The left are the ones that have been steadily ruining Europe over the last two decades. For Europe as we know it to survive, we need a complete change from the crazy policies of the recent past.

In contrast, Von Der leyen had said people shouldn't shed a tear for the destruction of the Iranian regime

Did you ask the vast Iranian community high up in the mountains of Kerry for their thoughts on VDL?

Nobody is shedding a tear for the destruction of the Iranian regime, other than the Irish left-wing.

Ukraine is recognized as a global leader in integrated, cost-effective defence against missiles and drones, especially Iranian Shaheds and their Russian clones, yet the US failed to engage with it sufficiently ahead of time to protect the Gulf. I suppose Trump couldn’t bear to concede that Zelensky had some cards after all. Now he also has face up to the fact that his buddy Putin is quietly siding with Iran.

You’ve referenced multiple times you’ve spoken to a lot of Iranian friends in Ireland…was just wondering what the thoughts were from the local Iranian community up in the mountains of Kerry.

What's the latest from the Ayatollah of McGillicuddy?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Considering I only saw her speaking 5 minutes before I posted , no. But I imagine my friends would agree with her. They've been quiet open in talking part in protests over the last few weeks in Dublin regarding what they think of the regime. That's despite them having family in Iran

Has anyone noticed that so many were distraught when Iranians were supposedly being killed by the Iranian
Government, but now that the Iranians are being murdered helter-skelter by America and Israel? Well, that is just fine and
    dandy. 🤡

Does your dishonest simplistic propaganda represent the right wing in Ireland? Are you right wing?

    It's too easy lads...

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

I don't think anyone would shed a tear for the destruction of the Iranian regime but that is not an inevitability of this action.

Trump doesn't seem to have a plan, I'm not sure Israel has a coherent plan either. Hopefully no Europeans support them in this action.

Who is this "left" that has supposedly ruined Europe over the last two decades?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,890 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

I guess anyone but Brexiteers or Orban. It seems they think the right is completely behind this action in Iran. Not just the idiotic Neocons

We live in a one dimensional universe.

If you want a clean environment you are left wing it seems.

    EVs are left wing.

    Solar panels are left wing.

Abortion and contraception - not ok if you are right wing.

    Vaccines - left wing nonsense.

The fact the Houthis have kept their powder dry to date should be worrying the West. If and when they decide to start attacking shipping again, the economic outlook will be catastrophic.

Pretty sure a global fuel crisis caused by a poorly planned war with Iran outdoes any of your rants about the left. That's not to mention all the other incredibly stupid policies by the Trump administration over the last year. That's not to mention the actions of Israel.

Centcom release more images of a US Himars system firing Atacam missiles at Iran from another neutral state.

Later footage shows a Camel herder discovering the same discarded missile container in neutral Kuwait. The narratives seem to be unravelling especially Trumps claim that Iran bombed the school and now we know Tomahawk missiles were used on the attack which Iran do not have.

The MAGA movement is at heart an attempt to move America back to an imagined past. Way, way back when, there were conservatives who supported tariffs but they learned a painful lesson in the Depression. Since then most have been hostile to tariffs, especially when imposed unselectively against the rest of the world as Trump did. It’s why Trump got so angry when a Canadian ad simply quoted Ronald Reagan’s criticisms of tariffs in general. Of course, Reagan experienced the Dirty Thirties personally.

The hostility to green technology will look quaint in a few years. The world is heading that way - it has to - and there’s nothing the anthracophiles can do about it.

Vaccines - what can one say? The greatest advance ever in medicine under attack by the American government.

Obviously no-one is going to support children, or any civilians being killed in either direction.

But the Lebanon problem is another one that needs sorting. You have Hezbollah in control of Southern Lebanon and firing rockets at Israel, and the Lebanese state unable or unwilling to tackle that situation even though the majority of Lebanese people do not support Hezbollah.

It is a complete mess of a situation.

Many people point out that Iran is justified at striking all the Middle Eastern countries around it for hosting US military bases, or at least accommodating the US Military to some degree. The only reason the death toll is low is because those countries have very effective air defenses.

Now, saying Iran is justified is a perfectly fine opinion to have. But then simultaneously some of the same people pivot to Lebanon and say Israel is attacking a soverign country, disregarding international law, spreading its war, etc.

What are Israel supposed to do when the south of Lebanon is controlled by Hezbollah who dominate large parts of Lebanese society and openly attack Israel?

After many wars/invasions, many of Israel's immediate neighbors made peace and that peace has held. It's not like Egypt, and certainly not the Eygptian public, have any love for Israel whatsoever, but they have had decent relations for around 50 years. Why doesn't Israel attack them? Why doesn't Israel attack Saudi Arabia?

I mean, Iran is a huge geographical distance from Israel, but for the past 50 years it's been hellbent on destablising Israel through various means, prior to the revolution and the emergence of that radical governing ideaology, Israel and Iran had no real quarrel for that reason.

I'm not talking about Palestine/Gaza, because that's a different but linked discussion, and I'm certainly not justifying anything Israel does in either Gaza or the West Bank, maybe someday they will have to answer for those actions at the ICJ.

But Iran and Hezbollah most definitely do not do what they do, out of some noble cause of solidarity for the people of Palestine.

Generally, people (I don't mean the specific poster I quoted) who make out that the situation can be boiled down to Israel just picking on people around it for no reason other than some lust for wanton destruction or grander conspiracy to conquer the entire wider region doesn't do a rational discussion any favors.

I don't pretend to know what the answers and solutions are to the broader conflict in the short and longer terms, but it is not as simple as "If Israel would just stop attacking other countries everything would be OK".

Their are advantages and disadvantage of liberal vs conservative. It's a trade off.

What's happening with MAGA is just beyond bizarre. Unfortunately they've got social media and fake news to spread their ideas. I don't think they believe it themselves at this stage but have gone down a path and are afraid to admit they are dangerously wrong.

There's no conspiracy, they (Israel) are an expansionist colonial regime who want to extend power and territory in the region. They openly say this.

How do you feel the last few pages went for you? I thought you came in strong, started well but then was totally outclassed by those who actually read past the headlines, you seen some of that off the wall and bad faith posting by the usual clowns and thought you could compete, this post of yours is tragic!!

With tiktok and x, they seem to have most of social media supporting the movement now and alot of the traditional media in US being pro-israel you dont see many spaces for alternative views. Its weird seeing most of social media be pro government, as long as Maga in charge.

Thank you for that excellent, calm, balanced and rational, fact-based post.

I get the impression that the Lebanese government is well peed off with Hezbollah at this point. It's unfortunate that it does not have enough power to exert full control in the country.

exact same as those who are so very concerned now with Iranians being killed but who weren’t bothered when the regime were killing Iranians.

Let’s be honest, for the vast majority of people this is a game of what side you’re on, and the fact it’s the United States, and of course, Israel, it comes down much more to taking one side and over another; actual concern for people in these conflicts is secondary!!

Shur look at our own President. Next to nothing uttered about the Iranian regime murdering 1000s of its citizens, but now coming down all critical of what is happening. I mean, if that doesn’t show you the agenda and reasoning, nothing will
