Shane doing his best to f*** it up again. Par needed at last, in middle of the fairway, 150yds and he barely clears water.

Edit.... and he misses the cut.

Weekend off now, needed a 38 footer for par on 18, was in the rocks

Threw that mc away. 3 bogies over last 5 holes

Almost sounds like he didn't want to make the cut.....

It just feels like he will never win any tournament again.

Probably didnt wouldnt blame him. Bit of extra rest/break reset and go again

Found the water twice on 18 to finish with a quad-bogey today, +4 for the day.

Almost certain he tossed a third ball into the pond just after he holed out too.

Probably believes the theory that things happen in 3s. So 3 balls in the water, won't happen again now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,028 ✭✭✭Russman

I know its harmless in the greater scheme of things, but that infantile behaviour of throwing your ball into the water after a bad hole really p1sses me off.

Agreed, and of course it does pollute the lake in a small way. Amazing how the conservationists aren't shouting about it.

I even saw Scheffler at it a few weeks back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭joficeduns1

Scheffler's was especially egregious, very dramatic for just a bogey from a really hard spot to get up and down from.

To be fair, a quad gives a lot more justification to express frustration. I'm also only speculating around Shane do it, it was a tight zoom where you couldn't see his hands but he seemed to look at the ball, swing the arm lightly and appear to just toss and roll the ball over the edge. Then swaps the putter into the hand where his ball was. There was a laugh from the crowd that makes me think that's what happened.

Regarding pollution, considering Shane's tee-shot was the 1000th ball in the water on 18 since 2009(?) in competition I'd imagine Sawgrass has a regular sweep to gather the discards!

Started well today but heading towards a weekend off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

Needs to go off and get his head right before coming back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,954 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

indeed, between Dubai and last week and this week..step away..chillax

And Scottie.. the luck of his game is gone

For years I reckoned that he gets so much luck compared to the others..

without that amount of luck .. we see the real Scottie game.

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

To be fair, hes had lucky moments for sure, particularly the first masters win.

But you dont get to 20 wins on tour on the basis of being lucky

The most clueless post I've ever seen on this forum. If Scottie was holing a decent amount of putts he'd be winning ten tournaments every season.

Even today and yesterday if he was holing putts he'd be well under par without playing well.

He has the most amazing game of anybody in a long time. He's been so good that the only comparison is Tiger Woods.

He has an incredible upright swing which is very rare because it's so difficult to perfect.

There is zero luck involved in what he's been doing. His putting has let him down, he'd have a staggering amount of wins if he holed as many ten foot putts as the average that the other nine golfers in the top ten in the world do.

There is no such thing as making making 70 consecutive cuts in a row.

Up to recently a bad week for him was a top ten finish.

There's no justification for acting improperly in the game of golf. It doesn't matter why you did it.

And as a sports person it's stupid. You have to put what just happened behind you immediately whether that's a quadruple bogey or an eagle. All that matters is the upcoming play.

I mean he's only ever won once in the US and it was over 10 years ago now (excluding playing with Rory at the Zurich)....he's underachieved massively especially in the last 2/3 years as he's been in the mix time and again

We can only dream of this kind of underachievement.

    • Official PGA Tour Prize Money: ~$31.7 million
    • PGA Tour Bonuses & Unofficial Events: ~$11 million (This includes FedEx Cup bonuses and the Player Impact Program).
    • 2026 Season Earnings: He has already banked $2,839,300 this year alone, largely thanks to a massive runner-up finish at the Cognizant Classic earlier this month which netted him over $726,000

you can be sure he’d give up all his 2026 winnings for a w

Money has got absolutely nothing to do with this...I'm talking about his legacy in the game here.

Tom McKibbin will probably make more than Lowry in his career but if it coulds include LiV Singapore wins and the like who's gives a bollix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,658 ✭✭✭MayoSalmon

Exactly...people on here Id swear never played golf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,113 ✭✭✭riddles

He is one of the grestest Irish golfers in history and probably in the top 15 most successfull european golfers to play in the US where the standard is incredible. He is most likely his own biggest critic but lets not be silly. Success in professional golf is based on money - if you can't pay your way your out. He didnt come through the elite path and what he has achieved is extraordinary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,658 ✭✭✭MayoSalmon

Historically Europeans didn't play in the US so that stat is utterly pointless.

Success in golf is based on money...ah give your head a wobble.

Your pursuit of the last word has pushed you into the ridiculous territory.
