"Twelve chimneys will surround the ground" - a pity there's only room for 10 in that horrific picture! Madness.

It is definitely growing on me. At least it is an attempt to connect the stadium to the local area and history. The concern would be how we will fill the 62,000 capacity, as it over double the current capacity. We would fill a 40,000 stadium but a 62,000 stadium will require both Premier League and European football regularly. It is good though to have ambitious owners willing to invest in the club and the area after the last few years.

Maybe in the minority but I think that Birmingham stadium looks class

I like the idea of it, and the fact one of the towers is an observation deck bar.

I just don't think it looks good at all, at least it is not a generic bowl, but still don't rate it aesthetically.

Sheffield Wednesday have been docked another 6 points, putting them 23 points behind the team directly in front of them, Norwich.

Their former owner has been given a 3 year ban from being an owner again in the EPL.

Don't think any club with their head screwed on would be taking a chance on Chansiri.

I presume 3 years is the max, but it should be a life ban. You would hope he'd automatically fail any pre takeover test, but…

Big game on Saturday, Ipswich v Coventry.

I didn't see the Tractor Boys last night, but they looked bang average against Oxford on Friday night.

They were unlucky to lose 2-1, but never looked like winning the game. I'd say Coventry fear nobody at this stage. They just seem full of goals.

Charlton v Portsmouth abandoned after 12 mins due to a medical emergency in the crowd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭jacool

Saw that. Is it just me, or all the coverage, that we hear more of these, I wonder. Or are fans getting less fit? Can't recall such delays in the past.

English football has a massive problem with middle-aged men taking coke going to matches.

A real Christmas cracker of a game in Wrexham, 3-1 down, win 5-3

There are some great videos around from the Charlton end as Portsmouth got a winner from the kickoff after Charlton equalised on 96 mins.

Leicester docked six points for financial breaches.

Only goal difference now keeping them out of relegation spots.

A lot of predictions beforehand that it would be a minimum of 9 points deducted, so only 6 points looks like they have been lucky. Should be able to steer clear of the relegation zone with the squad they have as long as they get the managerial appointment right.

Leicester City with one of the biggest collapses I’ve ever seen last night. 3-0 up after 60 minutes and lose 4-3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭jacool

Blackburn will be delighted. Two former Premier League champions battling, badly, to avoid League 1.

Looking like the playoffs are to be expanded with 6 teams taking part with 3rd and 4th getting a bye to the Semi.

I like the top voted comment on that article

"I would expand the play offs to include all the teams in the league, who must play each other twice, home and away, over the course of 42 games. Wins equal three points, draws a point apiece, no points for a defeat. After 42 games, the top three are declared the playoff winners and promoted. The bottom three are relegated to a lower tier playoff, or “division” "

The teams will clearly vote for this, only a majority needed, but I would be looking at a team in 8th in the Championship

and how they would "survive" in the EPL, if they got lucky in the play-offs!

Sheffield Wednesday heading down today, currently 2-0 down in the Steel city derby.

A cracking Steel derby with United taking the bragging rights with a 2-1 win.

A Red card a piece, a plethora of yellows, Wednesday relegated, first time United have done 4 in a row against their neighbours since the 50's.

Top 8 in the playoffs still wouldn't be enough for Preston and Bristol City

Neil Warnock back as caretaker at Torquay. He's been football advisor there for the last 2 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,546 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

Not a huge fan of Warnock but he clearly loves football, 77 and managing a team again (even if it's only very short term).

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭jacool

33 years on from when he last managed Torquay!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭jacool

Neil Warnock, at 77, has just been "bested" by Roy Hodgson, 78, who has taken over at Bristol City.

Furthermore, he has also outdone Neil's 33 year gap going back to a club, by 11 years, as he previously managed The Robins in 1982!

    Wow, they're addicted!

Middlesbrough Millwall this weekend is a must not lose game. Relatively tough weekend for Coventry with Derby and Hull and Ipswich get another game in hand.

I'll go...Coventry and Ipswich to go up with Southampton and Portsmouth and Oxford to join Wednesday in league one.
