My order went in on 11th November, but it’s through Ayvens as a lease rather than a direct purchase.

I thought I’d probably have the car by now. I rang Tesla, but they said they need the RN number to check the order. I only have the Ayvens order number, so they couldn’t look anything up.

Apparently with lease cars you don’t see anything in the Tesla app, and you only get invited to the app a day or two before collection.

Ayvens also can’t give me an exact date yet the only thing they’ve said is estimated delivery WC 9/3/26.

Just wondering if anyone else here ordered through Ayvens and how long it took before they got a collection date?

Is there any difference between this new car in inventory and the same model y purchased from the main link to model y? €5 in difference but is it an older spec or same?

It's exactly the same as new car order, probably on same boat or cancelled order. Just an extra €2097 for Diamond Black

They are trying to sell 252 demo premium short range m3's for 44k as "new cars".

But you can order a new long range rwd for 45k or 48k in red.

Like they haven't even baked in any depreciation to the 44k price. What kind of a lunatic is going to buy it at that price

Seems crazy alright, what were they new, about €40k?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 456 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

I'm not sure but that premium short range isn't available to buy new anymore from what I can see and a new long range is practically the same price and it would be a 2026 reg.

Their sales approach just seems so weird at times.

I know the base premium rwd last year was under €38k because I have one!😁

These cars were registered to Tesla, so were not eligible for the €3500 grant.

But agree that they are too expensive for a private buyer, there are also about 4k worth of extras which they expect to recoup on a second hand car..

Just a gentle reminder, if you want to avail of the €3.5k trade in boost you need to order by March 31st and Tesla should/will honour the trade in for next delivery window which is May because they can't deliver to you by March 31st.

If on the fence just put a deposit down, it can be refunded if you change your mind, use a referral also

Did salesperson tell you it can be refunded? I was only told you can push it out by 22 days up to 3 times. I'm closing on a property purchase so held off throwing down a deposit but will put it down tomorrow. Taking the Model 3 this evening for overnight test drive.

Note the sales person said the Iran war is leading to production delays. The M3 comes from Beijing but the Model Y comes from Germany. I'm thinking of holding off picking it up until July if possible so it a 262 Reg but it's not the end of the world if it's May/June when I collect.

The sales folk can often be out of the loop, it's well covered here that all that is required for a deposit refund in a properly worded email

Remember that if you defer collection for whatever reason then you are put to the back of the queue again. It can of course work to your advantage sometimes. Tesla will honour original agreement, unless specifically stated otherwise such as the Trade-in bonus.

Yes on the refund they must under eu law under distance selling regulations.

However I had a Tesla sales rep send me an email regardless saying I would get a refund if I wasn't happy with the trade in as a back up.

On the next delivery window does anyone have a handle on when it may be realistically? The app is showing 8th May to 31st may currently.

Have been told the same. if the trade in value changes over the waiting period for the new car and you are not happy with the new value then they will process a deposite refund quite quickly. The reality now is they have more customers than stock, so no pressure.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,873 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

The App is more reflective of reality versus what the Dublin sales folks will tell you, historically May/June for Q2

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,873 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

…and existing trade in values will expire before May delivery slot…..

Just back home now and I put a deposit on the long range version. I asked about refund and was told only if you apply for finance and are rejected.

I can still change my mind on new model to buy an existing stock model or if I wanted to change from long range model.

However, I think need to go with long range. I was not aware that 2026 standard model has so much stripped out and just a price reduction of €1000.00.

No rear screen ( important for me for my non verbal special needs daughter)

Cloth at seating sections which I don't like as I know my daughter will spill her milk bottle and will be difficult to clean.

No lighting rim that goes all around the car (gimmicky but poor form of Tesla to remove from standard)

Also less an issue for me but no heating in rear seating.

I took standard for test drive last night from

    swords to balbriggan (19km)

    From Balbriggan to Carlingford and back (84km x 2 = 168 km).

    Total 187 km

It was at 97% when given to me and was at 48% when I parked up home last night.

It's a very impressive car and I like the feature that I can press a button and it keeps it in lane on motorway and brakes as needed.

Bad points for the auto pilot:

It was raining heavy on way back. It popped up to say lane manouvers we're not possible and some cameras were blocked. It briefly popped up that the auto brake had stopped working and before this message it looked to be accelerating in left lane towards a truck. It did not appear to be slowing down so I took control and hit the break to slow it down.

When driving back to swords to drop off, it seemed confused and didn't change lane. On a roundabout it looked to be pushing towards right lane.

So my personal experience is that for FSD to exist reliably it would need to be improved upon a lot. Perhaps mine needed a software update or some other features set I was not using but personally it's all a bit gimmicky.

I still think it's good value for the premium look and features of Tesla compared to its competitors. For me the unusually deep and wide boot at the front suits my daughter's special needs buggy which other EVs do not.

The difference between FSD and what you saw, which was basic autopilot, is night & day.

You pay for the full fat version, which is excellent.

basic auto pilot wont change lanes for you was that what you were trying? or had you indicated?

I had indicated but I didn't see anything pop up. When on the M1 motorway I had the button pressed on to stay in lane and GPS on it set to Tesla in Swords. I think it turned off to take the exit for swords but stayed in left lane instead of going to correct lane on the right.

Perhaps with more experience I could trust it more but it didn't appear to be reliable or safe.

i doubt it, basic autopilot doesn't drive to your destination unless i am missing something? Maybe you have enhanced auto pilot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 758 ✭✭✭This is it

I had a demo car as a loan for a few days and it had FSD but obviously disabled being set to European region. Didn't try EAP other than for self parking, which was pretty cool.

Would high quality rear seat covers from the likes of a taxi- supply company and a proper tablet holder and iPad not be a cheaper way of getting your needs? Seat cover can be near upholstery standard, and iPad far exceeds Tesla rear screen, and a eye-level.

LED lighting can be got too from Internet.

Its just you seem content with range of standard/rwd. Another 7 grand for long range premium.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,324 ✭✭✭lightspeed

Well the one I test drove had the enhanced autopilot active. If you press the button on steering wheel should it turn off motorway to your exit and move into lane if it's clear to do so?

If you press it on approaching a roundabout does it try steer on the round about or get in lane,?

It felt quite stiff when in autopilot but this didn't bother me much on motorway.

When I got off the motorway into swords a car pulled out down the road ahead of me and Tesla slowed nearly to a complete stop. The distance was quite long so it seemed excessive. Is say the car behind was thinking why is this lad braking with nothing in front of him. I would assume if FSD was available here it would be set to have better judgement.

Yes its worth considering but seemed a bit more hassle and I'd be weary of violating the warranty. I could live without the lighting trim and will need to get covers for the back as my daughter will kick the kids out of it and will regularly be covered in sand from the beach.

I know you can get custom screens out in same section in the rear but I think this would violate the warranty.

I prefer the seats in the standard vs the original M3, and I put them on a par with the premium Highland/Juniper seats IMO. The material is still good quality and they are very supportive, heated, and electrically moveable. In the Irish climate you spend many months of the year wishing you had anything but fake leather seats anyway.

Plenty of manufacturers are putting fabric/pleather or fabric-only seats into their upper trim cars to appear more premium and offer something different.

The ambient light strip is mostly a gimmick and many owners have long since turned theirs off. Feedback on the rear screen was that it's too far away for kids used to holding a phone 30cms from their face (or less) so it wasn't used anywhere near as often as Tesla perhaps thought.

The fabric roof is barely visible from the front seats of the car, and really only changes the experience of rear seat (adult) passengers, so if that's not your use case…

Potential to allow water into the frunk is perhaps a more serious design change, then again we don't have any feedback just yet on whether this is actually a thing.

Question for anyone that traded-in a junker to secure the Q1 trade in bonus - did you have to show an NCT cert at any stage? Either at order time or at subsequent handover?

Have a situation where a cert is mislaid, but the disc exists and the expiry can be easily verified on the nct website etc.

I brought my cert with me to the collection centre, they didn't ask for it. The disc on the windscreen was all they glanced at. But easy for them to check, as you state.
