Another reputed one million watt transmitter is the Trans World Radio operation in Armenia. Can be heard with a strong signal in Ireland in the evenings. On 1377 kHz, in between Manx Radio and the Lithuanian transmitter.

I think there is a low power Dutch station on 1440 so maybe Energy were testing on 1431. I believe Daniella will be returning to 1206 Khz.

The Weekend Music Radio programme last weekend included 15 minutes or so of material from Sunshine 539 from 1980. The programme is 2 hours long, and that segment starts at around 1 hour. It is on their website. The 2 hours, a new one every weekend gets repeated on various frequencies.

I am convinced Energy was never on 1431. Maybe someone listening when that segment was on could have thought they were listening to a live Irish pirate?

It was mid-morning last Saturday around Nutgrove when I could not pick up anything properly on 1440kh but the car radio scanned to 1431kh. It was definitely still there around lunchtime. It was the usual automated (not live) music from Energy, including id. I think I had heard the sequence of songs on a previous occasion, i.e. same automated music. Maybe it was only a temporary testing arrangement (as per Orban6's post) and Energy reverted to 1440kh subsequently. I was not listening to * Medium Wave later on Saturday. *Edit: with the possible exception of Manx Radio AM on 1368kh with Radio Caroline North for a brief period in the afternoon.

210 metres. A local station based in Reading, England which had that MW frequency actually named itself from its wavelength, Radio 2-1-0. (even though modern radio dials were to be in kHz - or 10s of kHz on MW/LW instead of metres) . The frequency was also affected by being alongside the then powerful Radio Luxembourg nighttime service, so if there was a hope they might be able to move to a better frequency on MW, it did not make sense to name the station as it was!. The name even carried over for a while to when the station became FM-only (with Classic Gold on MW), though becoming "Two-Ten FM" instead of 2-1-0"

The formula is based on the speed of light in kilometres per second, which is also the speed radio waves travel at. A shorthand of 300,000 is used, but the exact figure is slightly less. 208 metres works out at 1441.31 kHz

1593 kHz Kiss AM has been on all day. When I checked just now it is the best I have heard it on the North West SDR's and the one in Castlebar. I was in the North last Saturday, and it was there on the car radio to around half way between Newry and Banbridge.

I picked up automated oldies music on 1206 kh around Dublin yesterday. There was no ID between songs but presumably it was Radio Danielle. They did not seem to be on today, and no sign of Energy Power AM this weekend when I was listening.

I notice the Radio Farda transmission on 13755 kHz is not being jammed when I checked just now. Maybe the jamming transmitters were bombed? There is a station on 1611 kHz today playing non stop music, no announcements. Fairly strong with me.

Speaking of Jamming, serious jamming was going on last night on the Irish Amateur Radio weekly news broadcast at 8PM Tuesday over several VHF/UHF repeaters (2m/70cms) . Someone in the south-east of Ireland seemingly responsible. Either blanking out the newsreader with just carrier, or playing back couple of second long recordings of people in a repeating loop a few times. Not a once off, this seemingly a semi regular activity on these Tuesday 8PM amateur radio news affecting several repeaters . A ham radio operator last night tried to make light of the situation by saying the person responsible has callsign "0IQ" (Zero IQ)

Newstalk in Cork City is on 107.4, Newstalk doesn't broadcast anywhere on 104.0 as far as I know.

no sign of any Newstalk transmission on 1040 along the same road a bit after 10pm last night, just other weak signals (CRY). Nothing unusual with 104.0 today - only thing unusual was Newstalk on 106.4 (Corran mt, Co.Cork) being off the air, but is now back on within the past 20mins or so

Seems like work was done. Red FM 105.7 from same spot has title info again (albeit breaking the RDS standards due to not switching A/B but we'll forgive them for now…) Newstalk 106.4 from there is plagued with bad RDS blocks, when I was down last the car would sit on NEWS for a solid minute before displaying NEWSTALK….
