Flying to Los Angeles next week.

Anyone got up to date info on the process for US immigration in Dublin airport?

How long does it take to clear immigration these days?
I have ESTA visa completed online. Is there much scrutiny beyond that? Is it true they examine social media, emails, etc or is that all exaggerated?

I cant speak to times in Dub at the moment. But a few months ago I cleared immigration in Chicago. They checked passport, asked how long i was staying and purpose of my trip and that was all. Cleared in about 10 mins prob 1 min at the actualy desk.

Its all exaggerated. They'll speak to you for 30 seconds. The usual "why are you traveling, how long are you staying, maybe what you do for a living.

Last time there was no queue and I was through in about 4 minutes.

I was on the first flight out 2 weeks ago so there was only about half the officers on duty, took almost 6 minutes from the escalator to the gate, I've done it in 3 before.

The lax flight departs 3.20pm so it's a reasonably quiet time for CBP. Last time I flew in November, only questions asked were did I have anything to declare - alcohol or tobacco- that was it but I do have an extensive travel history to/from. US.

Its incredibly quick, from the time you come down the stairs you'll be through in 5 minutes.

    Went through last week.
Flashed the boarding pass at the bottom of the stairs. Walked through to the other room and straight up to the agent.
He said "Look into the camera" and "thank you".

No passport or fingerprint - that was it!

They don't request a hard copy of the ESTA aswell.

They never did as its linked to your passport.

Went through again last week and, while it was much busier, it seemed they were directing non-Irish passport holders towards additional security checks - we sailed through

Did it yesterday. The additional checks are for those connecting from elsewhere , not originating in Dub.
