Almost zero chance Finn wins, I reckon.

Most of us have seen his NJPW work. Man is one of the best in the world, but he has been booked nothing more than a tag wrestler for years.

Besides, ever since the creation of monthly ppvs in 1995, wwe has liked to book a "throw away" - for the lack of a better term - match for February shows. The mania main event is already locked in but you need someone your champ to work with.

Jade vs Rhea could be amazing

Like Belfast Finn will get close but he's not winning

    Jesus that fell flat

    Jade/Rhea definitely the best option.

Probably AJ Lee's best showing so far, I'm definitely more intrigued in how they pay off the Becky/Jessika Carr story though.

Punk/Balor was excellent. I just want Finn to have a proper title reign again, he's proven himself sure with this programme alone that he can deliver.

Very happy with myself, called Danhausen weeks back before there was even much in the way of rumours. Definitely Punk pulling strings to get his mate a job, fun presentation if you're a Danhausen fan but if you're not I'm not sure they did much except confuse people.

Heard the name but don't know much about the gimmick. Maybe NXT for a few months for him

I guess he owns the trademark

Well thats DanHausen dead on arrival. Sorry Dan.

Like, let's be honest here. All Dan could ever be is a Santino type character in the world of WWE - Not that there's anything wrong with that... Am sure Santino has a couple of million in the bank.

But building up a coffin reveal that people were thinking would involve the main event? … only to reveal a essentially a comedy character?

How many people even know who he is? Does his wwe debut warrant such a build up that would never pay off? Would it not make more sense to have him appear on a random raw without any bulid up and doing that random bit instead?

He might bounce back from it sure. But a really bad idea.

I'm surprised people thought it was anything but a comedy character tbh, it was a lad coming out of a box after having been in there for two weeks, of course it's gonna be something silly.

Danhausen was a big deal for a bit on the internet, I think his time in AEW cooled him off majorly but he seems to be quite big in the nerdy con circles and a big merch move so I could see him working in the long run.

He's not a very interesting wrestler though so I think leaning into spectacle and having him more involved in segments or even as some form of manager could work.

I think at the very least this was memorable and there's a lot of stuff to unpack with his character so the immediately play if off as confused by the announcers means they might at least be hoping people are intrigued enough to follow along.

Crowd was booing by the end, not sure if it was cause he wasn't Jericho (or someone else) or just for the segment itself though. It's a tough sell though. Even as a not big Danhausen fan, there wasn't much to get excited about from it.

I mean I wasn't patting myself on the back too hard. I said it straight after watching Smackdown and hadn't seen others say it when I did, not saying people hadn't but still chuffed with myself.

I love a good gimmick but the Danhausen reveal should not have been at Elimination Chamber.
    It’s NXT level stuff

I don't trust WWE to commit to the bit considering the Wyatt Sicks/MFT gang war is over a lantern.

I think Danhausen will be fine and credit it to WWE for debuting him on one of their biggest stages, with even some added pomp that no one would have guessed.

I feel he's an all or nothing type of talent, so having him on the main roster immediately makes sense to me. He's not a bloke that needs seasoning in NXT in order to hone what he's best at.

When people were guessing Danhausen, I was thinking why would they do a big reveal at a PLE for someone that only a niche crowd would care about. But I thought wrong.

Knew Finn would lose. Doesn't help when they kept referring to Punk/Roman as a dream match at Mania.

    Crooked Carr screwing Becky again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,713 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

I think most people with a knowledge and understanding for how WWE operate would have known Finn wasn't winning. A throwaway feud for the champion between Rumble and Mania since they introduced a PPV between them, going back 25 years at this point, is not shocking stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,751 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Yeah we knew he would lose but it didn't help that they kept on about the dream match. Just reinforcing the fact they have no intention of changing it.

Seth returning in the box would have been a better return for him than that Danhausen debut.

Danhausen, R-Truth, Mr Iguana and Joe Hendry all competing now to be the WWE Meme talent.

I think the men’s elimination chamber one of the worst in a long time , women’s match was very enjoyable and Finn took cm punk to the limit.

It’s definitely been a poor year in comparison to the previous two years for this mania

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,751 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

People were wondering what crazy thing Je'von would do in the chamber but sure what can you do with the limitations of the place? Just variations of jumping off a pod. Though who was it that climbed to the roof and did something from there?

When they were showing previous winners on the preshow, I didn't remember Theory winning it having a world title match at Mania. But turned out it was when the titles were unified.

what a complete waste of a reveal that turned out to be..

we dont need Danhausen on the main roster, at best he is a NXT mid carder.

i hope the crowds let it know over the coming weeks.. the boos were quite loud at the end of his walk to the ring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,270 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

A completely missable PLE. Nothing noteworthy happened until the last 10 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 555 ✭✭✭Petermc83

Abit like WarGames, the Elimination Chamber matches really have been overdone now.. i think they should bench these two PLEs and just have standard ones again, maybe have a tournament to decide the #1 contender for Mania instead of the chamber Match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,361 ✭✭✭Ridley

That's King of the Ring to Summerslam's schtick atm. Though I really wish they'd put the KotR tournament back over one night for the semi finals and finals at the very least. The competition is beating multiple opponents of different skill sets back to back. Doing it over several nights is every other tournament.

Though if you're reading this, Hunter: Tag match into one on one fight so paired rivals have to work together to get the change to thrown down with each other. Or tag match to open show, singles match to close it.

I disagree that Elimination Chamber has anywhere near worn out its welcome compared to War Games (but I've never really jived with WCW stipulations). I'd argue the issue is this last show being an undisguised holding patter to cover RR to WM.

i think The chamber should be brought out every 2-3 years.. having two matches a year really waters down the effect.

Theres only the same type of spots that can be done in it.. it wasnt a great spectacle this year by all accounts!

I think the constant outside interferences in Chamber matches is getting ridiculous. How long was the door open for to first let Rollins in, then Drew. Just stupidity really.

The man in the balaclava or the hoody is candy to a kid with the story writers in wwe , feel like i have seen it 20 times atleast in the last three years , worst probably was jimmy doing to screw J that time

Chamber matches haven't been interesting since it's 3rd or 3th use. Wrestlers are incredibly hamstrung by what they can and cannot do and in the days of minimal juicing, the cage presents little threat. Much like HIAC, it's completely stale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,291 ✭✭✭✭B.A._Baracus

I do hope DanHausen bounces back from that debut.

His character does have WWE written all over it. He showed that in his AEW run. Potential to sell millions in merch and be a new type of Santino level character. Someone that makes you laugh and kids love him type.

If played right, I can see a lot of kids wearing his face paint at shows (while mammy or daddy pays for the tshirt)

I was vaguely aware of him before but hadn't seen any of his work. Looked up his CVV interview and he comes across well. Is he any good in the ring?
