Dan Hoole ditching his team halfway through the TTT to ride in alone to a provisional 1st is the funniest thing I've seen in a while

didn’t watch it but Dunbar finished 4+ mins behind his team. Anyone know what happened there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,627 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

He crashed yesterday, maybe feeling the effects of that

Eddie didn't start the PN stage today

Five Irish riders in the GP Oetingen today. Would have been six but Lara Gillespie was withdrawn earlier in the week

(The "Mayenne Monbana My Pie" team reminds me of Kenny Van Vlaminck's "Flemish Fish Flans (of Flanders)" squad).

What the hell happened in paris-nice?? Just opened pcs and see 4 bora plus vingo in the lead, echelons?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,384 ✭✭✭Mefistofelino

Crap weather, a very early split saw about 40 riders off the front including Vingo. That whittled down as it got lumpier until there was about 12 left and half of them went down in a crash with 48 k to go.

Including Ayuso, who's off to hospital. Looked nasty enough.

first sighting of Sam Bennett on a provisional starting list. Grand Prix de Denain on the 19th in France

    Good News

TBH, he's probably looking forward to a break from painting and decorating the new house

A sneaky 5th for Ben Healy today. Unusually for him, he didn’t sit up as they raced into the last 200m and came past a few of the leading pack in the finale. He’s 5th on GC now in Tirreno Adriatico

Ben Healy gradually creeping up the GC in Tirreno Adriatico. He's not closed the gab to Pellizzari and Del Toro at the top of GC but has moved up to 5th after today. I think Saturday's stage should suit him but I can't see Red bull or UAE letting him away with anything.

Vingegaard and MVDP both looking very very good.

Vingo and what is left in Paris-Nice is a total mismatch. At least the GC in tirenno is closer, top 10 all within 1min

Would disagree on Vingegaard. Field is very weak after yesterday.

Showing good form but not amazing.

Vingo isn't even trying, was laughing with the mechanic and taking off his own wheel for a cool down spin before many had crossed the finish line. No sign of fatigue or anything.

Just saw his interview there. Basically said Campanaerts lead out was great so I didn’t have to accelerate and I could just keep within myself.

Put a minute into the field in the last km the day before too.

We all need him at his best IMO, so hopefully he’s getting there

Today's stage of the Tour of Rhodes was won by Alexander Konychev - the 27 yo son of Dmitri Konyshev.

I feel even older than usual..

A few Irish riders in that race, including in the Velo Performance U23 Team (Jack Conroy safely in the bunch!)

Sam Bennett making his seasonal and Pinarello Q36.5 debut today in the Belgian semi-classic Nokere - Koerse.

    Also in action today:

Nokere-Koerse WE - Aoife O'Brien, Lara Gillespie, Mia Griffin, Fiona Mangan

Milano-Torino - Adam Rafferty, Jamie Meehan

Nokere is the one with the little uphill cobbled sprint at the end, lara should have a good chance today especially with no wiebes.

Not expecting much from Sam other than kms in the legs!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 891 ✭✭✭Morris Garren

They have changed the finale in Nokere as it has become desperately dangerous. It's still a fascinating semi-classic across some familiar but less prestigious sectors and bergs. The finish is now on a 1km concrete drag at 5%, from the west side of Nokere, so not really a pure sprint. You could pick about 50 potential winners and still get it wrong. Hopefully Sam gets through unscathed as none of these races are easy. Lara has a favourites chance here— really hope she wins

Unlucky, she just didnt have the legs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,327 ✭✭✭✭dahat

Looked like she had mechanical issues to me like gears slipping maybe.

I see Roglic has just been added to the start list for MSR on Saturday - a race he hasn't bothered with since 2022. Wonder if he's expecting a different dynamic with Pog pushing to finally make the top step?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,384 ✭✭✭Mefistofelino

Having been caught in the final few hundred metres of the Nokere Koerse yesterday, Alec Segaert manages to hang on for the win today.

Folks, can't get into Tiz Livestream.

If anyone has access to the 720 backup video that's usually on YouTube, I'd appreciate a direct link to it. Thanks in advance

    Scrap that, all sorted.
