We were fortunate to get out at 1 all. Team not playing well.

Gonna have to hope the defence are performing at both ends of the pitch in the run in as I just don't think that attack is good enough when it's up against the top teams (not that Leverkusen are one of those).

Take the 1-1 draw and get out of there anyway, should be able to get a win at the Emirates but given the amount of one goal wins this season I wouldn't have fancied overturning any kind of deficit.

Got away with one there, I expect us to beat them handy at home, but show up like that again and we could be going out

I'd be raging if that pen was given against us tbh

We were poor but deserved a draw imo

Never a peno, zero contact and how VAR didn't overturn is beyond me.

    Will take it though.

    Flat, uninspiring stuff though.

There was contact. Not a lot. But the contact was there

If there was i didn't see it on any of the angles shown.

If that was given against us I'd be very disappointed.

    Not a peno for me.

Deffo was contact, 100%. I actually wouldn't complain if it was given against us. Different horses for different courses I guess.

The big debate is what has happened our attack. It doesn't look like a systems thing, just so many of our good forwards have been poor, especially Saka. What a downturn in form from him. Is it the whole, Ben White and Odegaard "triangle" missing the issue? Or is it something more? Have other teams worked us out?

I'm hoping against hope that we just click again in the run in. Fingers crossed.

I was very much in the Max Dowman is far too young to be anywhere near the first team camp at the start of the season but I don't know now, the attack needs something different. He might be needed to make a few cameos between now and the end of May.

Could also probably have done with City going a bit deeper in the Champions League but looks like their fixture list will be clearing up a little bit after next week.

Poor performance, OK result. Need to be a lot better to finish the job. Looks like Bodo await the winners. Interesting.

    Soft peno but clear contact.

The non red card after 5 mins was bad.

Hands up, saw a zoomed in replay this morning & there was the tiniest of contacts, and I suppose if running at speed then thats enough to knock you off your stride, so assume thats the stance VAR took in not asking the ref to look at the monitor & that his on pitch decision was correct.

Fair play to the ref for spotting that as even after a few different angle replays at full speed I hadnt seen it.

Still think we were poxed lucky to get it though!!!😀

Despite how disappointed we all are at the result, it was the best result (away draw) from all the English teams, and the joint second best (1-1) of all the teams playing away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,694 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

I don't think anyone is that disappointed with the result? 1-1 away from home in the Champions League knockouts is absolutely fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭ronjo

I think we have been conditioned the last few months to think anything other than a win is a complete disaster :D

We are probably shorter odds to go through now than we were before yesterday

I doubt the ref saw it, but, probably went on how the defender and attacher reacted, it's one of those where VAR won't overturn as it wasn't a clear and obvious mistake. Had it not been given I doubt there would have been much about it. Another bit of luck going your way, every team that wins anything needs a little luck along the way somewhere.

    Thats how I see it.

Dived in a bit stupidly.. Some contact but not huge amount. Once its given it cant be overturned.

saying we are all disappointed at the result is a bit strong, getting a draw away from home is great

3 very poor attacking performances in a row, albeit all away from home. Dunno what’s wrong, given where we are none of them seem to be enjoying it, they all seem weighed down and constipated or something.

Madeuke seems the only one willing to say **** this I’m having a go, and while he does makes mistakes would be giving him lots of game time in the hope he sparks something. Remarkable we are where we are given how bad our attack now is

Didn't realise til this morning that Everton are significantly better away than at home this season, have one of the best away records in the division.

    😬

We have a big break before our next Prem game so it is very important we win it.

I reckon we do Everton this weekend, 3-0.

Noni to have a great game.

One of the best defences in the league, based on statistics. It won't be easy to break them.

Would take 1-0, with a dodgy deflection in off Saka's ar$e or suchlike!

1-0 off someone's arse would be fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,036 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

If we continue to play as poorly as we have the last three games we'll get found out eventually. In saying that, I'll take another Brighton away performance this weekend if it's the same result

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,100 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

I don't think it'll be an easy game tomorrow at all. And I fully expect us to be in here frothing and raging at how we're playing... But a result is all that matters tomorrow, as City have a tough away assignment directly afterwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,847 ✭✭✭KaiserGunner

Could be another massive evening of premier league football ahead. A win at all costs, dont care how we do it. Going 10 points ahead albeit playing 2 more games, is a psychological blow to City before their game after.

Havertz starts up front, hopefully he doesn't hobble off after a brief appearance again.
