    Excellent!

Great news for Alex - puts him in a position that he can be taken seriously as a team player. He did so well with McLaren during the FP1 sessions. And with a year of F2 under his belt, he has a good steed to progress and mature.

Good stuff, if he can keep his nose clean, maybe get a few FP outings that will help his stock rise.

Had a lap deleted and because of Mini stopping on track, it was an all or nothing last lap for him as he was stranded down in 15th, but he pulled it out of the bag and briefly went top before dropping to 3rd.

Sprint race is at 3.15am tomorrow, where Dunne will start 8th on the grid.

Feature race is at 00.30am, Sunday morning with Dunne in 3rd.

Did well to qualify 3rd, but has his team mate ahead of him.

Stenshorne showed some flashes last year so Dunne could have his hands full with him

Dunne finished P3. great start to the season.

From an 8th place start. In contention for the win in the main race from 3rd I would expect.

    This too shall pass.

He looked a lot more patient in this race compared. Less of the risks that got him into trouble last year.

Important to be the first Alpine over the line too because that's a separate competition he'll have to win each week

**** Stenshorne took him out. Utter madness

and it was all looking so good…

I think that was all on Alex to be fair? Cut across him too soon after the overtake.

And then seemed to slam on the brakes as soon as he was past.

I was thinking he learned from his mistakes last year, seems like he still has some to learn.

He's going to get a penalty for that and it will apply to the next feature race. He's already digging a hole for himself so early in the season and he looked to have the pace to win it by far

Dunne is disliked by all in F2. He is a total lunatic and is likely to take anyone out at any time rather than just clean racing. McLaren are lucky to be rid of him.

Did you canvas "all in F2" yourself or did someone just say it,because it sounds like….you know…..bollix!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,578 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

Just look at last year in F2. How many drivers did he take out in mental attacks. Dunne is an accident waiting to happen. And I believe Rodin Motorsport really have to retire him before he does more damage

A really solid performance from Dunne yesterday and then complete stupidly this morning which isn't out of the norm from him unfortunately. I assume Dunne was trying to cut across Stenhorne to stop him going down the inside

Had hoped he'd calm down and be more strategic. But looks like more of the same. He really needed to get through this season with a lot less drama to last year. Now facing an uphill battle to make F1.

Was an idiotic move from Dunne, hard to understand what the hell he was thinking.

5 place penalty for the next race and things like this will make his chances of getting a seat in F1 even harder

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,571 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Woke this morning, turned on the F2 feature race on catch up before the f1. What did you do that for Dunne? Unnecessary and stupid. Needs to cut this behaviour out ASAP or he'll be throwing his chances away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,321 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

Really concerning to see Dunne on the first weekend of his second F2 season having his biggest head loss so far shooting himself in the foot along with his teammate/Rodin who could have been on for a 1-2 today. His comments on the radio about Stenshorne were even more bizarre

Dunne needs a complete squeaky clean remainder of the season but he may now have already used up too many ill-disciplined red flags for some F1 team principles to ever consider him for a drive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,870 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

I think you're right. His judgement is awful at times. And to take both cars out in front is criminal level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,578 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

I really don't understand Dunne. I know he is only a kid and doesn't have much concepts of how things work but to destroy his own future is incredulous. Is there not one person who can advise him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,578 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

That said any advice is probably too late at this stage. Nobody in F1 or indeed F2 would go anywhere near him from this point.
