Clinical from Valverde, great long ball play from Real.

Savage assist from Courtois. Poor by City keeper and O'Reilly.

Wow what a hatrick goal by Valverde

A Roy Keane vs Juve-esque display from Valverde so far.

Valverde is a super player isn't he. For years he just filled in everywhere whenever he was needed and now doing brilliant in midfield.

Scoring a hatrick while covering Trent's arse constantly. Some performance from valverde.

Not sure how long Trent will get away with it in this team

    Valverde is a class player

Absolutely stunning hatrick from Valverde, each goal a work of art.

In a club full of egos and Galacticos, he is a super pro and a great team player.

Didn’t see this scoreline coming. Real have been very poor recently. Very entertaining half

Is Pep still the greatest manager of all time ?

Amazing that none of the 6 PL clubs are going to win; the rugby football style trend in the PL is not transferring well into the CL so far. Hard to see City or Spurs getting through, unlikely but it could impact the changes of 5th getting CL 4/5 teams get knocked out

Isn't it Guehi and Semenyo's first CL game tonight? What a baptism of fire 😀

I think the PL's trend of non-football tactics is currently biting them in the backside.

For all the millions City have spent on defenders over the years there's a brittleness about how they defend that's hard to understand. Tonight is a classic example.

Valverde is one of the best players in the world. Can do everything

Newcastle deserved to win last night. Liverpool deserved to lose. Only say some of the Arsenal match so can't comment on that one.

I think 5th is nailed on because Italy were the next closest and Atalanta losing will affect their standing country as well.

It shows too. Playing for city in the PL is usually straightforward against most teams. This is a big step up for them though.

O'Reilly had to score that, no real foul on the keeper either.

Ya, the English teams really having a terrible time of it in the Champions League so far.

Ah are you not familiar with their being a knock out round after that?

The idea Spurs would be happier than Madrid this week is gas.

Awful defending by City. Shocking. Definitely a pen. Game and tie over, if he had scored.
