for parades. Strong bucks needed to hold up the banners in that breeze.

    Happy St Patrick's day everyone.

Was absolutely tipping down earlier on here in Ballina but has brightened up a fair bit…

Never ceases to amaze me how all weather in Ireland is local. I appreciate from the above posts that mine wasn't an experience common across the country but in Dublin at least we watched two full parades yesterday - one being the Dublin City parade, in lovely 13 degree temps blue skies and no rain. Had to take the coat off was too warm. The odd gust of wind but it wasn't cold wind. Makes a pleasant change - at the parade last year the cold wind cut you in half. Lovely for the kids to experience a nice spring St Patricks day.

Yes the Wicklow mountains shadow effect was in full flow yesterday. Very noticeable on the coast in North Dublin where it was a beautiful sunny day but could see the clouds inland.

Well the weather was typical for the parade. No rain until 1.00pm then it started. Parade at 2.00pm. Rain stopped at 4.00pm. Cold wind. Horrible conditions.

    Ah well.

Got away with it in Cork City. Parade was 1pm to ca. 2.45pm. Rain started at about 3.15pm. Great that no one got wet during the parade as huge amounts of kids and tourists were there

I escaped the rain in my part of Meath for the parade at 3pm. Cloudy and windy with a strong breeze. The rainband did break up and fizzled by the time is reached the east. Dublin got really lucky with beautiful parade weather.

The GFS performed quite well in predicting the weather 10 days out. Thankfully the rain was not as heavy or as widespread as shown on some earlier outputs. The ECM toyed with high pressure being in place in time for paddy's day giving widespread dry and sunny weather. It then backed off the idea and lined up with the ECM.

That's it for another year. All eyes on the summer of 2026 ?
