What price are the tickets and what are the matches the best of?

I just cannot understand why they’re not doing it in England where there are many more people willing to pay such prices.

Just because a population is larger doesn't mean snooker fans are any more liable to buy over priced exhibition tickets. They have a huge array of tournaments over there, the reason this 'tournament' is being held here is because there is no Irish Masters. What is there on the island of Ireland, just the Irish Open in Belfast I think.

Yeah. Going way back though. The Irish open in 1998. Went to Ken vs Williams in the quarters and then Williams vs McManus in the final. Met them all after. And Tony Drago randomly.

Surely between the RDS, Convention Centre et al we could put a ranking event on? I mean they can put one on in the Brentwood Centre and that kip in Wales.

A big part of the problem in Ireland would be the media - RTE or TV3 or whatever they are called now.

WST would need them to invest, they probably don't have budget. If they don't want to or can't invest there are loads of other venues they could go to around the World.

I also strongly suspect that snooker and a lot (not all) of the snooker audience is still not woke enough for the Irish media, so many in the Irish media and sponsorship circles would probably view it as the wrong kind of image they would want to project now.

Again, other countries are happy to have it.

You need a local co-promoter to take on much of the financial risk whilst sharing any financial gain with WST/Matchroom, and it seems no-one is willing to do that.

You would think so. If these overpriced tickets sold out, at least it shows an appetite for snooker in Ireland. Hopefully we get a tournament
