Bodywork pretty rough on it. Steering wheel looks quite worn too for 55K Km’s. It was previously listed with Zucar but obviously they couldn’t shift it and just want to cash it out.

Yeah, I bet it was a farm car in Kerry. But it will still go for 10k+fees knowing how Merlin Auctions go.

This ioniq looks decent value for 8k-ish: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2019-hyundai-ioniq-nct-tax-perfect/41713280?utm_source=android&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=listing_share

Very clean looking car, should be loads of life left.

Presumably in an Ioniq like that you'd want to be disclosing the status of the gear reduction oil change service item. The fact it isn't mentioned means you're probably budgeting for it as a new owner.

    What else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,815 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

yeah Im not going to have the time to get to see it over in Merlins anyway, work is getting in the way this morning. I reckon it will sell out of my budget regardless. If anyone here sees it being sold (Lot 177) would appreciate you posting the hammer price later, Im guessing €13k+. There was a 2019 one for sale in NI with 120k kms on it for €9k but it sold fast before I had a chance to get up there to view it. Its quite the disparity as dealers here are asking €15k-€17k for 2019 versions.

But not getting anywhere near those prices though.

Ask in ioniq 28 thread. Main thing is this is a short range EV and a Kona with a 64kWh battery may be available for 12k+ with double the range.

    Common issues on ioniq 28kWh

Reduction box bearings and or motor bearings. Looking at less than 4k repair bill in Earls in Arklow. Noise most noticeable at low speed high power acceleration. Charging gearbox oil may help but it's a design issue. Need to listen for slight bearing whine.

Charge port not locking cable into charge port resulting in no charging or unreliable intermittent charging. No locky, no start of charging.

    Rear door handles breaking off.

Folding mirrors not folding out or in

Rear wheel rotation sensors, tend to go around 100,000km on both sides and can cost 400 per side or diy using Chinese parts for 20 euro but a relatively big DIY job. Dash lights up like a Christmas tree but may be intermittent at the start. Fault clears and light go off.

There is a 3 way valve relayed to cooling inverter which can give intermittent errors. Car says very vague "check EV system" but it's a cooling 3 way valve.

Other than that they are crazy reliable. Very rare to have a battery fault. You can read the battery state of health with an odb dongle and an android app like "soul spy" but typically it reads 100% SOH up to 160,000km and above.

Typically they charge relatively fast at a full 50kW unlike say a leaf.

I was keeping an eye today, hoping it would open at 7k but opened at 8k and sold for 8600. I thought that was 1k too much with that body condition.

Earlier on a 40kWh Zoe provisionally sold for 4200 and a 2019 BMW i3 120ah version was marked prov. sold at 8.5k. It will be interesting to see if they come back up again nex time. A 2020 eTron provisionally sold for 17.5k, 2021 Tesla Model 3 provisionally sold for 19.6k or thereabouts etc etc.

Mad for that Tesla. I sold a 22 AWD M3 2 weeks ago for €19,500.

It was a 2021 M3 performance with 73K Kms. Looked pretty clean.

I had a good look over the 2021 Model 3 Performance yesterday. All 4 uberturbine wheels were in bad need of refurbishment. They'd received a poor touch up job with black paint but looked awful on close inspection. Two of the tyres had large cuts to the sidewalls and would need to be replaced to pass an NCT. The white seats were very dirty, a lot of it would probably come out with a good valet, but I'm not familiar with how well stubborn stains clean up on them. One small dent at the rear farside wheel arch. A couple of minor scrapes and lots of paint swirls all over which would all probably be improved with a good detail. The plastic layer over the carbon fiber spoiler had mostly chipped off...€800 for a new one from Tesla if you wanted it looking perfect again. It had the old Intel chip rather than the Razen chip. All in all I'd say €3000 would bring it back to its best provided nothing wrong with control arms / bushings which seemed okay to my untrained eye (Merlin don't let you test drive). It went for €19,600 + fees at today's auction. I had a max bid of €17k in. I don't really need/want a performance but if it was to go that cheap it'd be hard say no! I'm still on the look out for a RWD 2022/2023 M3 or MY, ideally blue with white interior if anyone trading in with Tesla would like an extra 1k over Tesla's offer and a quick hassle free sale!

I won an ID4 today at a UK auction for €9,600. It's a 2021 77kwh with 84,000 miles. Hopefully it all goes well.

Thanks for the info. €8600 a bit lower than I expected it to go, even with the body condition I might have bitten at that as it was a higher spec Comfortline with adaptive CC, etc. Have been looking for 2019 eGolf for a several weeks now and they are very thin on the ground in the private market with only dealers having them asking €15k. My alternative is something like that 2019 Ioniq you posted yesterday. Theyre a solid car but I just prefer the look of the eGolf, plus its got the larger 38kw battery.

I'l register it up North for a couple of months. So just €200 for the ferry

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,190 ✭✭✭joe1303l

€8600+fees was too much for that 2018 eGolf considering the spec and condition. They only have a 32kWh usable battery but are pretty efficient, hence comparable to an Ioniq 28.
    Proper Exec spec eGolf here from a trader that isn’t badly priced if you haven’t seen it;

an 18month old i5 msport Touring for €52k, with just 11,000km. These will drop further once the iX3’s land.

Google says the list price on these was €94k in 2024

Didn't know there was a fastback/estate in these. Looks class.

Be careful here, this particular dealer imports a lot of UK cars that have had previous damage. Worth reading a few reviews and/or getting it checked out. Plenty fresh used BMW i5’s coming from the UK and Japan currently. They seem to have depreciated pretty heavily compared to their 530e PHEV sibling.

Lot of car for the money. I did not know there was a touring version of those either. I do remember the saloon starting at €90k before any options when it launched

Tourings were about €3K more than the equivalent saloon when new, hence they are relatively scarce.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,763 ✭✭✭✭unkel

They are all scarce. A base 5 series without options for nearly a 6 figure sum. Madness. Not all that long ago they were €40k

Very highly specced including the phenomenal Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Such a shame that it doesn't seem to have a sunroof as a dark interior with black headliner just feels like a grim coffin 😅

I did wonder the same tbh, but there was nothing in the description, and it mentions clearly how much it’s priced below the average, without saying if that’s the reason. VERY unscrupulous if that’s the case, or great value if it’s straight.

Edit: there’s actually 10x i5 tourings on DD at the moment. The msport touring is always the pick of the 5 series range imho, I had a 2008 many years ago and loved it.
controversial opinion perhaps - I’ve always found the saloon 5 series look like fleet/company cars.

Probably because they are? I'd say for decades a very high percentage of buyers of brand new base 5 series like 518d / 520d were lease companies. Perhaps higher than of any other car. Although they did make sense as a private purchase when you got a cancer bonus from the greens from 2008

I had one of those ‘08 520d SE’s before the msport Touring - it was €46k new and the much fabled €156 tax 😂.

Post this before and looks like it falling apart since I did. Price drop on it, was closer to 20K must be rightly fecked underneath …. but it powers up! 😀

A 231 E-tron GT with 36000km went for €46.5k provisional hammer yesterday in Wilsons.

Also that unchargable Zoe that was doing the rounds there since before Christmas is up on DD now, surprising he doesn't just get it fixed himself and sell as a runner.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.
