They can do that in addition. I’m not limiting what I expect them to do.

Fair play to NYT reporter, Shawn McCreesh, for putting Trump on the spot regarding the school strike:

If Trump has his way journalists like this will be weeded out from the press corps.

I'm guessing Israel is making billions off the current commodity crisis. Enough to bribe and corrupt the region and the US for generations.

Caught a bit of the bbc news earlier. Former British naval commander said the the US taking out their mining boats is pointless as they’ve got thousands upon thousands of boats to lay mines disguised as just regular trawlers etc.

Well dotard said earlier today to have some guts and go through. Now that there has been a fatality who the hell working on a ship wants to risk their life to transport oil.

One killed in attack on oil tankers at Iraqi port

A spokesman for Iraq’s army says one crew member was killed and 38 others were rescued after the attack on two foreign oil tankers in its port of al-Faw.

Turkey has a land border with Iran and Iraq . Having an open border with those countries would be an unmightagated disaster .in regards with security.

In time of war, the Secretary of Defense is concerned about appearances, especially his own:

UAE and Qatar accusing Israel of falsely attributing strikes on Iran to them in order to drag them into the war, according to TLDR Global on Youtube.

FBI now saying Iran wanted to hit California in retaliation.

They really do just throw everything they can at their population knowing enough of them will believe anything. And even if it is true, so what. America started a war but their people think it would be a crime against humanity for a country to ever attack them.

ABC is going into more detail.

Actually Trump playing down the threat. Asked if hes worried about a domestic terror attack backed by Iran. He said hes not.

Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan) on ABC news not ruling out a supplemental (funding) but says that after the existing $1 trillion Pentagon funding already it would be a high bar to request more. She says so far, the Pentagon has not requested a supplemental.

“Any overstretch is their own fault. Their war on Lebanon is way overdone for the threat coming from there”…. Lebanon exports a lot of fresh produce, unfortunately Hezbollah have taken to using those poroducts to smuggle drugs into Arab countries which in turn have banned Lebanese products. So the Lebanese economy is getting kicked from all sides.

Trump skips dignified transfer for the 7th American soldier killed in the war, following criticism of him for keeping his baseball cap on during the last one.

The tanker struck in Iraq, Safesea Vishnu, is US-owned, so Iran sticking to its game plan and projecting a credible threat against vessels linked to the US / Israel / Europe. I assume ports in the Middle East will simply not allow those vessels to dock, who knows for how long.

The world is finding out the hard way that a speedboat laden with explosives can cause more economic damage than three aircraft carriers worth 50 billion and manned by 15,000 men.

Until certain people start looking at the landmass of Iran as a gigantic stationary ship with 93 million people onboard, they will have a mental block on how much power it can exert over the waters around it. This is Iran's part of the world and the US is afraid of sending their Navy anywhere near it.

The way to prevent Iran from doing all of this was with the threat of overwhelming violence. But if you randomly just dish out all of that violence during peacetime negotiations, there is no more deterrence. It might work the other way, too. I don't think Iran will attack every US / Israeli linked ship sat in the Persian Gulf right now.

I have no idea how this will end but Israel absolutely knew it would most likely play out like this and I doubt they shared that with Trump. And who around Trump would know or dare tell him. I'm sure it was all promises of quick action regime change and chest thumping and they caught him while he was still flying high off of the Maduro capture.

Reports that its Israel that is pushing for a Kurdish force to fight the Iranian regime. Trump seems to be resisting it.

Theres also some divisions between the Iraqi Kurds and the Iranian Kurds on whether to do this. The Iraqi Kurds already have autonomy and fear that this could be threatened if something went wrong in such a conflict e.g. Turkey might intervene.

Offering autonomy to the Iranian Kurds might swing support to it from both though.

Ex Colonel fears Netanyahu could use nuclear weapons.

Israel have nothing really to lose from using a nuclear weapon. America would support them, their people would party on the streets, posters here would support it, and Germany and all the rest would support it and still welcome them to European events.

The people not supporting it would be told they were being antisemitic and they just hate Israel having their own self-determination, and sure isn't all that part of the world theirs anyway so how dare you question their right to do what they like with it.

Like I'm being deadly serious. There are so many posters here who would be totally against it until it happened.

Look at Georgia. You have Von Der Leyen etc. saying how much they would like for them to become an EU member, they are miles from Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,053 ✭✭✭Ozymandius2011

The Christian Zionists in the US would interpret the use of a nuclear weapon as a fulfillment of biblical prophest of Armageddon. They really are just as extreme in some respects as the Islamists. It's just that they wear expensive suits instead of turbans and Eastern dress. They are an apocalyptic sect, as are "Third Temple" extremists in Israel.

This Evangelical church Hegseth has tweeted videos of includes people who have called for the repeal of the 19th Amendment that allowed women to vote. Some of them say that "households" should vote according to the wishes of the Husband/Father. This has echoes of Islamic Guardianship in countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia. It's true that Franco's Spain had a kind of Catholic guardianship for women.

Oh I dunno. How many throats have they cut? How many women sold at slave markets?

I mean, call me an absolutist if you want but I don’t see many modern religions as evil as what the extreme forms of Islam are able to condone without apparently breaking any obvious rules of official Islam.

You kinda have to go back to the Aztecs and other human sacrifice cults to find that level of institutional violence.

That is a very one-eyed view of the world.

Israel is not firing on the Gulf, Iran is. The more logical conclusion is that current US defence is not sufficient to defend from Iran, therefore something more needs to be done about changing Iran. The Gulf depends on tourism and foreign nationals, it won't want unstable mullahs on its borders.

This could be good for Ukraine as they can defend from Iranian drones, but also it could mean a hardening against Iran across the region.

I suppose he should have built into his assumptions that Iran would repeatedly commit war crimes against civilian shipping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,053 ✭✭✭Ozymandius2011

Religion was used to justify slavery in the American South. In the film "Twelve Years a Slave" the priest gives a sermon telling slaves to obey their masters 'with fear and trembling'. St.Paul was often invoked historically to justify slavery, such as when he told slaves to obey their masters like God.

You don't even have to look at the more extreme forms of Islam as practiced by the mullahs in Iran, Hamas in Palestine and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The milder forms of Islam as practiced in the Gulf States condone the full oppression of women and slavery, both of which are not seen even in extreme forms of Christianity.

Really shows how unreliable an ally America is. Say they are going to protect shipping but seem not to follow it up with any action.

It does seems a dumb idea of Trump to initiate a war in an election year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭combat14

at this stage trump is going to have back down declare victory but with egg on his face as iran still has all their nuke material (plus israel wont stop now this time till they run out of missiles)

    OR

the US is going to have to do some sort of big or small invasion of iran to either take over the country or extract the uranium

no sign of iranian population rising up the US left it too late for that - January was the time to strike if at all but trump was busy with venezuala then

Does anyone think this is a plot by the WH to help Putin by making us buy Russian oil?

Israel has openly told the World that Lebanon is part of Greater Israel. Maps showing same have been displayed at the UN and White House. IDF soldiers are wearing Greater Israel maps on their uniforms. The "war on Lebanon is NOT way overdone" as it is a fundamental part of the future. There are pro-zionist posters on the forum trying to silence all criticism of Israel as that also is part the expansionist strategy.

Like I said before, they are an expansionist colonial regime. The posters here who try to justify it are either complicit in it, or are just completely ignorant of the political realities of the situation.

Funny how some posters in here called me anti Semitic for posting the same thing...

Once again, no link to the original source.

Really struggling to see the relevance to Iran.
