I got my S26 Ultra on Friday and decided this evening was the time to port everything over from my S22 Ultra.

The battery on the S22 Ultra wasn't lasting at all. I took the S22 Ultra out of the Otterbox Defender case that it's been in for about two years without ever being removed and the back of the phone is completely lifted away from the phone itself.

The battery is bulging out. It seems like the Otterbox case was the only thing holding it all together.

My problem is I have agreed to trade this phone in with Samsung and said it was undamaged so I really don't think they are going to accept it now.

After 10th March what is likelihood of decent discounts on s26 ultra? What has that been like in recent years? Thanks

It's good value if you're into billpay phones. Three are charging €149 and eir are €449. All of these are €65 a month unlimited everything plans with 2 year contracts + €3.50 April increase. Just bear in mind that those prices don't include the initial security deposit you'd likely be required to pay. This can be an additional (up to) €500 with Vodafone and up to €400 with eir/Three.

It's always better value to just go Sim only/PAYG and buy the phone outright.

I'm on a bill pay it's a tenner. It's not good value. Take finance from humm, that's better value. Paying 65 per month doesn't represent good value.

Its not for me. I get 15% off 1699 which brings me to 1435. The 256Gb i get 15% off to 1274 less another 15% discount from Groupon code and another 150 off via paypal. So that brought my total to €933less the VAT which i will claim and then sell to CEX for 475. I think my net price to change is €283

One day use of S26U + Buds 4 Pro = Good purchase, if not excellent (given the prices this time).

    Happy 😊

You just get the email. I got it for buds last week and i Have it for phone today. Supply your own packaging

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,393 ✭✭✭dan786

They might do claim free Buds 4 Pro promotion. They did the same with S25U and Buds 3 Pro last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭jones

Ah ok it's a few years since I used this but they always used to send out one of those plastic packages to return the phone. Should have read the email ha

There isn't a huge difference. If your not trading a a phone 65pm for 2 years v's buying directly and on a sim only plan is much of a muchness I think.

Is the 15% discount still available?

I've tried it and just get "null" or "copy" and not an actual code.

If anyone can get a code, I'd appreciate a PM. Thanks!

Never mind got Groupon code working.

Is €1,124.15 good for the 512GB.

This is with Groupon and PayPal discounts

Using the 26U since Friday, coming from an S25+. Couple of things I've noticed so far:

    • The S26U screen is definitely… different. The S25+ was cooler in colour tone and sharper whereas the S26U is much warmer and smoother - can look at initial glance as if the S26U is blurry side-by-side with the S25+ but so far using it for a few hours the screen is phenomenal.
      • Possibly a One UI 8.5 thing as the overall colour scheme is very different to the point it's not just how the screen renders them.
    • Privacy screen is a bit of a gimmick. Have it on for banking apps and PINs but to be honest not bothered by it.
    • It's not as good as maintaining a usable data signal in fringe areas as the S25+ was, but I suspect that could be as it seems to cling for dear life to borderline 5G whereas the S25+ was more willing to drop down to 4G which would maintain usable data for streaming. Possibly just needs a bit of tweaking - hopefully, because the S25+ was phenomenal in fringe areas compared to a lot of other phones out there.
    • Speakers are very good. S25+ was more on the tinny side when on the louder side but the S26U has more bass even at high volume.
    • The camera hump makes it ridiculously rocky when on a table and a lot of cases don't sit flat either so be careful if case shopping!
    • Few bugs with apps - PTSB, Sleep Cycle, not suggesting saved passwords - and notifications not popping up when locked. Update this morning seems to have resolved most of these.
    • Battery life is excellent but setting it up as a fresh install probably helping that somewhat.
    • Photos seem much better than the S25+ which was fairly mediocre and riddled with god-awful optimisation.

Have a client here who bought the S26U and used the trade in. She got the Pink one. I told her i am using CEX. When she looked her trade in is worth 85 more with CEX on the B but she says the phone is mint. She hasnt sent it to Samsung yet and is thinking she will sell it to CEX instead and just pay Samsung the trade in price by card. Has anyone done that? Whats the process she wants to know?

Is it my imagination, or has the 256GB already dropped in price on Samsung

IIt has arrived. Set up complete. Won't change sims until I get the case on Friday

    Mine worked without the SIM

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 949 ✭✭✭Nickindublin

Its working fine. Need a case before i sell mine to CEX

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,892 ✭✭✭✭listermint

Mute point I know, but you'll survive without the case to Friday,Unless your on site doing building work. I often go caseless for days on my phone just to get back to it's out of box feel.

Desk to pocket most of the folks phones spend their time there. Mines flawless since purchased.

Only 1tb available on the Samsung site now.

Will the S25 ultra decrease by much over the next few weeks, thinking this might be a good option if it falls by a good few quid given the 26 upgrade isn't huge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,892 ✭✭✭✭listermint

This never seems to happen funnily enough I've noticed the old models often went up in price for months after new was released.

Best bet is second hand for that tbh.

I have rocked many a time without a cover. Just have a bit of work to do to transfer certain apps.

On the display i find the S26U far more vivid than the S25 Edge. Colours pop so much more. More Vivid.

I bought the S26 Ultra from Samsung via Humm today. The Humm side has gone through but never received a confirmation email from Samsung and now can see 512GB is out of stock on their site. Contacted CS but no luck yet.

I am thinking could I also order it from Vodafone on bill pay to cover my back and return either of them (once I dont open it) if I end up getting 2 devices. Is that possible/free to do?

How much are you getting from CeX? For me, the trade in value is lower than Samsung, and much lower than private sale.
