Car doesn't stay connected to the WiFi though when it's turned off (it doesn't show up as a connected client on my router). Only through mobile data.

So I downgraded to 2307 to enable sideloading and wireless ADB again, then upgraded to 2506. It looks like the GPS location seems to be fine for now. So I'm not sure what helped really: the hard reset to downgrade, or just not running the latest OTA update. I still have the new HUD as that's a module update. The radio is back to being crappy, so it seems like this was tied to the infotainment version rather than the separate module updates that are being installed as part of the OTA update. It could be that whatever they've done on the infotainment update to improve the radio reception is messing with the GPS reception. Edit: by the way my app connection has been really solid as well over the weekend since going back to 2506.

Tl;dr: BYD, get your **** together on the software side. Software is not this hard.

Telling me password incorrect, Listermint even though reading off the box?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,884 ✭✭✭✭listermint

That's your login password. The one on your box is your wireless password .

Generally login is just admin username admin password. Or admin username and leave password blank and hit enter.

WiFi password won't work for logging into router

How do these settings look Listermint?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,884 ✭✭✭✭listermint

Looks good. Check which network is stronger for the car 2.4 or 5. Number of bars. The 5ghz would deliver higher speeds though if it's stronger signal.

Has anyone noticed any change in consumption since the update?
The weather isn’t really any better and I haven’t changed my habits or usual route, but mine has dropped quite a bit from around 19/20 kWh to about 16.7 kWh. (Driving in sport mode all the time)

I'm back on the previous version but noticed something similar over the weekend. Even though temperature wise it was still around 10 degrees Celcius I saw an average of around the 16-17 kWh/100km as well, whereas normally I'd see 20 - 22 on the same stretch with similar temperatures. I thought it might have been the newer version potentially having some changes in terms of the consumption calculation that aren't reported in the release notes, but I guess it was just magic BYD Seal weather.

I have 2 EVs and both of them have started consuming way less battery in last week or so, even bigger drop than you have experienced. The weather really is having a positive effect, winter is over

I noticed an improvement too. When we got the previous update last year, I noticed consumption seemed to get worse. It coincided with worsening weather, but that update was also meant to ‘optimize’ power output from the battery in cold weather. What that actually meant was more heating of the battery at startup (which takes energy) so that it could output more energy if the motor(s) wanted it, rather than limiting power.
Perhaps they have refined that now. Especially on RWD it’s not necessary to output as much power as for example AWD could handle… This is just pure speculation of course… but there does seem to be a consumption improvement since the update…

I think the wet roads of the last (feels like) 3 months plays a factor as well, together with the temperature. I think I read somewhere that wet roads can lead to a 5% - 15% increase in consumption (depending on how wet and how deep the puddles are) as the car has to push the layer of water out the way to maintain contact with the road. Plus the climate control will do its best to keep the windows clear with the humid conditions, so I reckon there's a bit of energy going into that as well.

Anyone tempted by the Seal 6 lads now that most of our cars are knocking on 2 years?. Looks nice in fairness, back of it reminds me of a VW CC i used to own.

It is indeed. I’ll never buy ICE again. Ever. This FULL EV malarkey is the way to go. Once you can charge at home (or at work) and don’t have to drive hundreds of kms per day, it’s an absolute no-brainer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭jaymac430

absolutely agree. PHEV is just potentially double the trouble later on, and for what? So that you can pay ever increasing petrol prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭Sealman

Definitely agree once you get used to full ev andcas long as you can charge at work/home you wouldn't go back. I think its ugly as well except maybe from the back. Reviews have said not a drivers car as well, poor steering feel etc

I've seen reviews the engine is gutless and not very refined at all. Similar coverage for their hybrid pick up in Australia.

    Not an ideal combination

Would be hard to back to that after having 530 HP under your right foot!😃😃😃

Have noticed since the software update that the volume on calls received has gone to pot. Even with it up full volume it is difficult to hear callers properly.

I actually had the same issue, forgot all about it.

New seal to be released soon in China and Europe, may be in 6 months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,492 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

Yep, probably max 50% vol of what we had before update. Another break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 876 ✭✭✭CivilEx

A range of 820km wltp potentially, and charging from 10% to 97% in less than 10mins (if you can find a 1,000kW charger). That's a serious car for those doing big milage. I'll definitely be taking a close look at it when it hits our shores hopefully later this year.

Got weak signal around car when using App this morning, wouldn't connect. Then when I turned on car got message on screen e sim do you want to connect to customer paid sim or giveaway by byd options. I clicked on giveaway by byd and App started working again, anyone seen this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,492 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

Not yet, but I’m sure you won’t be the last to report the issue!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭Sealman

Hopefully it won't keep doing it, otherwise the App is useless now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,884 ✭✭✭✭listermint

Sit down beside the car and perform a test using an app like this

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wifiauto.lte5g4g3g.swift.speedtest.networksignal

Should give you some ideas of quality and latency

that’s the Seal 08, which is nearly 5.2m long compared to ‘our’ 4.8m current Seal. It’s the next class up, and isn’t scheduled for manufacturing for the China market until later this year. I’d be amazed if we see it here in the next 2 years. They are also planning a Seal 07, which is closer to our Seal (at just under 5m long), but that won’t have the same range as the 08, and I also can’t see it coming here before next year at the earliest.

That Seal 08 looks more like the size of the current Han, too big for my tastes. I car like the current Seal with much more range and faster charging speeds would be very appealing though!
