New replacement AV receiver

So im after a new av receiver after my old Onkyo tx sr507 packed up.

I've a set of denons 5.1 speaker system from the same era. All bought through richer sounds.

What are my options?

Contemplating if I was to spend 200-300 more what would I be gaining.

Its mainly for tv, movies and sport in the living room. With option to run ceiling speakers.

I've ceiling speakers in a few rooms with cables terminating at av location. Could I make use of these with the 770.

Also Contemplating if I should swap them out for Bluetooth ones. They're 10yrs old.

Hi pauljmor,

If you upped the budget by 2-300 the main differences would be in the sound quality and inputs. Having a bit more power in the amp means it's not stretching itself when there are wide dynamic shifts in teh sound. You would also get a few more inputs as well.

The 770 is already a 7.1 amp (the JBL is only 5.1) so the Denon will support Dolby Atmos with in ceiling speakers. If you can use the ceiling speakers you have this would be ideal as you wouldn't be able to connect Bluetooth speakers to the amp. The amps are designed to be run with wired speakers.

Thanks David, I popped into the shop there yesterday and upgraded my onkyo 507 for the onkyo TXNR6100.

I set up last night and its a great piece of kit.

My old onkyo had speaker connections for zone 2 which ran ceiling speakers in my kitchen.

The new system (TXNR6100) has zone 2 but no speaker connections, my question is how do I go about connecting these kitchen ceiling speakers to the receiver.

Secondly, im very happy with my old speakers at present but im looking at the option of adding a set of atmos speakers to the system. what are my options?

Hi Pauljmor.

Glad to her you got sorted yesterday with us here at the Belfast store.
You should have gave myself or David a nudge as its always good to out a face to a boardie.

For the 2nd zone you will unfortunately need a separate amplifier to run the speakers.
You would connect the Zone 2 phono outs to an input on a 2nd amp and this amp would have your Kitchen speakers attached.

Something like the Fossi BT20A would do the job for you.
