    Hi all,

I have a couple of questions. I realise that you need a restricted license for NV etc but does that mean a monitored alarm etc and all that goes woth said licence.

Alos, I am blind in my right eye and aim with my left always. Success full enough with the clays but with getting a new rifle what are my options? Learn to shoot left handed?

Yes, it is a restricted firearm under the law so the restricted firearm security applies.

On the latter query, either get a high riser to allow you to shoot right handed but left eyed, or learn to shoot left handed and get a left handed gun.

Never forget, the end goal is zero firearms of any type.

S.I. No. 187/1972 - Firearms (Temporary Custody) Order - Firearms seized

S.I. No. 21/2008 - Firearms (Restricted Firearms and Ammunition) Order 2008 - Firearm types restricted

Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 - Firearms banned & grandfathered

S.I. No. 420/2019 - Magazine ban, ammo storage & transport restricted

Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2023 - 2023 Firearm Ban (retroactive to 8 years prior)

Best is to learn to shoot left handed. Won't be hard. And not many left handed rifles to be got.

I started off with a decent enough DIY add on, rear mounted set up. Very small IR camera fixed in white waste pipe, pushed into silicone exhaust tubing, pushed onto the rear of my scope. 4" LED screen on top, with small 12volt battery pack on the stock. Used with a good IR torch fixed to side front of the stock. It worked well but had to look at the screen to take a shot. I think I still have a camera here. 🤔

Next was a PARD 008 day, night scope. Again with a very good IR torch. Great bit of kit. Easy to shoot a fox at 200y. The add on PARD 007 gets good reviews.

This was all before a restricted license was needed.

Now I'm using a PARD Night Stalker 4K, day and night scope with a restricted license. It does everything you could need. Look it up. Fantastic bit of kit.

BUT the CS made conditions on the licence that are the same as a restricted firearm. E.G. Must taken off my firearm and stored in a safe with monitored alarm. Locked in metal case, detached from the rifle, secured to anchor point in car when transported. Can't be left unattended. Utter bullsh!t.

I'm liking the new thermal add on the front of your scope from Nopix, the Mate series. Expensive.

    My DIY add on.

Well lad, just on the point of shooting with your left eye, im in the same position as yourself, lazy right eye and have to shoot left handed but still being right handed.

When I first started shooting rifles I used a right handed one but once I found a left hand rifle for sale I went with it and it's a game changer.

It's a little weird at first but honestly after a little bit of time racking the bolt on the couch it's second nature to me.

I would go with a left hand rifle if I was you but they are harder to find is the only downside but a few shops have them, just gotta ring around.

    Hope this helps
