Can't discharge to grid consistently

    Hi all

    Hoping someone can help. My setup is Solis 5kW hybrid inverter, 3 Weco 5.3kWh batteries, 15 Aiko Neostar all black panels. I'm with pinergy and fill the batteries in the 2.00 a.m. To 5.00 a.m. window. No issues with that. Now the days are getting longer I've spare capacity I was planning to discharge before 2.00 a.m. The issue I'm having is inconsistent. Sometimes the discharge works fine. Discharges at a rate of 2.5kw with 2.2kw or so going to the grid the rest is house load. Sometimes the load will ramp. Up to the full 2.5kw to match the battery discharge and zero export. There's nothing in the house drawing this. So it must be the inverter. It matches on the Solis crowd and when I check the export logs on esb networks. Anyone know what might be happening. Could it be the CT clamp?

    Do you have an immersion diverter? Eg an eddi?

    It's not the CT as it seems to be measuring everything else fine. It does seem something is just running.

    The load value is a calculation,

    Load = Grid (-+) + battery (-+) + solar.

    Wait I have an ev. I've a record of when this happens and when I charge it. I will cross reference them a little later. Thanks for the reply!

    You are right it was the car. Can't believe it didn't click with me. Thanks so much. Been pulling my hair out for 2 weeks on it. I've just set a charge window in the car to sync with it as well for now but wonder if export margin in the zappi would also do the job.

    I have a similar setup to you with a Solis inverter but only 2x Weco batteries. I am finding it difficult to fully charge them in the EV rate window starting at 2am. Their BMS limits the current to 20-30A for the first 45 min or so which means they miss out a lot of the potential charge.

    Would you mind sharing your charge window configuration?

    I set it just to charge 2.00 5.00 at 100a. That limit at the start for you is possibly because they are too cold. Are they in your eaves or out. Door?

    Thanks for sharing.

    Mine are actually in the attic, the attic insulation is quite thick so it does get cold but not as cold as outside! The minimum temp last night was 8C for example. How do you have yours warmer?

    I've an attic conversion but keep them in the eaves. This can happen once it goes below 10 degrees. I've some leftover kingspan I plan to make a box to drop on top of them. For now though I have an electric fan heater on a smart plug and a temperature sensor in there. If it's below 8 degrees at 1.30 a.m. It turns in for 25 min. Have you them for long? I got mine last year at the end of March and first noticed this in November. Took me a while to work out what was going on. Was about a week around the new year where they were very bad at charging so that's when I set up the fan.

    Ah, good to know that you solved it with heating. I’ve mine since December so only ever had them in cold weather!

    Thanks for the info.

    You will probably see them work okay over the next couple of weeks and then you have 6 or 7 months to come up with a solution!
