A significant chunk of US oil is refined in Canada yes. Canadian refineries are not boycotting U.S. oil. The relations between the two countries aren't that bad.

New refineries are being built in Texas and Lousiana and along the Gulf Coast all the time, there will be loads more in the next ten years.

Edit: The US is the world's largest producer and exporter of refined oil (with Canadian assistance in refining).

At this stage we just tune out crazy old grandad as he claims the Iranian people “are quite nasty”.

At a press conference Monday, Trump again called Schumer, America’s highest-ranking Jewish elected official, a “Palestinian” over his criticism of the war. “He’s gone from totally pro-Israel to totally pro-Palestinian,” Trump said. “He wants to protect the Iranian people, that are quite nasty.”

Matt deserves a good shlap himself. Apparently, it was all just a misunderstanding, at least after the money arrived.

Special Election in MTGs seat as she resigned after falling out with Trump. She won it about 2 to 1 before, but Georgia has run offs if you get under 50%, and there were 2 Republican candidates splitting the vote. The Democrat came first with 40% so it goes to a runoff. There was some surprise that the most popular Republican candidate was Clayton Fuller rather than Colton Moore. Fuller was endorsed by Trump which shows presidential endorsements still matter.

Trump's wealth increased in the past year by 27%. He's now got a fortune estimated at $6.5 Billion. He made $2 billion in the past year. Only in Iran (Alyatollah), Russia, North Korea, some African & middle eastern countries, etc do we hear this happening. But now the US have joined the corruption premier league. And the strange thing is, there seems to be outcry in the US about.

US military spent $9M on crab legs and lobster in run up before launching attack on Iran: report

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon apparently isn't feeling the same affordability struggles as many average Americans, as he approved spending more than $93 billion in September, including on luxury food items and iPads.

A new analysis published by government watchdog Open the Books found that in September — the end of the 2025 fiscal year — Hegseth reportedly burned through cash, including spending $9 million on crab and lobster dinners.

According to Military.com, an increase in military officials eating pricey meals has traditionally been viewed as a sign that something may be brewing — such as President Donald Trump’s war in Iran — though it appears Hegseth has been dining well at the Pentagon since at least last spring.

The spending review found that in the month of September alone, the Defense Department spent $6.9 million in total on lobster tail and $2 million on Alaskan king crab, according to the government watchdog. In 2025, the department also spent more than $7.4 million on lobster tail across the months of March, May, June and October.

The decadent seafood wasn't the only expensive sustenance purchased at the Pentagon. Hegseth also spent approximately $15.1 million on ribeye steak in September, $124,000 for new ice cream machines, and $139,224 on doughnut orders.

Due to the way federal funding works, there is pressure on department heads to end their fiscal years without a surplus of funds. If they do, it raises questions in Congress as to whether or not the agency or department needs a reduction in its annual budget.

That said, some of the purchases are lavish. In September, Hegseth spent nearly $100,000 on a Steinway & Sons grand piano to outfit the home of the Air Force chief of staff. He also spent $5.3 million on Apple devices, including brand-new iPads, according to the report.

The Pentagon paid $225.6 million for furniture, including $12,540 for fruit basket stands and more than $60,000 for high-end furniture maker Herman Miller recliners.

They just cant help themselves can they.

Yes I do understand the "spend it or lose it" policy that some business departments adhere to, but after all the bluster of the GoP regarding "waste" and saving the money for the American people, this is just a spit in the face to their supporters

Ah now tbf they didn't go mad on the piano - Steinways can cost $250,000. They must have got a baby grand 😀.

R.I.P. William Proxmire. Probably spinning in his grave. Nothing new with the US military, though, $100,000 hammers, $25,000 chairs, and that was back in the 1970's as I remember.

Kegbreath's probably spending it on high-end booze.

I wonder how much they spent on abortions for underage girls?

You can imagine this as a continuation of the Bannon idea..... flood the zone. Trump telling his degenerates to behave like degenerates, don't hold back on corruption, knowing that it takes so long to investigate and hold accountable (if ever) anyone carrying it out and if ever you're fired, you'll get a cushy job in some imagined role..

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

The Trump voters in the rust belt will be very happy that their leaders have been feeding themselves so well.

Trump and his fellow performative Christians (and those who fall for their antics), have, of course, never read Matthew 6:5-8:

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

The overall Dem vote was 40%, which was not bad in a district which was unopposed GOP as recently as 2016 and only 34/35% Dem in the last two elections. The Dems also gained a local House seat in New Hampshire, though try as I might I can't find the 2024 elections figures for comparison.

EDIT:- the GOP won the NH seat 57/43 in 2024. The Dems won this time by 51/49. So a 5-6% swing in both polls.

Secretary of War Hegseth has said that Trump has drawn up a new strategic map that includes territory from Greenland to Panama and the surrounding areas. They call it "Greater North America".

    "Greater Israel" for the US.

That seat will stay GOP , but a 5/6 point swing in such a heavily red district is significant.

If that held remotely close to that across the board , it would be a blowout for the Democrat party in November.

Has there been any advance on the "Do we trust our own intelligence agencies" front or is Trump going to listen again to the traditional enemy again to decide how the war against Iran is to be fought?

Is he going to believe Putin again, like he did when he was the 45th, and waste U.S lives and munitions in Iran?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,671 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

Trump isn't listening to anyone, he is bored out of his mind.

I genuinely believe when he was asked about the US murdering scores of Iranian children, it was literally the first time he heard about it.

The idea he is going to security meetings or at least not falling asleep in them is just wishful thinking.

Putin is loving this as it means he can get the sanctions on Russian Oil relaxed which gives him much needed cash flow.

Trump is preparing to "declare victory" and try to pretend like nothing happened , but the Iranians look like they are willing to dig in and keep up the attacks across the middle east and blockading the Strait of Hormuz.

This is the ultimate result of having a dribbling moron in the White House surrounded by other morons or worse - Zealots.

All the evangelicals think this is the coming of the rapture so they are overjoyed..

This is going to get very ugly very soon..
