Huge game tonight. 5 points necessary. Really looking forward to it in hope we do what is required

Out of interest is anyone finding the ticket booking system shocking for the Clan Stand. Would like to see a hover button for area A to the opposite area of the stand where a hover button shows you available seats for each an every area. Then you should be able to zoom into that area where red seats are those already booked and green seats are those available with the zoom focusing on green available seats. Just a thought

Gilbert off injured. Not what we need given the big injury list we already have. Looked like his ribs.

How many years have we waited for a decent defense?

Some good stuff there. Jennings is so good in attack. Jansen is going very well too

Shame Devine's try was chalked off.

It frustrates me that we went with an artificial pitch that clearly causes more injuries. Good performance even if Scarlets are in trouble. Still dont understand how we allowed Devine to leave but kept Murphy

Yep, pleased with the majority of that! Some great defensive sets, with a few lapses of concentration.

not fantastic but just what was needed. in fact that reminds me of Leinster with Leo Cullen. They just do enough. And enough is good enough. Well done Connacht. Onwards we go

Jennings just gets better week after week

Not greatest fan of them if i was playing but we all know Connacht had to have one with removal of back pitch and the additional usage of main pitch as a result. Yeah Devine being allowed leave will always be a head scratcher..

As regards Devine, it's not clear what the alternative was. Release Murphy, or Blade, or both of them?

Our 9s have had loads of injuries, there's been loads of chances, bide your time, take your chance when it comes…

Just home from Dexcom. Really enjoyed the performance (and result). Thought Reilly, Jansen, Joyce and Boyle were magnificent. Mack will have to fight Boyle for the 11 shirt !.

As a long time Connacht fan, and a huge Bundee fan, he's not the greatest player in our history. That honour belongs to Eric Elwood.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 679 ✭✭✭CuriousCucumber

Don't be silly. That's bias towards a local lad.

Bundee was our best player, in our greatest ever season. A 2 time Lion, nominated for World Player of the Year, and one of the first names on the team sheet for probably the best, most consistent Irish team of all time.

Jansen up to 10 tries in 15 now. Hope he is on Andy Farrell's radar because he's going to have some big offers when his contract is up next year.

Eric deserves to be mentioned and remembered as a great connacht player. But bundee is a different level.

Good result, well done to all the young lads. Hope the injury count isn't too serious.

Gilbert was hurt in that first incident where he was taken out in the air and landed heavily. The ref rushed to judgement and decided it was just penalty, but the player never got off the ground.

He carried on for a few more minutes after but then took a second knock and had to go off.

There's no bias and performances for Ireland has nothing to do with Connacht. I'm talking about the best Connacht player as in performance for the province.

Elwood dragged us out of the dark ages as a player and later coach.

Caolin Blade is in the conversation too. He's our second highest try scorer, over 200 caps and he was part of the pro-twelve winning team as well.

There's an argument for Jack Carthy too but I wouldn't have him up there with the other three.

Very happy for Darragh Murray, he had a really positive impact today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,325 ✭✭✭testtech05

Did really well few big impacts. Only mistake was a silly penalty he gave away from a kick off but overall was excellent fair play to him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 679 ✭✭✭CuriousCucumber

Blades not even our best scrum half in the last 20 years, never mind player in our history.

I'll repeat, Bundee was the best Connacht player, in our greatest ever team.

Elwood is a Connacht legend, but in terms of best players for Connacht, no one can compare to Aki.

Oh those of short memories. Bundee arrived with Mils Muliaina and those who knew a little bit figured Bundee was the major signing and not Mils. So roll on a little and Bundee and Robbie were amazing. Then roll on into the 2017 season things went stale. So Pat Lam left and Andy Friend arrived. And Andy Friend did an ok job. He is a really nice guy. Met him a few times. Brought in a few new players, even benched Bundee but overall Connacht struggled. And then there was Wilkins. And those years were tough.

Overall I thought Bundee during the Pat Lam period was excellent. Andy Friend put some manners on him and Pete Wilkins was simply weak. So Lancaster is sorting it all out today.

Bundee for me has the charisma and kids love him. And that's huge for rugby development at Connacht. And this will be his biggest legacy

You are trying to include Ireland it appears. I'm talking about performances for Connacht. Bundee hasn't always been our star player. John Muldoon was considered our most consistent player for a long time.

Bealham and Dillane were other greats from the time of our Pro-12 win, Henshaw was there as well but he wasn't with us long enough.

Muldoon deserves serious consideration for the greatest ever but for me Elwood was super consistent all through his time with Connacht.

As great as Bundee is and was he lacked the consistency that others had while playing for Connacht. .

Id say since the build up to the 23 world cup Bundees performances for us fell off a lot but come on. Elwood is a legend and our greatest ever 10 but Bundee was genuinely world class for years for us.

IIve a vague hazy memory of walking out of a pub in Dublin after a watching a win iver in wales around 2018 or 19 thinking theres no way a player that good will ever spent nearly his whole career with Connacht again

Id also have Muldoon marginally ahead of Elwood. Bridged the gap from fighting it out with Borders all the way to the heineken cup and becoming champions.

And Marmion over Blade by a margin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,730 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Calling Bundee the greatest Connacht player is similar to calling Sam Warburton the greatest Cardiff Blues player of all time; you could argue it either way and have a point.

I don't think Bundee has ever lacked for effort with us, I just think that playing an extremely abrasive style at the highest levels of the game is extraordinarily demanding and that takes its toll.

Yeah, possibly another way of framing it is Bundee is the greatest player who has ever played for Connacht arguably, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he has been Connacht’s greatest player (even though I would probably vote for him for that).
