New CU being fitted in the next few weeks with EV charger and providing for a Heat pump.

Planning a PV array with battery storage so what needs to go where to stop me feeding the grid in the event of a power cut

    Thanks as always

one of these (or similar)changeover switches built into your consumer unit

You'll probably also need some type of N-E bond at the inverter. Have a look at this and some more of the Sunsync videos for education, if its if interest to you.

Ran the 3 core 25 sq today from meter box to where the cu will be. 16 meters of cable weighed 23 kg so not easy to handle.

    Step 1

    Modify a cable spool

Step 2: separate the above and drop in the coil

and mount on a pipe above the duct: hole in cable roll reduced to 60 mm

Weight of cable working with you as it is pulled off the roll and pushed into the duct.

Used Blue gel lubricant to make it easier, worked well.

Step 3: finished job: used plastic covered braided wire to pull as the hole in th meter box was too small for the 8mm blue twin loop

good man. It’ll be difficult for your rec to gland the swa off in your meter box and install your over current protective device and enclosure. See can he do this now whilst there’s access to the ductwork and behind the meter box so he can pull the slack back when he terminates.

Thanks Will check that out: it was difficult to pull through but should move now.

Edit: checked it out: moves very easily back to the CU location

Is your inverter/batteries going in the same spot as the CU?

    Thanks for contributing.

Can you say a bit more about the rationale behind the question.

Probably not as it will be a ground based system as I suspect the DC cabling would be very onerous.

At this stage just want to plan for ducting and any additions to the new CU
