Agreed - I think Talarico has a better chance than Crockett for some sadly obvious reasons.

If Cornyn wins it will be after he's spent huge sums of money and the next few months are going to get UGLY in Texas with Paxton.

I think that race would be very close , but Cornyn probably still wins , the benefit for the Democrats is that he'll need to draw money from other races to win which may help in other places..

If Paxton wins , I think Talarico has a real shot - Paxton is a horrible person with a LOT of nasty baggage and can be tied to Trump every which way.

Sick British media supporting a lying convicted rapist

I am happy Iran regime is gone but the lyingatohah is still about.

Europe must close off all supports to US

When I listen to Hegseth, I really wonder where America’s friends are going to come from in the future. That country can look forward to ‘curses, not loud but deep’ from many quarters.

Yes I agree, but two rights don't make a wrong.

I'd be a lot happier if the Israeli, Iranian and US leadership were all decommisioned, but at least we have one gone for now.

If it's any consolation, both Trump's and Netanyahu's regimes are going to end in failure very soon too. As well as Putin's.

Mad to look at Marine Tracker, and see the big blobs of tankers all stacked up either side of the Straits of Hormuz, almost like a giant game of chicken... 'You go 1st, No, You go 1st'

It looks like in Iran we'll have, 'the King is dead, long live the King'. The son takes over, so much for regime change.

Imagine having a leader who feels he has to deny he’ll get bored with the war he just started.

He is such a disgusting individual, though one of many in that regime. So arrogant, cruel and heartless

7pm is a ridicules time to close polling boots. It is designed to stop working people from voting. There are a large number working two jobs. The reason republicans do these sort of thing is voter suppression. They pretend to be fair. For example, a few years ago they touted the fairness by citing the placement of a polling box in every county in Texas. That is true. However a polling box was placed in ‘ Loving County ‘ population 43 in 2023. There was another box in ‘ Harris County ‘ population 5million. Some bullsh1t from Texas republicans especially Abbot and Paxton.

Leavitt says Iran's leaders are "paying in blood" for what she calls their crimes against the US.

It’s like something you’d expect IS to say not the representative for the leader of that puke inducing term “free world”

The karolying press conferences are a waste of time, same **** different day, and no hard questioning.

The voting hours were set by law at 7am to 7pm in 1985.

This was the legislature at the time.

    image.png

The Governor who signed it was Mark White, Democrat.

Harris County had 60 early voting polling sites this time around. https://appfiles.harrisvotes.com/harrisvotes/prd/docs/VotingInfo/EarlyVotingPDFMaps/EarlyVotingMap.pdf

They have had two weeks to go to a polling station, and since 1944 employers are required by law to provide paid time off for people to vote on voting day if their work hours do not allow at least two hours to vote 7am to 7pm.

I thought it was sickening too but the real miscalculation was being there in the first place…avoid any press conferences with him if at all possible..Merz tried to introduce some semblance of a sterness by mentioning Ukraine out the gate but you could see from Trumps body language he wasn't even countenancing pretending to be diplomatic..tbh I kind of think this is so far out of normal behaviour at this level that 1) they have no **** idea how to handle it 2) there may be no way to handle a complete and utter dickhead and his retinue of complete and utter dickheads anyway

Trump is a twit and he's likely to shoot from the hip leaving you in the ****...its no problem to him he's been swimming around in **** of his own making his whole life but some of it is bound to stick to you

There was literally no benefit to engaging with the bufoon in his own pram surrounded by sycophants ....the real test for the EU is in how they plan for the long term and what actions are taken...

And one step that should be taken is to avoid and minimise any one sided public interactions where you are in the gobshites back yard....in many ways these are not serious people...its like the businessmans uneducated prepubescent teenage kids and their friends unlocked daddys gun cabinet...

Their lack of ability, judgement and their actions could have serious consequences for other countries, their own country and their citizens but like most fcukwits they'll probably get away scot free, maybe even make out like bandits while others suffer those consequences..…

At this stage I think it's anyones guess what happens as a consequence of this.....

I think they could have seriously weakened their ability to project force when this is over and started a whole load of fires they will either have to keep putting out or walk away from and leave everyone else picking up the pieces....I hope its neither I suspect the latter.

The US military going back to 70’s Vietnam era being “baby killers” now the blowing up schools and murdering school children. War criminals the lot of them.

So it turns out the planes the US/Israel have been blowing up were actually just paintings 🤦‍♂️🤣

Eh? I just went back to my post, and it describes the operation exactly as I remembered it. I handed over my ID once.

I mention the ballot sheet at least three times, have you an issue with my relative emphasis on that?

Yes, I believe ID should be provided. I note that Texas law does have a provision for voting when no ID can be obtained.

    image.png image.png

If you don't have any of those, you can still cast a provisional ballot and then follow up with the county registrar.

This does not seem particularly unreasonable.

As posted on the Iran thread, you may want to look up the original, longer videos of those bomb drops, which are from last year.

“This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with” says Trump of Starmer. I suspect he’s unaware that’s not exactly an insult in many parts of the world.

And lessened further by someone who is definitely no FDR

very odd looking through the periscope of a modern submarine sinking a ship. I think it’s only the second time since ww2 a sub has sunk a ship.

Those parts of the world don't interest Trump.

He's interested in war and Churchill at least for people like him is the ultimate war leader

China understands that the global south is undergoing rapid change and has many unhappy memories of colonialism and its aftermath.

    Starmer is certainly no Churchill.

One of Churchill's famous quotes was we will fight them on the beaches. Starmer welcomes them on the beaches.

Its not often the White House/Trump Admin people get things really wrong. It sounded like Karoline Leavitt on RTE news just now saying they got the No 1 submarine. It's either SNAFU or the message got garbled in transmission.

INS Khukri, torpedoed by PNS Hangor, 1971.

ARA General Belgrano, torpedoed by HMS Conqueror, 1982

This would make it the third.

Trump, from an interview the BBC covered…..”Spain have actually said, we can’t use their bases, and that’s alright we don’t want to use them, we could use their base if we want, we could just fly in and use it, nobody’s going to tell us not to use it, we don’t have to but they were unfriendly….” And then just goes on a longer diatribe, the man is absolutely deranged, firstly the US did ask, were told no, then Trump alludes to invading if he does want to use it…

The man is a basket case. What a time to be alive….

Another sickening thing for me is I expect, if the war ends up being a disaster once the dust settles and the heaps of bodies are counted in Iran, the Americans will stick their heads in the sand (or up their prodigious arses) and wail + cry "Oh woe is me, Israel" (or who knows, maybe "the Jews", that ever popular eternal bogey and target of conspiracy theorists) "made us do it" somehow.🤢They don't seem to do any self reflection as a society any longer, it's always someone else's fault.

They lie as easily as they breathe...

"The White House said today that Spain had agreed to cooperate with its military campaign in the Middle East, but the Spanish government has now come out and said that is not true."

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Good response to the no Churchill quip would be if only the Yanks were as keen to engage in conflict when Churchill was PM as they are today.
