A good win after the opening 2 losses. Losing to Antrim at home was very bad. Sorcha Mccartan was back today and did very well, got around 6 points. We have more players to come back from injury too so today was a very good result away from home.

A badly needed win in fairness.

I said last week that I really wouldn't fear Kilkenny in Croke Park - they don't have the forwards.

They got destroyed by Galway tonight 0-35 v 0-17

    Galway looked very sharp.

Looking forward to the match in a while, hopefully an entertaining one.

It is just league but you could drive a truck through their defence. Never seen KK so open and as poor as that. Seemed to have no game plan at all

Good start, couple of early points for Barry Walsh

Ref has been worth at least 6 points for limerick. But a very good half from us. Limerick with their main team have been battling but we are more than a match for them. Barry and Alan Walsh doing well and showing they want that starting place. Exactly what we want.

4 yellow cards for Cork of which 2 could easily have been red. I think Stack was lenient for TOM flick on Byrnes and TOC removing Hayes helmet. Hayes had a wild ground pull but at least it wasn't on the head, at most a yellow.

Limerick pulling well clear now but our paths will most likely be crossing again in the league final. If we're going to take at least one hammering off Limerick this year, then it's better to have it out of the way now.

Would like us to be winning every game but honestly, no harm done. Plenty to work on.

Tonight was not a hammering, Corks first 45 min was good, Limerick's old guard did nothing - had 6 wides in first half whereas Cork were very accurate. Plus Cork finished well.

Happy enough with that. The three goals separated us. A few good performances, a few scores went a begging, overall, bring on Offaly and more than likely a place in the league final v Limerick or possibly Galway - I would prefer Galway.

That really felt like Ben said to everyone calm down and take it easy in the second half. There was not as much battling and hounding of limerick in that half compared to the first. Probably wouldn't have said that but it just felt like the vibe!

Its like we did what we wanted to and saw what we wanted to see. The main thing that is clear to see is that we are not afraid of them anymore.

On another day Alan Walsh could have got 2 goals and he definitely should have taken one at least. Barry Walsh looks a natural at this level and will be a great asset going forward. Tommy O'Connell was really good but with a yellow he had to temper his game somewhat. Tim O'Mahony was very good on frees. Eoin Downey was excellent and seemed to be constantly fouled when he had the ball. The ref gave him nothing though. Ref had a very poor game but thats what can happen. Good to see Harnedy get a run out.

We actually finished well and like last year this will be a great thing at the end of Championship games.

After the apparent doubt of Eoin Downey at centre back, thought he had a very good game.

Decent outing for Cork with the team out.

Thought ye ran out of steam but were well in it up to that. Limerick look almost in championship mode with the team they put out and their conditioning.

Their line up v Galway will tell alot about how interested they really are in the league. If they put out a weaker team, they could well lose.

If they dont get to a league final they would have a 5 week break to their first round of championship. Id be surprised given how they are going now if they didnt fancy a league final appearance.

They should fancy getting to the final alright. Galway will surely put it upto them. Kinda would prefer playing Galway in a final - if we beat Offaly of course, which we should do.

The league needs something extra really like maybe the winner getting a 2 point bonus in the championship. Too much messing about, sure Cork clearly eased off the gas in second half. Not taking from Limericks performance of course, just saying proper intensity wasn't there throughout.

delighted with that performance to be honest. I think when the ground hardens Limerick won’t be up to much, they’re not even nearly as good as they were

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,012 ✭✭✭robbiezero

Its very underwhelming alright. Im not sure how much real jeopardy there is in relegation either when teams seem to be on half throttle for a few games anyway.

Football league is way better. Relegation is a serious concern as you may end having to fight to even play in the AI championship and that's just Div 1. Division 2 is where the real action is at.

in fairness the league has always been about getting things right for the championship , in fairness the better you do in the league the better you are likely to do in the championship, its an excellent competition and tonight's game was a good watch , but you watch a league game really for individual performances or tactics , championship is about wining and how you win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

yeah a good game and when you think only 8 or 9 of the starting all ireland team started tonight too , i disagree about limerick not being good , they are getting their second wind trust me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭King Power Fox

I hope you are right. We gave Cork far too much room for the first 20 minutes, they had 6 or 7 points on the board before Limerick got their first point. In having said that Cork's radar was in for that period, really accurate shooting - like Limerick in Thurles 2 weeks ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

i taught limerick were good , dominated the middle 3rd all night ,since minor level most of them forwards had trouble with wides even going back to gillanes minor days , but they are encouraged to shoot on site from kinnerk , kinnerk has limerick playing an excellent triangle passing play which is unique to any other team in the country that every other team struggles to deal with , that's what creates them shooting chances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Concerns for me are some sloppy goals given away, the goalkeeper situation Collins is a liability with his puckouts at this stage, and the forwards struggled to win the high ball at times as well. Limerick were at full strength and we weren't though and we kept with them for a substantial portion of the game. The goalkeeping and ball winning in the forwards issues have been our achilles heel over the past few years, but overall things are ticking along nicely now. We'll give Limerick plenty of it further down the line.

wouldn’t read much into last night given the team but one glaringly obvious issue is goalkeeper. He just has not got it

Was very good Cork crowd last night.

Thought we were lucky not to have player sent off.

Disappointed second half but in honesty it might take bit of the heat off us now.

Brought my father in law to his first hurling game. He is Argentinian originally although moved to north America. He loved it but also thinks we are **** nuts haha.

He was blown away at how fit they were.

I told him wait till championship.....
