While we're left waiting for a direct bus, I have a 9am flight next week and as it stands Uber is showing €38-49 and Bolt €42-57 which is scandalous for one person. Any cheaper options? Dublin airport parking is equally extortionate.

Free Now is showing 24-37 euros from Dublin 8, which is a lot further.

That's the mind-blowing thing, like it takes me 12 minutes to drive to the airport but because it's M50 the distance causes the taxi fare to fly up. I deleted Freenow after a really bad experience but I might download it and see what it says anyway

Edit: for 7am Wednesday is showing €28-43 which is a huge range

I was looking forward to that direct bus until I read it's taking in Clongriffin too. I envisage constant delays and cancellations.

Is the bus a complete non runner for you? I've done the N4 and change over in Whitehall three times and it isn't the worst for €2. Start of the morning rush hour could be a different story though..…

Anytime I'm flying with the family I always use these guys https://www.classiccabs.ie/ - based in Baldoyle but no bother with Blanch pick up. Website is awful but it's easy to book and they're always 10 mins early. I used them last summer and I "think" the fare was about €35.

The fare is determined by the meter and so will depend on traffic, hence the wide range of estimates.

Another option is train to Drumcondra and Aircoach to the airport, it stops right outside the train station.

Why don't you ask the taxi driver to not take the m50?

And the 16 and 41 (also the 19 but that takes an extra 30 minutes as it goes via Ballymun)

In fairness, having got burned by ghost buses in the past when I had to be somewhere for a particular time, I would NEVER rely on Dublin Bus for the airport!

If you can get yourself to anywhere on the Dublin Express route, they're very dependable, and my go-to for getting to the airport from Dublin 8 (sets off from Heuston and straight down the quays and through the port tunnel)

I suppose it depends where in Blanchardstown you're starting from, but the M50 would seem like a no-brainer in terms of speed at that hour of the morning.

This place is €35 by M50.

Problem with public transport is needing to be there by 7am. The early morning buses out here are notoriously unreliable, it came up in the Dail last month in relation to people working at the airport
