Offaly game is definitely not worth watching. Hopefully Cork match is a bit better

i heard that off an offaly man that was at the game , he was happy with the -8 scoreline but not happy with his sides performance , that was enough for me , winter hurling take no notice but its good to see how some individual players go , one of the worries from the game to work on this week is surely the amount of frees conceded to a smaller team especially in scoring range

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭Shocs24

One consideration is the referee. He ruined the game for both sides. I actually thought he was going to give yellows for shoulders

yeah i didnt see it yet but as expected the contrast in sizes was fairly vast , they need bulking up them offaly lads to give them any chance , what hope would they have against the likes of gillane hayes and heagerty in a championship game physicality wise

I'm hearing Fitzgerald has a hamstring issue and p casey a groin or hamstring depending on who you talk to. Both out for 6 weeks from time of injury I'm told

All teams have agreements with each other to put their full matches onto a Google drive folder for each other. I’m guessing this person is related to in some way, someone that has access to the folder.

it makes sense , i remember the hassle the clare footballers used to have a few years ago in obtaining videos of upcoming teams , one famous coach of tyrone at the time told us that no video of his teams games were going down south

Not very sharp in front of goals tonight, Cork the opposite, very sharp for the first 20 minutes before Limerick came back into it.

Can someone please tell me how Cork kept 15 on the field, jesus christ that Stack gets worse every time we have him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭biglad40isback

ref assessor will have a lot to report on Stack. Blantant interference and forceful pull on khs helmet is a straight red He is 6 foot 6. What else was he reaching for.

I honestly don't know how some of these lads are left back out on the pitch the following week. The Hayes helmet pull is the kind of textbook red card offense they would show Stack and the other referees time and again before the start of a season you would presume. It's such a straightforward call.

Btw, I'd love to know what Stack gave the yellow card for? There is clearly no yellow card offense in the Hayes helmet pull incident. Serious risk of injury when a player is going past at that speed and an opposition player pulls the face guard like that. Despicable call by the ref.

boc mentioned in his post match interview if it’s limerick we are back here again. How ? Has this been pre arranged. I assumed coin toss when the league final teams were known if it was a cork /lim/ tipp affair ?

home and away deal - last one I can think of is league quarter final played in Páirc ui Rinn in 2017. So must be that.

Good performance tonight. Cork started well and their running game caused early problems, but Limerick eased through the gears as the game went on.

The key thing against Cork is being able to maintain a high intensity workrate. Once you put consistent pressure on their running and shooting they are very beatable. They look lethal in open type of games that turn into shooting contests.

Byrnes had his best game in a good while. Played with the sort of aggression that he always has at his best. Lynch was outstanding, coming up with dirty ball again and again and using it well.

Thought Gillane looked dangerous and caused plenty problems.

O Connor has had a massive league so far. He's becoming one of the best forwards in the country. Nice cameo from Darragh Langan who won 4 or 5 balls late on and gave the pass in for the penalty.

I thought Stack did ok in terms of general play and letting the game flow....BUT there were some seriously contentious big calls.

Hayes was rugby tackled when bearing down on goal, a cast iron black card. Tommy O Connell reefed Hayes' helmet off by the faceguard. Thats a red. Tim O Mahony jabbed Byrnes through the faceguard with the ball well gone. Also red. Hayes got a yellow which wasnt even a foul. Cork player jumped in front of his swing.

Cork are going to have players sent off in big championship games.

Barry Walsh looks a good find for Cork. Brian Hayes is an absolute handful. Very hard player to deal with.

i dont think cork are very beatable , they have a predictable high octane first 20 or 25 minutes in games that you have to withstand , and even if they go 7 or 8 points up you know you will get a chance to claw it back against them

the most important area of the game is the middle third and for the second part of it they seem to drop off just after half time but they do find a second wind and finish strong which makes them dangerous

limerick are setup to dominate the middle 3rd and with a fast short passing game it opens up so many chances for them ,they could easily hit 50 shots on goal per game come championship which is kinnerks hallmark to be fair , if you are doing that regularly you are going to be fairly hard to beat

From Kielys interview it seems like O Donovan would be available for a league final if we manage to get there. All other injuries minor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 401 ✭✭Tommysocks11

Good win last night, sets us up for another crack at them in final if we beat galway. Some good scores last night and another good showing from o Neill and AOC who is a class act and a sweet striker of the ball, we should feed gillane and bull faster and quicker as sometimes our short passing breaks down out the field when we could have just landed it in to them, still unsure about WOD centre back but he was good last night in fairness, munster will be impossible to predict this year and we have a brutal start in clare and cork away so we have to be up to speed straight away or we will be under fierce pressure to qualify

It's gas go over to the cork page they're complaining about him as well, reffing is an extremely difficult job I certainly wouldn't do it it's impossible to get all calls right.

On the match itself I'm happy enough but cork had a way less more regulars than us, that been said though still happy a few of our stalwarts aren't up to full speed yet I'm hoping they can get there , I think Kiely and co are trying to time it to perfection.

Cork obviously a huge threat, lethal forwards etc but they have issues in defence which i feel we can exploit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,557 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Agree. Very mobile and lethal forwards which can be a handful. As we all know there a confidence team. When their tails are up their hard to stop but their prone to let the head drop I.e. last years AI final. Mentally fragile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭High bike

Agreed its a difficult job and i wouldn't do it either and i don't expect a ref to get everything right, thats impossible at the speed the game is played at.However what i do want is cinsistency and impartiallity which we don't get from Stack.I flagged this before the match last week and unfortunately he proved me right with his lobsided officiating. As for the Cork forwards yes they are decent but i wouldn't swap our 6 for theirs.

No public sale of tickets for first two championship matches

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,672 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

    Rounds 1–3

Tickets for the first three rounds will be sold exclusively through county boards.

This approach reflects the fact that four of the first six games are being hosted in smaller-capacity venues, while the other two games involve Cork, Limerick and Tipperary, with the first round game between Tipperary and Cork being a repeat of last year's All Ireland Final.

Any unused or returned tickets from county boards will be released for public sale on the Wednesday prior to each game.

    Rounds 4–5

Round 4 and Round 5 tickets will go on general public sale on April 8th.

I would image some tickets for the Cork game will come on sale but the Wednesday before the game will leave people waiting. Clubs will be getting a bigger than normal allotment too so I'm sure most who want one will get it.

But don't forget folks there is no mad hype in Cork.

Limerick got breaks from the ref too. SOB arguably ovrrcarried for his goal and lynch could have been penalised for a throw for CON goal. On the other hand the one he was blown for looked a legitimate handpass.

Very tough to get everything right, especially the first half, such was the intensity
