Did trump believe that he’ll fire a few missiles and Iran be begging for forgiveness? Really seems they’ve no plan at all and going by Israel plans in Gaza it’s just pie in sky stuff and making it up as they go along. Iran seems to be going for the pen is mightier than the sword in retaliation.

Nothing feeble about the amount of destruction in Israel. You don't implement media bans when everything's rosy.

As usual, we're fed a highly biased narrative of what's going on. I suppose that stratotanker just fell out of the sky too. Maybe it ran out of fuel.

Israel are nothing without the US. They don't even have an economy without them.

And the report that Trump was surprised that Iran had not "capitualated" (even before the war, during the negotiations, I think?) is indicative of how arrogant and dangerous Trump is.

Who confirmed this. Is this the same confirmation that the supercarrier that caught fire was a normal incident and nothing to do with the war. Maybe they burned their freedom fries. They sound more like the Russians every day.

I genuinely think they had a Hollywood plan in their head directed by Michael Bay.

Wide Angle shots of US aircraft,

    US flags

    Exploding barrels

    Blow up the Iranian Leadership

    Iranians rise up

    *Magic democracy*

More US flags and Patriotic music.

    Teaser at end showing Cuba

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

Rubio has no argument there. He doesn’t seem to have ever considered this matter and is not able to make any sort of coherent reply. There’s a weird blindness about Americans. They don’t fully believe in the sovereignty of other countries.

Pretty much, yes. Thought he could 'do a Venezuela' and it would all be done and dusted within three days (and he would get all the global plaudits for his quick and decisive action).

The most likely explanation is mid-air collison

This is a good YT channel for all sorts of aircraft incidents

After centuries of colonial rule, India is leery of the West and with good reason. The two immediate challenges in its neighbourhood are Pakistan and China. Iran offers it a trade route to Central Asia around Pakistan.

Like Russia in the ex USSR, Israel and its supporters in the US seem to have a strategy of keeping Israel's neighbours weak so they can have a free hand there.

Interesting thing is that a lot of those -135’s are flying thanks to a Shannon based company.

When we look at marine traffic and see nothing moving through the strait, then i will consider it closed.

That's the thing. The surviving aircraft, serial 38017, is a regular KC-135R, not one of the eight receiver capable KC-135s that were built. It cannot be refuelled by another aircraft, it lacks the refuelling port above and behind the cockpit that's needed for that. It could only have flown in the forward position, refuelling another aircraft. For it to have sustained damage like that, something else must have gone wrong.

I do have some suspicions, pilot error during the initial rendezvous, or possibly a combination of turbulence & pilot-induced oscillation that caused the receiving aircraft to hit the vertical stabiliser whilst attempting to get clear, but whatever it was, it must have been pretty drastic.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

According to the model numbers, neither aircraft was capable of taking fuel midair

If your alliance isn’t locally run then it’s not yours. Faraway countries will always have a different agenda.

Interesting. Do you have a serial for the other KC-135? I've seen 62-3556/23556 bandied around on some sites, FR24 shows that this aircraft never returned to Tel Aviv after its last mission, but I'm somewhat hesitant to trust reddit in that regard…

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

I think we are witnessing a significant historical event, US strategic control of Eurasia is in terminal decline. Trumps legacy!

The one that crashed was 62-3556 (according to the highly respected Juan Browne on YouTube and I have no reason to doubt him as I have followed him for years on his channel about aircraft incidents)

he will send in hundreds of thousands of americans first before he lets that happen .. but iran would still most likely win - there will be a taco first where he will pick one small win and declare the whole thing a complete victory

Thanks, that tracks with what I've seen. They're still listing it as a tentative serial on Aviation Safety Network, but that's now the third time I've seen that particular number.

Still leaves the question as to what happened, given that the two KC-135 wouldn't have had a need to come anywhere near each other…

Wasn't trying to doubt you, by the way. I was genuinely curious.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Yes, It does seem like a hinge point in history, although I might think that Trump could be a symptom as well as a cause.

I'm beginning to think that Bibi is dead. Was he the clip holding the Israeli regime together? Time will tell. Certainly in the last 24 hours we're starting to see footage again on X of carnage being caused in Israel from Hezbollah and Iranian missiles. Sirens going off just 90 seconds now ahead of missiles striking. People more or less now living in shelters as the missiles rain down constantly.

The sense of safety and security promised to those coming to Israel and for those already there has been shattered. Israel along with the U.S continues to pound Iran. The Iranian people are a proud people with a great history. They showed in the 8 year war with Iraq an incredible tolerance for enduring death and destruction. Whatever misgivings the people may have had towards the government they are doing with country proud and they are rallying around to defend their homeland.

I think the Iranians are well on their way to developing a nuclear bomb. The murder of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei removed the fatwa on developing a nuclear bomb. I think they will announce it too to send out a warning to Israel not to fook with them with their own nuclear weapons.

The Iranians I think have known that Israel and or the U.S. would try it on militarily. By letting them strike first Iran maintains the moral high ground and the right to defend itself. They have engaged in a planned fashion militarily. Their patience will be rewarded as their missiles inflict ever more damage on Israel and U.S. assets across the middle east.

Trump can claim some kind of military victory with the death of the Supreme leader. Once the economic cost of continuing the war becomes problematic I think he'll invent an off ramp for himself. The problem their will be that unless the Israelis raise the white flag they'll be left alone to face the Iranian/Hezbollah bombardment. It's fast approaching the point where Israel is facing an existential threat to it's very existence. Larry Johnson, respect U.S military analyst reckons if Israel does nuke Iran at that stage one of China/Russia or even North Korea enters the fray if Iran doesn't reply in kind first.

Hunger and tiredness has to soon become an issue for the Israelis in bunkers and elsewhere. Lack of food and sleep causes carnage with both your physical and mental health. Will they rise up and kick their regime to the kerb? Will the country descend into civil war? Trump and Bibi really opened a pandoras box in attacking Iran. The stupidity of doing so is mind boggling. Interesting times ahead.

I don’t think that will happen, it would just be another Vietnam let alone how unpopular this war is domestically.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,669 ✭✭✭dePeatrick

Very much so, Trump is a symptom and a symbol of what is wrong in the US.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 13,592 Mod ✭✭✭✭igCorcaigh

Yeah… I'm one of those who does hold a belief in material forces of history, and this moment would have happened anyway, but Trump both represents it and also acts as an accelerant.

    I'm getting OT.

How can the US have strategic control of Eurasia when they can never have strategic control of India, Russia, China and Iran ?

The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters. — Antonio Gramsci
