Is anyone having issues connecting to that poxy Audi app the last day or so it's acting up. I deleted and reinstalled the app to no avail.

So my mate is in the process of buying an eTron 55, high spec with the funky wing mirrors

He was expecting 300+km on it but at the moment with a full charge only seeing 250km. In this type of weather, circa 12 degree, what should he be seeing? Thanks

My average consumption over 3 years was 27 kw per 100km, usable battery is 86.5 so that gives an average range 320km, more in summer less in winter. Depends on his driving as well mostly motor way in lower temps will be 250 or under for sure.

Sounds pretty normal, they’re very inefficient. Pretty reliable range numbers below when they were new. Degradation at this point could knock another 5-10% off.

Yeah he will struggle to get much above 300kms in it even in good conditions.

Mine was 26/27 average usage when I moved it on and was well over 30 at times driving higher speeds.

It used at least 50% more in any given situation than the other EVs I've had

Yeah, my app hasn’t worked in a few days. This happens too often for my liking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,965 ✭✭✭donkey balls

Normally the app sometimes fails to connect to the car but the last time it connected was 28th Feb. Pain in the arse last week having to use warm water to clear the ice off the windscreen.

After my scare last year i ditched my e tron 55 the thought of motor failure hanging over me was too much. I would still be in it only for possibility of the motors going, They are a real lovely car to drive lad in work went to Kilarney in his one and had no issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 182 ✭✭JeanRasczak

So sorry to come back, mate has the car and loving it. I test drove it and really nice. The steering a lot lighter than the ones I test drove. His is the higher spec with the wing mirrors etc

Now question, he can hear a whine noise coming out of the car when accelerating and slowing down. His concern is the noise is from the motor and it could be going?

Or it could be a wheel bearing. Just wondering does anyone know if the motor is having issues how you would notice it? would the motor have a whine coming out of it?

He has a video of it but you cant attach here

One of the lads on here unfortunately had a motor failure I'm sure he can tell you his experience. Or just look back to last June at posts from here

Might be worth watching this to see if your friend can replicate the whine on his e-Tron on a ramp ?

hi, looking at an a6 avant etron 252, stupid money but everything newish is but I’d be looking at keeping it for about 5 years.

I haven’t read the whole thread but there appears to be a good bit of negativity here about Audi and etrons in general. Thoughts or advice? Coming out of a polestar 2, loved it, polestar are trying to sell me a 4 but I’m not mad about how it looks and the avant looks spectacular. Don’t really need an estate but it just looks better in estate model.

I could consider the i5 touring as well I suppose

the negativity is regarding 2 things

the original etron (became the q8 etron) a) depreciates like a stone, or more like a heavy rock and b) it has an inherent design flaw that means either of the motors can go at any time and if they do and no warranty its the guts of a 10k repair per motor.

Its actually a great car and very comfortable just inefficient.

A6 etron was priced crazily when it came out, so id be comparing the avant you are looking at versus a brand new fully specced ix3 50 and see how it compares value wise, id be surprised if its a positive equation for audi.

Re the P4 i would only buy the business edition, the rest will depreciate very very heavily, while that will just depreciate relatively heavily!

The negativity is also based on how inferior, overpriced and poorly spec'd a car it is compared to the new BMW iX3 and possibly the awaited Volvo EX60.

If the Audi A6 avant existed in isolation and had no competitors, I'm sure most would think it a fine, if very expensive, car.

However it is the competition that changes everything and I honestly can't conceive of reason why anybody would get one over an iX3.

It's a better looking car imo but that's about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,190 ✭✭✭joe1303l

I don’t think an A6 e-Tron or i5 Touring mentioned above are really comparable to an iX3. The iX3 is in a more compact segment, effectively an SUV style 3 Series. If range is important, there’s little to touch the new iX3 but it’s not in the same segment as a 5 series or A6.

Where the Audi A6 e-Tron struggles is with warranty. Once it’s 3 years old, you’re on your own as Audi Ireland won’t sell you a warranty extension. With BMW, you can extend your warranty every year.

Not really that much in it Joe overall length aside, wheelbase similar and boot space similar.

people will cross shop for sure.

    New IX3

Length: 4,782 mm Width: 1,895 mm Height: 1,635 mm Wheelbase: 2,898 mm
    Boot Space: 520

    A6 etron avant

Length: 4,928 mm Width: 1,923 mm 1,504–1,525 mm Wheelbase: 2,950 mm
Boot Capacity: 502 liters (seats up)

Regarding extended warranties and that Audi Irl don't offer them i find a bit odd considering Porsche do, And are part of the VAG group.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,965 ✭✭✭donkey balls

Don't mind me asking but what garage are you looking at buying from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,190 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Agreed, there isn’t much in it, maybe bragging rights at the golf club as much as anything on whether it’s a 3 series or a 5 series. Maybe BMW should have called it an iX4 ?

Audi Dublin, its a pre reg with them 252, 72k, can’t post the link for some reason.

See what one of the posters means about the ix3 but I don’t like the look of them and the way the car looks is important to me as illogical as that might be after a while

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,123 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

if you really like it then they are lovely cars, just get as good a deal as you can and be prepared for pretty horrific depreciation!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭eastie17

I’ve had that with the ps2 am now in, it’s got everything and cost 68 when new 3 years ago. A bmw dealer offered me 20 a few weeks ago 😀 I have it on pcp so it’s going back unless they offer me a mad deal on a polestar 4 but not mad about them either

Sensible thing to do would be pay the balloon and keep it but would prefer to be in something newer if forking over a load of cash. Kids are raised I have the money, enough of being sensible 😀

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭eastie17

that’s a good call out re the warranty, don’t know that. Battery does have 8 years and 160k but if nothing else is covered then yeah things could get very expensive very quickly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,190 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Yes, it’s very short sighted of Audi Ireland as Audi already offer pretty good warranty extension options in the UK. Third party options like Mapfre or Carprotect aren’t worth bothering with.

there was a batch of A6 etrons brought in to the country back in November. Launch editions, some with those camera mirrors. They started off looking for 80k plus for them and the prices have been steadily reducing. I had a look before Christmas but wasn’t impressed with the trade in offer. The cars are beautiful looking on the exterior. The avant more so than hatch.
depreciation will continue to be steep for a couple of years though.

Is there no dedicated thread to the Q4 etron?

Hoping to pick a UK one up over the next few weeks but doesn't seem to be much about them on Irish forums. I'm seeing iD4 everywhere but the Q4 brother is rarely spotted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭eastie17

them emirrors are a load of ****, one I’m looking at doesn’t have them and wouldn’t buy one with them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,123 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

Nope, a few posts in her but this was generally a fat etron thread , that's what I started it with !

No and it could be a lonely place if it existed. Not that many sold here due to silly pricing when new. They’re a bit more plentiful now with some used ones coming from UK & Japan. Most ID.4/Enyaq issues will apply to the Q4 anyway.
