By that logic why not increase the ticket price by a tenner then & rake in further revenue?

That is literally what they do - they will set the prices at the highest level where they feel there is demand, where they can continue to fill the stadium. Given tickets can't be had for this game and the stadium is full, it seems they're right.

As others have pointed out, they have a responsibility to maximise their revenues, and for the most part this money is going back into funding rugby in the country, it's not paying dividends to wealthy individuals etc.

I know some others have mentioned the buying houses in Havelock Square etc, but while I don't love it, there are clear strategical reasons for doing so. It's not disconnected to the current ticket price issues - if not for the housing there the stadium would have been built with another 15-20k seats back in 09/10. By buying up these houses, they're potentially giving themselves the option to extend down the road.

Yip paid €1m for a 2 bed house at the back end of last year...200k over market value.

The 200k can be dressed up as only a fiver extra on a ticket for 4 home sell out games.

It can be dressed up in many formats & debated no end but for me the ticket prices at 150 a ticket are not worth it, forget about us a family going together.

I'll leave it there & let the thread back to where it was originally.

It can be that revenue from tickets can be put to good and relevant use AND that tickets are an absolute rip-off to a ticket buyer who needs to be well connected and/or wealthy to attend. Both things can be true and it doesn't have to be one or the other.

I'm not arguing the tickets are objectively very expensive.

I don't necessarily agree you need to be super well-connected though to attend games; people who are active and involved in clubs should have the opportunity to get tickets (not all the time obviously) through their club. This will vary somewhat from club to club but for the most part that is the case.

Obviously there is a sizable 'corporate' attendance too - but a lot of these corporates are buying their tickets from clubs and this is helping to fund the clubs.

I know of people in my workplace etc who lament the fact they can't get their hands on tickets, but that is mostly because they have no particular involvement in the game.

'Well connected' makes it sound like it's some sort of illuminati style group getting all the tickets, but most people who are coaching mini teams in clubs are able to get their hands on tickets I think.

Had a pair of tickets in my basket wasted no time went to banking app to approve transaction and went straight back to ticketmaster tickets were gone . Absolutely sick didn’t think they could do that when tickets are in your basket and only for 20 seconds max

But i dont see how you have to be well connected or wealthy to attend. Being a member of a club/actively involved in the sport weekly isnt being well connected.

Yeah i think super well connected to get tickets is a big stretch. Like i would say 55-60 percent of tickets are going to the 200+ clubs, the schools. and various provincial committees and sub committees. so people involved in game. now some clubs may sell some tickets of theirs on to businesses(who are usually sponsoring the club) but yeah its far from anything secret to get tickets.

Any chance of getting back on topic??

I didn't disagree although I think I inadvertently started it all.. :/ Guess with last match tomorrow there won't be much talk of tickets until July if the November matches go on public sale then.

Well there must be an awful lot of clubs sponsored by French businesses. How else would 15k French fans get tickets last year. Or is it a mistery?
