My own driveway and lane is in pieces too. I've got cold lay and builder stone on standby order just waiting for better weather. Around us we could plant trees in some of the new holes

Wet weather followed by frost will make potholes in poor quality surface with no effort.

My car is officially 20 years old.

Guess I have to post in Classic Cars forum now. Have it for 12 years. Still runs. Got a set of brakelights in from Japan that're green-**** free and a new rear bumper.

Wondering about a 08 vw transporter problem, noticed left light not working, changed fuse in dash, worked for few days, off again, now fan comes on at full when driving, diesel gauge goes to 0, left bulb still not working too, and now a coolant light on dash despite coolant at full. Must be a short somewhere, havnt got it booked into garage to check yet, still seems be driving fine despite these issues

Anyone familiar with the vw arteon? Lookin at a 2024 one, currently drive a 19 superb, test drove the arteon and found it to be lot less roomy than superb and rear window poor vision compared to superb too, maybe safer to go for another superb... Arteon seems lot smaller and lower than I thought

What do people think of the new Honda Prelude? It's a hybrid with the same engine and motors as in the Civic hybrid but with brakes and suspension from the Type R.(I don't think they are exactly the same) But better than what was in the Civic hybrid.

It will be dear as it's 50k in France so maybe mid 50's or even closer to 60k here after paint and delivery fees are paid.

I know someone with a diesel car and went to the petrol station and there was two green and two black hoses. They grabbed the black without thinking and it turned out to be petrol.

if people make mistakes then you need to question road markings.

Good parking would have painted spots to avoid confusion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 768 ✭✭✭Anois_

The markings look perfectly fine to me and I'm viewing them through a lens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,849 ✭✭✭Midnight_EG

Can't you see the highly visible yellow lines marking out the spaces, and the equally highly visible yellow arrows the driver has parked in front of?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 564 ✭✭✭GPoint

    I can!

    But…

Some people are colour blind do you know that? Also reflection from the light.

It might have helped to paint the spots in white and yellow for the directional signage/lane markings but yea, that's ridiculous!

I see China is making brand new bodies for a lot of the classis like ae86. You would still need the running gear but easier to buy the full body then trying to fix a rusty shell that spend 20+ years in Ireland.

I've seen a video on YouTube of some channel that bought an Chinese ae86 shell and it was pretty ropey to say the least

So if you buy a new shell, a new chassis and a new drivetrain… triggers broom

Price of disassociated logbooks for rusted out cars must be on the up!

I wonder who would be at fault here responsible for the damage.

    Happened today in Cork.

I'm sitting in the car, spot that's right next to this pedestrian path between the cars. I'm looking away from where my (driver's ) door is, I grabbed the door handle and simultaneously I looked towards the door and slightly opened it when out of nowhere there was a woman driving past me on this pedestrian path. Some brand new KIA, I have a dashcam so I can pull out the reg etc. from it. Now if I didn't see her in time and hit her car with my door, damaging her car and the edge of my door. Who's responsible for the damage? I'm leaning more towards her being at fault because she wasn't supposed to drive there in the first place. It's like a footpath? No idea really. Anyway, it's a really stupid thing to do.

I'd say her as like you said it is clearly a foot path and marked as such.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,269 ✭✭✭✭User1998

Your fault I think. Just because they are doing something illegal doesn't change the blame. For example if a car is illegaly parked and sticking out or causing an obstruction and you scratch off it its still your fault.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 564 ✭✭✭GPoint

how is it opening a door is his fault? I think Garda call out and they will decide but I would think driver of other car at fault.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,269 ✭✭✭✭User1998

Because your opening a door into an oncoming car.
