Today is even better than yesterday, feels warm and sunny all day, first time since maybe early October that I broke out in a sweat on my walk! Everyone outside today after several months of being stuck indoors the majority of the time. Some people even in t-shirts and shorts today. If we could put a pause on the weather and actually have days like today between now and mid October i'd be very happy.

Sun only just starting to break through now in Greystones now. Has been cloudy here all day up until now. Was in Dublin (Sandymount and Blackrock) earlier and was lovely there.

Overcast & dreary afternoon in Cork. Foggy now with the manky stink of fireplace smoke in the air.

A wretched day here in Limerick. 5.6c and raining lightly all morning. 19mm already since midnight. Feels very wintry out.

Front certainly has more energy in it than was looking a few days ago when it was looking more showery than prolonged widespread rain like this.

Couldn't be more different to yesterday here in the east if you tried.

Even though it's 12 days away, it's not looking good for St Patrick's day. With the Jet firing up with a north/south temperature contrast, the charts are showing squally, cold and wet conditions. Not great parade weather for the floats. Maybe it being FI it might dissappear like the snow charts, but it being March, it's wishful thinking 🤔

The good of the past week has been destroyed in less than 3 hours of heavy rain. My garden was still a bit squelchy yesterday, not quiet there for the lawn to be cut, but it would have just taken 2 more days in a row like yesterday and I could be the position to finally cut the grass. However todays rain, everything is coming back the way it was very quickly. Driveway starting to waterlog, standing water regaining at the back of the house, the squelch that was starting to improve is now back to where it was a week ago.

Basically we need an entire week without a drop of rain and decent sunshine to see an end to the saturated land, we we're getting there but today has been a huge setback.

Rain has turned into heavy sleet here at Dunshaughlin with the odd wet snowflake. This time yesterday I was on a lovely walk sweating with 16C and beautiful blue skies. What a difference 24 hours makes in Ireland. IF this was a month ago this could have been a snow event, it's getting very close here at Dunshaughlin but will probably stay as sleet.

March isn't called the month of many weathers for nothing. March and April I tend to think of as the most bipolar time of the year for weather.

Shur the Beast from the East was in March, and typically a few snow showers too.

I remember playing a GAA match on Easter Sunday one year, about 30 years ago admittedly, and it started to snow during the first 5 mins, you couldn't see the other side of the pitch during it. By half time there was about 2 inches of snow on the pitch. At half time with it snowing very heavily, the ref abandoned the match. That was in the first week of April that year. We ended up without about 4 inches of snow that day. It did only last for a short while though.
