He has no shame, ordering NATO to defend the US

    This just in...

    "Acting the eejit justifies execution."

    More as this story develops...

What evidence do you have that she tried to kill a federal agent?

It was a factual comment it wasn't a point of view

Acting the ejit in front of "officers" in the USA can get you executed

Trump now threatening a "very bad" future for NATO if members do not help to clear up the mess he has created at the Straits of Hormuz:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/16/strait-of-hormuz-australia-japan-no-ships

Were it not for the fact that prolonged closure of the Straits would be a disaster for Europe and the wider world, one would be tempted to tell DJT to go f**k himself.

However maybe the best response to such a transactional president would be to say "OK, provided you give us full support in helping Ukraine". Remember all the fuss about "quid pro quo" a few year ago? 😁

Micheál Martin before heading off on his St. Patrick's Day hollier to the US, left his backbone hanging up back home in his wardrobe. He won't be needing that whilst placating and kissing Donald's ring. He probably wouldn't have got it through customs, or security at The White House anyway.

Yeah, because I'm sure you would tell Trump what's what.

Never mind that by doing do you are putting the livelihood of the entire nation at potential risk.

Never mind that all prior evidence shows that standing up in the scenario get you nowhere but the full blast abuse from the WH and the press.

You want Ireland to go to the WH, while they are at war, and tell them we think their leader is an ar5ehole and if he doesn't cop himself on then.......

It was at least partially a joke. I'm aware the elections are a state affair, which of course can bring its own shenanigans.

They don't need to. All they need to do is to stop Trump bombing Iran. Problem solved. Nato countries should be taking action against the US to protect their oil supplies. Because that's exactly what the US would do.

You're doing all the talking there, including putting words in my mouth. Also...

"Never mind that by doing do you are putting the livelihood of the entire nation at potential risk."

Do you see the irony in your statement? Trump and Israel are putting the lives of the entire region of the Middle East at potential risk.

As well as causing financial pressures on ordinary people all around the world, through increased fuel prices. That will eventually spread to increased prices on everyday household goods the longer this war goes on.

That's a big swing from other polls which showed it close enough but always with the GOP ahead. The Dems winning Ohio would be pretty seismic, as it would suggest other close-ish races like Alaska, Iowa and Nebraska (even Texas?) could swing their way.

Trump must be hung out to dry he is working with Europe's enemy Russia, whose is an ally of Iran to engage in finacial opportunities to enrich his crime family

NATO is supposed to be a defensive alliance, not a team of crusaders.

It's fantastic to see countries basically ignoring Trump's increasingly desperate pleas. The Yanks haven't escorted any ships yet themselves. Let's see them do it first.

This war will be increasing domestic pressure against him. Americans did not want another foreign war (he promised to avoid these as part of America First) and Americans are very sensitive to price fluctuations, particularly at the 'gas pump' (it's the economy, stupid).

It was only a month or so ago that Trump was talking about how cheap 'gas' was at the pumps. 'Something no one has ever seen before'.

The orange clown is shooting himself in the foot domestically (also distracting from Epstein files, ICE, and multiple other scandals) following on from his deeply fracturing relationships with all key US allies abroad (supporting Israeli genocide, tariffs, Ukraine, Greenland, castigating allies and supporting the right in their internal politics) and generally turning world opinion against the US through illegal foreign interventions, destabilizing the world economy, and supporting genocide.

The US have made their bed, and it appears as though almost all their allies are happy to see them lie in it. Hopefully it will help in bringing Trump down, and soften the Americans cough.

He's full of bluster, he backed down on Greenland when it was obvious the EU weren't going to play ball. The idea that he thinks he could pull US companies from Ireland on a whim is pie in the sky.

Those companies have invested billions and years of effort into their businesses here. Trump is around for another 3 years at best, they'd weather whatever storm comes their way to protect their investments. We would see little in terms of economic impact should someone not kiss the ring.

So, give up forever guaranteed annual opportunities to meet current and future US presidents and talk with them regardless of which administration is in charge? We're lucky the leaders of the country haven't been quite that short-sighted so far.

Honestly, this yearly pearl clutching just highlights how unserious people can be about politics and they are better off getting their opinions through X or, maybe better, Truth.

Stopping the bombing may not be enough at this stage. The Iranian regime will want revenge and they have discovered the power of the one real weapon they have.

We already see moves by France and Italy (Trump's old friend Meloni!) to open direct talks with the regime. No doubt China will be making their own direct arrangements anyway. I think we'll finally see Europe paddle its own canoe, for economic imperatives, which is generally the only reason they'll do anything.

Deleted all of my original post as it became obvious you posted the above for kicks while watching the Oscars.

"All they need to do is to stop Trump from bombing Iran". Sounds great. But how exactly do yoou suggest they do it? How high do you rate the probability of success, and the risks/costs of failure? Your "bright idea" sounds very Trumpian if only because of its failure to think carefully about the implications of your proposal.

Trump will have to stop his own war because it is costing the US billions, and that is one of the only things he understands.

Billions in supporting the military he has shipped out to the Middle East, the infrastructure that is being destroyed in US bases in the region, in US armaments that are needed to defend against cheap Iranian drones, and ultimately in the effect this all has to the US economy at home.

This is why he is desperately asking other countries to risk their people to save his skin and help him win his war, which absolutely no one wants to do.

The current US administration are just about as bad as the Israelis. Two sets of maniacs, both of which should be in the ICJ.

Today shows how desperate he's getting trying to get himself out of his hole with the walls sliding in on him. He's told China he will NOT go there on his planned trip unless it helps him with solving his Hormuz Strait problem. He must have been told and accepted that China and India seem to have no problem with getting their oil tankers through the straits unharmed.

Edit. This is when US Farmers are pleading with him to help them out of the problem they are in with fuel costs and China wanting Soy Beans. I have no idea as to when the news items covering the farmers were made but it gave me a start to find out that the US agriculture section apparently has at least two sections, one being the National Black Farmers Association. How fucked up can a country be when the farmers are divided into at least two sections based on colour.

As if China will give a ****, they are laughing themselves to sleep at night. They need to do absolutely nothing and are increasingly seen as the adults in the room among the 'great powers'.

The US already had to come crawling back to them on 'rare earths' after flexing their muscle. Meanwhile the Chinese quietly continue with 'Belt and Road' to increase their influence.

It seems like Trumps Ego has led him into triggering something that some mad powers badly want - i. e. A third world war and the reordering of the top dogs.

Hope he at least lives to see the foolishness of ditching one’s allies of many years in favour of two chancers- Israel and Russia.

Also hope that for once he suffers the consequences of his actions.

Only he can call a halt to HIS war - but I fear it is a climb down too far for his almightyness and his mouth almighty Sec for war.

Trump dismissing Zelenskys offer of help, despite Ukraines 4 years of experience fighting Russian/Iranian drones. Says "the last person we need help from is Zelensky". Such arrogance from Trump. He thinks he doesnt need other countries help and then he expects Europe and even China to help him unblock the Strait of Hormuz. He also repeats the nonsense that Putin wants a deal but Zelensky is blocking a deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,354 ✭✭✭aidanodr

Yip - the most bizzare situation. Trump tells Putin that he is shelving some of the oil embargos on Russia, so Russia can then use the extra cash from the oil sales to not alone fund further attacks on Ukraine but also most likely further fund Iran who in turn are killing US troops.

It is absolutely nothing less than TREASON from trump ….

Tell him, he's great, he's achieved his objectives, he's the bestest ever, won the war. Now stop. Otherwise it's time to think about a Nato exit for the US, before he jumps the gun and does it. Appeasement never works (see WW2).

I think this is about right. Which option you reckon trump would pick?

I think FIRST - Ground invasion, then use Nukes

My view STILL is trumps personal reason for all this boils down to HIS deflection from Epstein files - perfectly aligns with his character - a narcissist and sociopath who only cares about one person on this planet - Donald trump.

He will want to drag this out until at least November so he can enact the war time acts so he can postpone / cancel the mid terms or any other elections .. as in we are at War, though at the mo, like Putin, he is not calling his Special operation in Iran a WAR.
