Sales on the up and up .and not just lbx . I think if they had opened some standalone dealerships in the big cities rather than just an add on to Toyota it would have helped get rid of ' posh toyota " image

Karl goidwin sold it recently , could do with a wrap in a more exciting colour but it's a good mix of tourer / supercar and as mc larens don't hold their source well they can be picked up cheaply in UK

RR Ghost and Spectre Black Badge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,583 ✭✭✭goochy

Like the Spectre though not in black badge as think a Rolls should be classy

Unfortunately they lose a huge amount of value so hard to see people upgrading to newer ones .Rolls lose alot of money resale but an electric Rolls is a recipe for disaster

The type of person that buys a brand new Rolls-Royce doesn't give two fcuks about any of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,583 ✭✭✭goochy

They do , people who Can afford these cars have money for a reason - they know a Rolls loses a fair bit of money but with electric cars depreciation is on another level

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,631 ✭✭✭MarkN

well Mo Salah has a Spectre, is he caring about depreciation? Possibly not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,583 ✭✭✭goochy

But they are unlikely to buy another

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,631 ✭✭✭MarkN

who are we to know / speculate… I’d say the majority of their customers are under the radar purchasers and where the cars go, whether they’re added to a collection etc will remain a mystery!

it’s been like that with the S Class for years - the people who wanted one only wanted a new one. The 2nd hand market is mostly taxi and chauffeur drivers. The 3rd hand market was lads like us “taking a chance on a cheap luxobarge”. Then they’re end of life.

Rolls Royce depreciate because there’s very little secondary market - the Phantoms and Cullinans all go to wedding/cheuffeur hire, and the 2-door models are rare to begin with, but need v brave buyers.

Stunning white Audi R8 passed me on the M50 this morning. I wouldn't have any kind of grá for Audis but this had the V10 and sounded class. Turned off at Dundrum. Really looked and sounded great.

The client base for Rolls-Royce quite literally consists of the richest people in the world. The average net worth of a new Rolls-Royce owner is easily in the tens of millions. Every single model in their line-up depreciates heavily and this has always been the case but they still manage to sell thousands of cars every year with the cheapest of those starting at £250k. The type of person that buys a new Rolls-Royce is more likely to be extremely loyal to the brand, because what's the next step up from a Phantom? These people don't feel any impact from a car depreciating £100k in a year.

Every time I read one of your posts I lose a few brain cells.

This is the first electric Rolls , the depreciation is likely to be very bad every year the car ages like other electric cars and not level out , smart arse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,924 ✭✭✭Damien360

What he is getting at is the client base has zero issues with depreciation. It's a status symbol for the super wealthy, like a private jet and the loss of 250-300k over the life of the car doesn't even register.
