Is that graph from the MyHyundai app somewhere?

My first proper spin in the I6 today. East Cork to Phibsborough and back. 516km. This thing belongs on a motorway, incredibly composed, efficient and quiet.

This is a car you can drive at motorway speed and still get 450km. One disappointing feature was the auto lane change, what a terrible implementation of it. Constant beeping and disengagement mid manoeuvre. Ended up turning it off, it was driving me nuts.

Charged at Ionity Cashel on the way back, cracking speed. Over 230kw. Charged for 12 minutes and got 34kwh. Plug and charge worked well with Electroverse, until I tried to stop the charge, the Ionity charger screen was blank, ended up removing plug and charge from the app and that stopped it. I assume there's a simple way, tried the rfid card too.

Similar experience to your own, the lane change needs to be updated, too frustrating on current implementation. I saw 258kW in Ionity Athlone last week even with all bays full, fantastic charging curve, in and out in less than 20mins going from 12% to 80%.

I use the Ionity RFID or the app to start my charge, but set the max DC charge to 80% (or 70%, 60%, 50% - whatever you want) in the car and then the charge stops automatically once it hits that. Just get out, unplug and drive away. That should work on Electroverse also.

Really enjoying mine so far - I went for the N Line trim and I’m very happy with it. The performance is excellent, and it’s incredibly smooth and quiet. It’s a very comfortable drive, and unlike what’s been mentioned above, I actually think the lane change assist is great. I’ve come from a Tesla Model 3 with basic Autopilot, and in my opinion, this is far superior.

Quick question: has anyone seen any software updates come through? I can’t find any indication that one is pending or has been installed. They’re supposed to be OTA, so I would have expected to see some kind of notification. Just curious!

There has been only one update since Jan and I installed it manually (update.hyundai.com/EU). If an OTA has not come through for you then it might be worth installing it yourself as it contains incremental automatic background updates for maps. When you bring it in for the free vehicle health check at 15k km the garage will install it in any event.

This is the latest version for ccnc cars (2026 refresh).

TLDR short version: I’m leaning strongly toward an Ioniq 6 Platinum because it seems better specced and better value than the Kia EV3 GT-Line, and I’d love real owner feedback on comfort, seat height, extras, and long-distance touring.

I’m especially trying to figure out whether the front seats will feel too low for bad knees, and whether it could handle my regular Dublin–Galway family trips as a return journey without needing to charge.

    The Long Version:

I am seriously tempted by the Ioniq 6 at the moment and would be going for a Platinum trim if pulling the trigger (the N-Line is nice but the Platinum has a better spec for me). As is my usual way, I seem to be looking at a car that does not get a huge amount of love but that really does not matter to me. I had been looking at a KIA EV3 GT-Line, as my wife would like all the bells and whistles but when I looked up the Ioniq 6, it seems to be about 4k cheaper and has more spec. I know they are completely different cars (Small SUV vs medium saloon) but if I can get the missus to sit in one, she might come around… The funny thing is that she can't even drive but still has the veto on the type of car we buy. 😂

From those of you here who own the 2026 version, can you give me an idea as to how "low" the front seats sit? I will be test driving one when I have time but would like to get an idea beforehand if possible. I currently drive a Kia SOUL EV, which is a taller than your standard hatch but I had a Gen 1 Ioniq PHEV (the original "Wind Knife") prior to this and a Toyota Auris HEV before that. I found the Gen 1 Ioniq to be low however it did not cause any difficulty for those of us with poor knees but it was a little lower than the Auris.

I'm really liking the striking red colour and would more than likely go for that in the end (I have a thing for red anyway). Can anyone tell me if there are extras to be added to the car? From the Hyundai site, it looks like the cars come specced already and there are no optional extras to mention but I imagine the choice of paint colour will influence the end price somewhat. I do see an option in some markets for wing cameras instead of wing mirrors but I would not be going with those anyway.

A long post, I know, but I would love to hear from current owners here as I find that kind of feedback to be better than all the reviews I have already looked at. I'm not too worried about ferrying children or even adult passengers most of the time as it is just my wife and I now but having an idea of long distance touring would be very useful too. We regularly travel from Dublin to Galway to visit family and my hope would be that the Ioniq 6 could do this as a return journey without charging. We currently get to Galway in the SOUL and charge there before heading home, so it would not be a deal breaker.

    Thanks in advance folks. 🙂

Still no sign of the Ioniq 6N, which was due to be available by now.
From what I could find, there are no EU type‑approval filings for it and none have been delivered to a customer anywhere.

Could this be cancelled, or at least delayed a model year? Economic uncertainty, US tariffs etc. are not conducive.

In terms of comfort, my annual milage is around 35,000km p.a. and I find it really comparable to the 520D MSport that I used to drive. It really comes into its own on the motorway at 120km/hr constant.

There are both heated / cooled seats with memory function, so once you find that elusive comfy driving position, save it to your profile and if you use your phone as a digital key, it automatically moves to your settings when you walk up to the car.

The Platinum has a sunroof where the N-line doesn't, so if you are very tall, be aware of that in case you find it cramped in terms of headroom. The seating position is a little bit higher than you might expect - higher than a Model 3, but not as high as an Ioniq 5. I used to have knee pain getting in and out of the 520, but that's gone since I moved to the Ioniq 6. There is no substitute for a test drive though.

I do the Galway Dublin run routinely enough and I'd say it "might" be a bit tight to do without charging on a cold winters day - 440km is the upper end of the range on that route when it's really cold (1 - 2 degrees) if you keep it pinned at 123 (120 gps) for 90mins each way. No need to charge though if you are more comfortable at a constant 110km/hr.

The last generation 77kwh model was easily 480km range on the motorway in the summer, so I expect the Platinum to be about the same based on my experience so far. Depending on your own particular journey length, you'd need to be comfortable with less than 5% return arrival but not everyone likes living on the edge.

It charges so fast though, that the time you need for a quick run into the loo and grab a coffee is all you need to add 50% back into the battery. Manual preconditioning of the battery is fantastic in the winter for fast charging speeds if you are an Waze / Google maps user rather than the inbuilt satnav.

You can add 20% in 6/7 mins on an ESB 200kw if you are willing to wait with the car to get your home arrival % more comfortable. The Sandy Road hub, Curry's (ESB & Brite) or ESB Carnmore tend to be my "go to's in Galway or the ESB hub in Kinnegad for a 10min quick top up on that route.

Thanks for that @CivilEx . I will be test driving one next week and I am looking forward to it. I am not too worried about the headroom as I am under the 6 foot mark (just) and have had cars with a sunroof previously.

Good to hear about the motorway range, and I get the Summer/Winter range differences too in the SOUL. I usually pootle down the motorway on cruise control set to between 100 to 110 most of the time (fast enough to not hold up trucks or buses) and will stay in lane 1 all the way to Galway and back but it is good to know I could hammer it 120 and still be relatively safe, range wise.

The knee strain is a big thing for the missus so I will definitely have her with me anyway when test driving.

Thanks for taking the time to put in such a thorough reply, I really appreciate it. If I go ahead and buy, I will put a pic of it in here. 🙂

Got mine last week in nocturne grey €42,500 all in from Hyundai garage in Rathdrum. Delighted with it so far. Previous car was a 212 leaf which I loved, but this is a nice step up in looks, quality and range

Yeah the N line are a beautiful stylish car alright - well priced too.Good luck with her.👍

looks great! A very underrated car IMO. And that’s probably only down to it not being an SUV.

When they sort out the looks of the rear end with next facelift it will look class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 387 ✭✭pandabat

Probably I'm alright with the looks (though I preferred the "old" rear end) but the ongoing uncertainty around ICCU-related issues put me off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 564 ✭✭✭GPoint

there’s talk that they extending iccu warranty to 15 years

I am not ok with the design though , outside and interior too. Window operating buttons in the center console remind me my first fiat :) Not buying this talks about cocooned interior feel and flat door panels, rear doors are normal!

Haven't been in one, but I love the exterior

I’ve had a few problems with mine lately. Front seat is creaking badly, sunroof shade is rattling when retracted. It then came up with a red check electrical system warning last Friday, it drove fine so Mrs dropped it in to the dealer. Not sure what they did as service was closed but they did manage to destroy the paintwork even more than they did the first time.

    IMG_0567.jpeg IMG_0565.jpeg IMG_0564.jpeg

Then today I got a call from herself that there was no sound coming from the interior, indicators were silent, all warnings were muted (a good thing in my eyes), infotainment had no sound either. I disconnected the battery and it solved it. Wishing I kept my Bz4x at this rate.

    That’s bad washing!

Needs a single stage polish at least.
Are they rectifying it for you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

They were closed when I collected the car Friday, haven't had a chance to call in since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

    That would annoy me.

Any hint from Ioniq forums about what the gremlines could be Johny?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

I’m just back from dealer now, I’ve highlighted the issues and they’re going to rectify.
No idea on the gremlins, haven’t really gone looking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 564 ✭✭✭GPoint

Every dealer employing a cheap guy who uses his dirty brush and a bucket of muddy water to wash the car should consider replacing them with some one half decent. If we had more sun in this country a lot more of such issues would have been flagged. You would not notice such scratches on a grey rainy day.

Had my cars scratched same as yours after service in the past.

Advice to you is ask them not to wash your car. They do more damage than courtesy with such crap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

I always ask that they don’t wash it, however it was the Mrs who dropped it in and she didn’t think of it. I had a Lexus that I spent 2 days doing a full paint correction on, asked the dealer not to wash it, they washed anyway and destroyed all my hard work. I wish I didn’t care. I’m going to purchase a sign to hang on the rear view mirror.

You’re correct about the sunshine, it was instantly noticeable because of it.

Nice, it was a toss up for me whether I'd get the black or nocturne n-line, I went for black in the end and am delighted with it, if only there was a way to get the birds to not poop on it literally every day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 toneygecko

Murder would be done, sorry to hear you had problems, worrying you had electrical issues, did they elaborate on what that was?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

Loose connection 🤥👌 It wasn’t a loose connection, fault cleared itself I’d say, or they just reset the code.

I have no faith in any of these main dealers to fix anything.
My E Transit was in to get non functioning rain sensing wipers sorted a while back. I wasn’t even going to bother as I thought they’ll just make a balls of it. They had it for a week and guess what, they made a balls of it. Still not working and hours of my time wasted. Useless

edit: they did wash the van for me without destroying the paint tbf, so there is that. 💪🤠

Just ordered a new Ioniq 6 Platinum in Ultimate Red. About a 4 week wait time but apparently there'll be a ship docking in Cork on the 15th with a load of them.

Can't wait. First new car in almost 20 years. 🙂
