Heart and head ruling here. Limerick to win the AI and Munster. Galway to win Leinster.

As a Galway man, I think if we stayed up in 1A and won leinster, it would be classed as a good year, imo. But, I could still see Galway loose to Kilkenny in a leinster final.

Think it will be an all Munster all-Ireland final again. Probably Cork vs Limerick. Toss up to as to who would win it. Limerick at a push.

I would think Clare could be the third team out of Munster this year.

I think Waterford will come out of Munster with obviously Limerick and Cork. I think the Dubs will come out of Leinster with Galway and Kilkenny.

Waterford are due a year out of Munster. Don't think they've gotten out of Munster during the round Robin phase since it's inception.

The three from Leinster are easier to predict. Wexford could be in for a tougher year than normal. Hope Kildare put up a good showing in Leinster and maintain their status there. Brian Dowling is doing a fantastic job with them atm.

Also need the likes of Offaly to put up a decent challenge. In relation to Waterford, I think they have a good management team and the right blend of experience and youth.

Waterford will absolutely ruin someone’s summer, but hard to see consistency over the full round-robin

Ill make my predictions after the league

As a Waterford supporter for the love of god just get out of Munster this year as this could be the last chance for the 'Class of 2013' & maybe others in the panel. Munster is a mine field

Obviously Ireland might not be in it but none of the possible World Cup games will disturb any of the Championship games

I know Limerick look good right now but we have to go away to Clare and Cork and have the first week off so reckon it'll be 3rd place in Munster for Limerick.

Relegation and 3rd place in Leinster look like they will be really interesting so through hope more than anything I want Galway to win to finally make the top exciting again.

Munster as always will be riveting and the only thing I would predict confidently as Waterford won't get out. I would expect Cork to win their home games so they should be ok but they also have to got to Thurles in the first round so that game will set the tone. There might also be a 'last dance' situation in Clare. Absolutely cannot wait.

In Leinster I think Galway will do enought to make the final, having KK and Dublin at home. I think Dublin have to travel to Salthill and Wexfrd so it'll be tough for them but I think they'll edge out wexford for 3rd as I can see Wexford dropping points tot heminnows. I think overall it'll be quite competitive by leinter standards. Will make my predicition for the Leinster final after Galway and KK meet in the league this weekend!

Limerick first 2 games away to cork and clare is very tough. Especially if they lose to cork. Clare look to have a nice schedule with waterford (h) , break week, Limerick (h) coming off the cork game. For me cork are the only certainties to finish in the top 3

Fancy kilkenny and Galway in leinster. Lot writing off wexford but they have Dublin and Galway at home and well capable of winning those games. On the other hand, they are also capable of losing to offaly or kildare who they go to first.

I wouldn't be shocked if Cork didn't make it out of Munster (or any other team either). Cork have had 2 hard years and I'm not buying all the BOC hardening them up hype.

Munster is nearly a lottery at this stage. I'd expect Limerick to qualify but they have two tricky games away to Clare and Cork.

While the likes of Galway and Kilkenny can afford to use the whole panel with the extra game and 'weaker' opposition

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,557 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Better off to be in Munster. More battle hardened when you get to the knockouts although a higher risk of injury.

I agree with you that it's time for an open draw, fairer on everybody

Like they do in the Football (obviously lesser teams etc)

Use Munster and Leinster Championship knockout for seedings in a group stage

Limerick cork Munster final, third place will be very interesting with Waterford, Tipp & Clare having a 50/50 chance 😃

Leinster as usual will be Galway vs Kilkenny, Galway usually go weak at the sight of a kk Jersey so should be a kk win, Dublin will take third spot.

Wish they went weak at the sight of it last weekend

The same boring old sht every year. What's the point crying about formats on a thread about a format that is set for 2026 on the 2026 thread.

I can't understand why it's not considered off topic by mods.

Where would you talk about the format of a tournament other than in the thread about that tournament?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭C4000

I'd throw up a seperate thread about competition structures and another one about rule changes and let the main league and championship threads be for discussion of matches/teams.

As it is, there are endless circular discussions about open draws, abolishing the provincial championships, 'throws' and steps rules.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,458 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Ah yeah I'm only looking for a rise to be honest, the endless structure debate is very distracting from actual hurling talk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,409 ✭✭✭✭RMAOK

100% correct. At the end of the day, the best team/teams will rise to the top, regardless of what structure the championship takes.

The league, atm, shows that. The 2 best teams in the country are at the top if the league table and, quite possibly, will be in the All-Ireland final later on in the year.

It's just a reality atm that most of the best counties in the country are centred around Munster (amd Limerick, in particular).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,614 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Not a word about the All-Ireland champions?…. I know Tipp people won’t mind being under the radar but they’ll have a big say in this years championship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,108 ✭✭✭endainoz

Tipp will be very tough to beat this year, I suppose it's more the idea of how difficult it is to retain an All Ireland these days, as Clare found out last year and it really does show how exceptional Limerick had been to retain it themselves so many times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,674 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

"quite possibly, will be in the All-Ireland final later on in the year"

Won't happen too many variables. We were already hearing "first of five" and come championship it will be "first of three" but it never seems to happen because someone will get caught out.

Im fairly worried about Limerick even getting out of Munster.

Tipp aren't great at going back to back, they tend to take a few years off. Will have a massive battle just to get out of Munster.
