hi, I am not from Ennis but I am commuting from my home place to Limerick which is taking me over an hour. I am looking to buy a house in Ennis. A new housing development is being built on Lahinch road called Gallán Nua and am thinking of putting down a deposit. I am just wondering what area is like? There is a new housing development going to be built on Tulla road but I am on waitlist for phase 2. New builds so hard to get that I don’t want to miss opportunity while I have one and it is not crazy expensive to buy just yet.

I'll qualify this by saying I'm not from that side of the town but I would consider that to be a nice area. The new estate would be a little bit out of town for some but against that for someone commuting to Limerick a big advantage would be closeness to the bypass and the ability to skip the nightmare of going through the town centre. Shopping wise you're a bit away from the big supermarkets but you do have the Centra at the petrol station close by. Recreation wise, the estate is close to the Lees Road Amenity Centre although getting there at the moment is a little bit all around the houses. That's as much as I can offer you but, hopefully, someone living on or near the Lahinch Road will be able to give you a more local viewpoint.

If I was going to live on Lahinch Road I'd say out that far is ideal. Less renters more permanent residents.

Just wondering did you go ahead with booking one of these houses ? I note your post is from April and we're in a similar position as you as regards commuting and kind of surprised that there are houses left. We're planning on looking at one on Wednesday or Thursday.

    Hi Horsey,

Just wondering if you went with An Gallan Nua after? My husband and I have just put down our deposit!

    Hi Sallysaucer101,

We are just like you. We put down deposit for the same housing development not too long ago. Just wondering what estimated completion time the EA or builder promised?

so sorry that I haven’t responded. I only logged back on this site and saw responses. I ended up during the summer withdrawing from An Gallán. Before a house became available in An Gallán I was very interested in the new development Cedar Hill on The Tulla Road. It would have suited me as I would be that bit closer to the motorway. I commute to Limerick and easier / shorter to get back to my home place. I was very lucky that a house became available there. House is supposed to be ready by this summer - am at the kitchen designing stage.

    Hi Handy,

We were told the end of June by the forman on the site, so fingers crossed for that, as paperwork states November, but that is just to cover themselves in the event of anything delaying the process. I know we are in the last phase of the development. Have you been given a date?
