Big roll of thunder here in Dublin 18 - wasn't expecting that!

thunder on the east coast in March has to be an extremely rare event, I’ve certainly never heard of thunder in February or March but I do remember thunder snow in January 2010 but that’s different as it was an easterly.

Few strikes over the mountains, must have been one of those I heard:

Very rough morning Meath. Rain eased at midday and some kind of squall just gave rise there now again for a few mins. Rough!

sorry to be pedantic (and I am) but Brandon isn't in the Reeks, the Reeks are in Killarney area, Brandon is on the Dingle peninsula and they often have very different weather conditions. But I think today the weather is the same everywhere. Last Sunday a group of us were doing Cnoc na Péista in the Reeks and had to turn back with wind, rain and zero visibility.

You're quiet correct. I can see Brandon from my house and it's not in the reeks.

Correct, it's not one of the reeks. Mount Brandon is a superb climb. I usually ascend from the eastern side using quite a sheltered gully path. I'd imagine it would be windy up top tomorrow but nothing too unusual on a windy March day at 950m. The views up there are quite spectacular, even by Irish standards.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

There's a yellow wind warning for the entire country and heavy rain forecast. What more do you want? Evelyn Cusack at your front door to warn you not to go outside?

Pretty sure there was a pretty big thunderstorm early morning of the 9th February 2020 around Dublin. Was up taking videos of it that night.

Actually looking forward to tonight. I'd say most will at least see snow falling overnight and can expect a cm or two for the morning (particularly inland away from west facing coasts) which will make a nice change. Looking forward to the reports early tonight!

Some hailstones here in Galway. Would be nice to see some snow. Showery cold breezy day.

Met Office showing an occluded front crossing the country overnight into the morning with the 528dam line moving well south of the country, ECM shows a kink, trough like feature in the isobars and showing the potential of bringing wintry weather well across the country through the midlands into tomorrow morning, Wet Bulb not great / borderline, so maybe very wet snow /sleety stuff with hail mixed in.
