“It’s quite simple. The total range advertised is 100-0. “

I’m aware of the “advertised” range-however, what’s not clear is the individual “claimed” range, until the poster provides clarification. We’re they doing all motorway driving? Are they using the air con and heat excessively? Driving style?

I can get 280km ( doing 80-100kph but not motorway speeds) at least in winter (current weather) with an additional 20% range left - which means I can get over 300kms before my battery indicates zero, from a full charge

With absolutely no disrespect to the poster, saying they’re “only” getting X kms is not enough information to comment and help them

And your back to the dynamic range as I quoted earlier. There’s no one size fits all here. My opinion is that your over complicating it.

And my point is proved that there’s no one size fits all. I leave the air on but no aircon and I don’t have any steamed windows. EV or diesel or petrol. So there you have it.

Possible issue in a car that fogs up when AC is off but air is running. Are you getting into the car soppy wet OM?

Car is gone now so distant memory thankfully - but no, it always misbehaved in terms of fog up if the aircon button wasn’t pressed - regularly serviced and all of that - I just kept the air con on, didn’t bother me or indeed impact mpg

Must be moisture in the air then, from some source.

I doubt you miss it now with the big move to EV. These kind of hassles become a distant memory pretty quickly.

Just going back to this -On the pro plus, fully charged at 100%, range would normally say 414/420 - your “dynamic” range, based on your own driving style likely says less. (You can toggle between these two read outs)

I’ve just travelled 275kms (100-20%) giving me a total range of 340kms to 0% -winter driving - which is pretty much bang on what the database figures are saying on the link I gave you above

Aircon set at say 17° at this time of year should only use an absolutely neglible amount of energy i.e. it's basically not worth calculating consequently I never turn it off. That's the way it was in my Kona and now Ioniq 5. I'd imagine other brands are similar.

Aircon button pressed in Smart #1.does impact energy usage - turning it off and setting the temp at 19/20 does just fine

    How are you measuring this?

Energy app in the car does it for me - it lists out where the energy from the battery is being used. For the first few weeks I had the air con button engaged - overall % energy used from air con/heating etc was about 18%- when I turned air con off , it started reading about 8% and sometimes less - in addition, overall energy consumption -KWh per 100kms fell from close to 20 to around 17

Posted this in another thread but would like to post it here too if that’s ok as it’s useful information for those interested in this particular car, and there’s not many posters here who have one.

wanted to test out the car at motorway speeds to see what I’d achieve driving at my normal ICE speeds.

200kms reached going from 100-20% charge doing 120-125kmph on a very wet and windy day - temp about 9 Celsius

Official range is 414kms (Smart#1 Pro +) so wanted to see how the car performed at motorway speeds- will be interesting to see if that improves come summer time - it was something like 25kwh per 100kms - 66kw battery - so not a huge range at that speed but I don’t intend to travel those speeds most of the time anyway - in contrast my normal combined driving uses about 18kwh per 100kms in winter which would equate to 293km range (100-20%) doing my normal non motorway driving .
Looking forward to Summer to discover the ultimate ranges of this car. Still and all, it would get you Dublin to Galway or Cork city with a decent bit to spare without paying a bit of heed to your speedometer or much further if you can restrain yourself on the accelerator - pretty pleased overall I must say.

Dealers don’t appear to be selling Smart#1 as new cars only 2025 pre reg cars. Have they discontinued in Ireland.

They certainly had a stack of pre-regged in waiting for the last 6 months or so - not sure what the plan is long term - cracking value though given the car’s luxury and features - you won’t get a better 2025 or 2026 car for the prices they’re asking for the Smart #1

Amazing what a few degrees increase does on range- as a new EV user, had only winter temps to go by- 18kwh per 100kms was around my winter average- I’m already seeing that go down to 16.4kwh per 100kms but some journeys gave me under 15kwh- and that will only get better as we move from say 11-13 degrees which was the average temp I experienced over the last week , towards maybe 14-16 degrees over the coming weeks - happy days

I am looking at buying one of these now - 27k for a Pro+

The dealer said they are not getting any more in until 2027. It does really seem like they might be pulling out of the market here?

Was back to 2 degrees earlier this week and back to 18-19kwh per 100kms - temp has increased a bit since so consumption is dropping again which is nice- looking forward to more settled weather or at least where temps remain above 10 degrees.
