I was recently talking to an older gentleman who had cancelled his sky a few months back, he told me they harassed him for weeks trying to make him change his mind. The poor man has a stammer but would be a stout character besides.

In the end he told them "I'm going to the fffcuking home" (old folks home) they left him alone after.

    It made me laugh.

I cancelled my package again last week. Year 22 of doing it. I suspect I’ll get the 40% off text again but I am considering moving to virgin, TV and broadband €50 a month for 2 years

Cancelled my Sky broadband due to notice of increase. Increasing by 3:50 from April. Used my right to cancel. Pure are doing an offer of 30pm for 12 months so happy to move & keep 30pm for another 12 months. When called sky to cancel they made no counter offer.

I will be calling them to cancel TV on the 16th March.

Left Sky a few years ago partly due to this. They can increase the contract every year by approx 3 euro for no real reason. Thats the best chance to get out of them and let them know. I dont think that used to be a thing many years ago, unless i'm mistaken(the subtle 2/3 euro increase?) Unless anyone can tell me differently and i just didn't notice.

Look their service they provide is the best, but the cost doesn't justify it. If they set the prices at a reasonable affordable offer id go back, but they wont.

I cancelled my Sky TV + Sports last December after 20+ years. Apart from "I see you're with us a very long time" the lady I spoke with just offered me a mediocre discount which I declined, so she just processed the cancellation. Didn't seem too pushed about retaining me at all.

I haven't heard any more from them since. I'm glad to be finally rid of them after much threatening to leave, tbh.

On behalf of my parents I was able to cancel their sky tv and sign up as a new customer in one of their stalls in shopping centre for sky basic tv plus broadband for €55 per month. Which isn't desperate, my parents need sky Q for recording and they can still do that package in stores so I took it.

Just be careful. My wife signed up a couple of years ago at one of the shopping centre stalls and the guy even give her a demo of how the recording worked. 2 days later the box arrived but it was a steaming box so no recording.

I did double check and thankfully it's Sky Q, there's even an engineer visit to install…

I'm paying €62 a month for TV, HD and multiroom.

The recording is vital to me.

Im on SkyQ Signature with kids package, had a 12 month discount to approx €35/mth running out end of March. Price going to €65 after that plus just noticed an email telling me that Signature package is going up by €5.90!!!😮 from April, don't think that's included in the 65!

I have fired up a satellite box I had bought a number of years ago for just this scenario, time to cancel!

But if they can match the last offer I will be tempted to stay as others have said it is a very good service just not worth the cost!!

Has anyone who cancelled recently got the usual text offering 40% off or have they stopped doing this? I just cancelled as the offer I was given is 30% higher than last year which was via the 40% off text discount.

I got the text today but when I click on it it says page can’t be found.

This after you cancelled? I was told €90 for TV (with Netflix) and broadband was lowest available after I said I was cancelling.

I was paying 38e for Sky Signature. I had let it slip out of contract since January and it had gone up to 50e.I got a letter today notifying me of a further increase of 5e.

I rang and they offered a 12 month contract at 50e.Said I was going to cancel then they offered me 31e a month, free upgrade to Sky Q (from old box) and covered the installation.

I thought that was pretty good so accepted.

    Till next year...!

Been a customer for 3 years - I pay 24 for Signature plus Netflix and 30 for broadband. Long story but rang to cancel , was completely mis-sold a renewal contract, complained and when they eventually listened to the recordings gave me a big discount

Under no illusions that they'll offer anything like that again when the current contract runs out. Pretty sure I will be cancelling and going back to Freesat which I had before

yes told them I was cancelling and they gave us a deal

Currently out of contract with my broadband provider, and thinking of moving back to sky broadband.

Just wondering, I currently have sky signature, with HD, and just got rid of the sports,, so if I sign up for the broadband, will they try and force me to extend my TV contract for another 12 months?

My TV contract is up in May.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,574 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Nope, Sky treats broadband and TV as completely separate contracts. You might get lucky at sign up and get a discount for both, but the fact you have tv now doesn't mean they'll force you to extend when getting BB (but worth asking if they'll do you a deal...)

And I presume you hardly want to share such a method?

I gather you had an initial set-up cost?

how do you make that out as i already said i do not use iptv

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

Well when you refuse to state your method it's hard to tell what it is.

You can steal the content without using IPTV.

I was with Sky from early noughties until 2013 , it was always a thing. they always increased by 2-3 euro every single year.

My first Sky box was a Panasonic SD box , Scart only.

    "Sky Q system."

Sky Q I find is rubbish and and backwards step compared to the Sky HD Box I used to have.

On the SKY HD box you could be watching something you had recorded and if you needed to talk a break or go toilet etc when you came back you just pressed play and it went straight back to the program you were watching on in record. With Sky Q if you go out of a program you were watching that you had recorded you have to gp back through the whole mene intomeither recorded or continue to continue watching the program and then there is the fact that you can not rewind a program that you are recording if you happen to get to watch it live. You could on the SKY HD box. Ye the HD box featuers were just so much better

    I miss my HD box.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
