Have you looked into insurance aspect of it? Quick scan online (mostly from UK) suggests it could be complicated

Indeed - Insurance Companies luv modified vehicles.

I used to think modifications were all to do with go-faster bits, but, regrettably, I know better now.

Not that I've ever done it, but what about a mini bus and remove the last few rows of seats?

Mini buses have minimal VRT, so again, an engineers report would be required and the additional VRT would need to be paid due to the reclassification

Just a quick follow up in this... Moved away from the crew cab idea, a few importers I spoke to said they don't really do crew cabs as they can be costly. Moving towards Peugeot e-traveller, Citroen Spacetourer, Vauxhall/Opel vivaro, all electric. Looking at bigger battery versions with 300+ km range. Mostly 8/9 seats, idea is to take out the back seats when needed for transporting bikes etc...Trying to see what is possible for 30k euro from north or else where. Will try to remember to put an update here when/if I get something
