    Safe flights @Jude13

We cleared the mortgage about 3 years ago, but bumped the pension contributions accordingly so didn't get any extra cash. But its a lot easier to not make a voluntary contribution than mortgage payment so that weight is gone. Nice feeling. In another year ill be finished my masters and can get a fulltime job and then we'll have extra cash. Looking forward to it, although 2 in third level will eat into it a bit 🙄

Nice relaxing Mother’s Day with a lovely roast dinner that I cooked to end out the day. Feeling Christmas Day kinds of full now.

Had an up & down mothers day, had managed to call up to my own mum Saturday evening as knew I'd be busy Sunday and that was really nice to spend some time with my Mum & Dad who are both really getting old now.

Yesterday started okay but we had a bit of argy bargy after our match as two of the lads (1 from each team) decided to carry the niggle that was going on between them in the game into a full on trading of blows… ended up with their entire sideline turning it into a free for all which despite the best of intentions to de-escalate the whole thing led to 'peacemaker' here being assaulted by one of their sideline whilst trying to calm the situation down… thankfully there was witnesses and I reported it to the gardai but in reality nothing will happen and they told me as much. Never felt so low after a match as i drove home, when you give so much of your valuable spare time to a team and to have to deal with nonsense like that It does make you question why you bother. Some people are just animals and really should know better around childrens games.

The irony is that we'll be in the same venue with that team again next Sunday for the feile finals, so fingers crossed there's no repeat of the battle royale of yesterday as I think i'd just walk away if it did.

After that drama we went to visit my MIL in her nursing home & had a nice couple of hours with her, then home & I cooked a roast chicken dinner, stuffing, roast veg, roast potatoes & even managed some bread sauce too… delish!!

Was meant to be off today but am so busy have decided to cancel it & work instead, hopefully take the pressure off for the second half of the week.

Hope everyone else (especially the mammy's) had a more relaxing & less dramatic day than me yesterday anyway!!

    That's absolutely awful.

You will be unsettled after that for a while.

I really wonder about the mentality of people who behave like that in public in front of their kids....God only knows what "behind closed doors" is like.

Look after yourself and try to put it behind you.

Need to start employing bouncers at some of these games now.

Sorry to hear that @DvB that was a horrible thing to happen. Some people are just completely thankless and have no respect for anything or anyone.

    God almighty @DvB that's mental!

Roughly what age group was that😱

My son played for a few years but only when it wasn't competive and he has given it up now because it was getting too serious and he wasn't enjoying it and he is only 9!

i had a nice relaxing mother's day spent with my family and my parents although yesterday it really hit me that my parents are getting old, so that was hard😮.

Sorry to hear about your trouble after that match @DvB , some parents need lifetime bans from side lines at games. Don't like tarring people with the same brush, but have been going to games for years and it's the usual suspects who do the mouthing at kids sports. I find a lot of the noisier ones over the years were the ones who never bloody played the sport that they are now an expert at.

Never understand why the Guards don't take a more active role when assaults happen on side lines.

    And on a happier subject.

HAPPY PADDY'S DAY to everyone on here, hope you have a good one ☘️

We'd the same experience. Neither of us are heavy into sports. We would have tried various things over the years but no sporting "bloodline" .

So for us it was a widen the kids social circle and maybe their coordination.

Others were very much in it to win it.... thinking they were the next Messi or something 🙄 sucks the fun out of it.

    Under 15s so just 14 /15 year old's playing.

Been told the ref included it in his report to the Dublin county board after our club chairman spoke to him so they'll not come out of that well as they tend to come down hard on sidelines that lose control.

Either way, am moving on, even if I see the scumbag on Sunday I'll be totally ignoring him. People like that dont deserve the oxygen.

    @CheerLouth how you feeling now?

@DvB thats awful, hopefully next week goes smoothly.

@Jude13 did ye manage to get out ok?

I had a great day on Sunday for my first Mother’s Day, my goddaughter (13) laid out presents for me and her mam and then made us breakfast. I then dropped the baby down to my dad and went out for the day with my mam, sister and aunts.

Went to see Sombr yesterday and my goddaughter ditched us to meet up with her cousin (my nephew) and me and her mam we left there feeling old not knowing most of the songs 😂😂

Happy St Patrick’s Day all ☘️

@Princess Calla in knots laughing at your post. That's were we went wrong we have no sporting 'bloodline' either🤣.

Thankfully my son has three other activities a week to keep him interested, my friend was amazed he has so much choice because in rural area its was the local team or nothing.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone, just back from parade, got lucky with weather windy but mild and dry.

Bowling booked for afternoon as the 4 year old said he wants to show everyone his face painting🤣

@kitten_k ah that's so sweet, very thoughtful goddaughter!

Glad your enjoyed your first Mother's Day. Fair play to your dad! Mine would be good with the grandkids but won't know what to do with a small baby😁

Ah he was so excited, first grandchild in 9 years! They had her overnight so I got a rest. I stayed there too but was under order that I was not allowed up during the night 😂

Well St. Patrick's might have driven the snakes away but we had our own drama with animal world this afternoon!

After a busy day we were relaxing in sitting room and I heard a rustling noise. To say I nearly lost my life would be an understatement( I have a huge phobia of mice/rats)

Anyway on it went but my husband said straight away that's a bird but I just thought he was saying that. I jumped across couch and shot into kitchen while my husband and 4 year old investigated😁.

Turns out he was right, somehow a starlng had got stuck down the chimney(we dont't use it and have a chimney ballon). They eventually freed him and around the sitting room he went and then out the window. The 4 year old is delighted he saved him😁

Ah that's great- poor starling; I'm glad it ended well for him!

Hope everyone had a good Paddy's Day and long weekend if you were able to take Monday off. We had a lovely weekend - busy as always but really enjoyed Paddy's Day yesterday. Great fun in at the parade in Drogheda & then went in for a quick drink with my sister & her family. Couldn't tell you when I was last in a pub on Paddy's Day but we did well to get a seat & the kids were delighted to be listening to the music and filling their bellies with crisps and ice cream 😅 What's rare is wonderful and all that 😍
