Joke away. You're just embarrassing yourself. You haven't written a single sensible reply.

    Anyway, I'm done.

What do you want from Bohs fans? A warm welcome, nice cup of tea and a slice of cake?

Ranting here about security for the team and staff, what the hell has that got to do with ordinary Bohs fans? If Rovers were unhappy with it, I have no doubt that they will take it up with the Bohs board and the Gardai.

A cup of tea. A slice of cake.

You must be one of the fat, pissed Temu casuals that your club thinks is OK to let manhandle visting players and staff who can't do anything back.

I get that derby wins are very important to your board to deflect internal dissent in the membership with a lack of trophies and football being a subsidiary wing of Lambert PLC these days, but you have to run match days professionally, you know, like a match as opposed to one of your community drum workshops.

New levels of saltiness here today, almost 24 hours after the match! Sounds like someone is worried 😂

I take it for granted that we lose at Dalymount these days tbf. We just can't seem to rise to it at the moment.

I guess five league titles in six years, a double, European group stages and running the best academy in the country makes us take our eye of the ball re: the more serious bizness of beating Bohs.

I thought you were done? You've said it twice now.

I didn't give you a "sensible" response, because I felt it didn't deserve one, maybe the use of the term "trendy scruffs" isn't wise if you are looking for such (at least we are trendy, the the scruff bit is a bit much, I suppose The Northside isn't the most salubrious part of our city…)

I was somewhat confused at the your original post and then the vague "you must not know what really happened" had me even more confused. Normally if anything of even the tiniest consequence happens around the Dublin Derby, the social media Mother Theresa are straight to their keyboards with their cacks around their ankles, yet there has been absolutely no noise about anything that happened post match. I'm amazed even more so at the "internal dissent" comment when the loudest voice against the current board got 4 votes at the last AGM.

I'm always fascinated when people are willing to put into writing something which is just utterly utterly wrong, demonstrably ignorant and easily debunked.

I will indulge you however, because I'm pretty sure I can list the gripes that Rovers have had in Dalymount the last number of years and indeed the concessions that Bohs have made on the back of it (something which actually does annoy Bohs fans). These are all separate "incidents" btw and happened over the course of a number of matches.

"The away dressing room is too small" - We closed the Jameson Bar (to the detriment of our own players/officials and sponsors) and allowed Rovers to use that (post Covid FYI, the Jameson Bar was used as the away dressing room during Covid anyway).

"There's no hot water in the showers" - Apologies for that, you can use the home showers no issue, even if it means our own lads miss out.

"We are getting too much abuse walking out onto the pitch" - Section A closed off and screens put up so you couldn't see the Rovers players walking to and from the dressing room from the stand (did you ever hear the likes!)

"Our officials/coaches don't feel comfortable in the Jodi" - Someone in a Rovers tracksuit standing in Section A during the derby is told to **** off? Ok just stand on the old tramway on the far side.

"There's no shelter in the tramway" - Ok, we'll allow you to use the little dugout the fans paid for so our youth team had somewhere to watch the game (the Bohs youth team will just have to find their own seats).

"The little dugout is too close to the Bohs fans, the abuse we're getting is not acceptable" - Ok, you can go into the Mono Stand if you want - "we don't want to be with our own fans" - We're kind of running out of options here for all these "coaches" who spend the whole match with their hands in their pockets.

There is also one common denominator after everyone of these "issues", Rovers lost. Maybe if there was hot water that lad might have jumped a bit higher and stopped Ross Tierney getting the ball.

Having to walk to the bus (I'll admit having to essentially through the smoking area of the Member's bar to get there is not ideal) is just the latest in a litany of complaints. Cake, tea and red carpet next time maybe.

You follow the wrong sport, if you lose a derby, you take your medicine and if you can't maybe take a couple of days off social media

Fair enough for answering with an actual post.

Nobody cares about players being abused per se. Ditto the drawbacks of Dalymount as a venue.

    And I'm over the result.

Getting beaten in Dalymount certainly hasn't held us back in recent years.

Maybe Reynolds might suggest to play every game like that and you might actually win something.

I think we both know that the current match arrangements that are deliberately borderline to influence the game can't go on any longer despite your deflection.

    And I've a feeling they won't.

Youre right about coming back for more and I will leave it at this for now.

I'll continue laughing at the idea that purposely making the away team and staff at the most fractious fixture in the league walk through the fcuking members bar after the game 'isn't ideal'.

Thank fcuk that one is here for posterity.

Harsh loss for us there. Defended brilliantly all night, had a couple of decent chances too and largely kept Pats to half chances and shots from range. Super hit from Leavy to win it, he always plays well against us.

Wouldn't say it was a harsh loss. We dominated that match and the winner is what we deserved. Galway played their typical game and it'll get them enough to stay up.

6 points out of 6 this weekend and two clean sheets. Not a bad weekend.

It was harsh. Even your commentators agreed that we were never under too much pressure. Ye didn't create much all night but the quality off the bench helped ye. We didn't do anything near enough to win but did enough to draw. Is what it is.

Ye did defend well, I'll give you that, but we were the better team. Didn't look like a winner was coming, but it was a nice move and super finish from Leavy (who was superb again.) We shipped a couple of knocks, which might be worry for Friday and Tolka.

Lennon went off with a hamstring looking injury and Forrester got a bang on the foot and was hobbling for the last 10.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,482 ✭✭✭trashcan

Sean Hoare also went off (though I have a bit of a downer on him, so that a might not be a bad thing 😁).

On the positive side we got Keena on the pitch again, and Max Mata too, who looked useful.

I see rovers have an official watch brand now. Christophe Duchamp. Wouldn't have the best reputation.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 12,408 Mod ✭✭✭✭artanevilla

From a "watch" point of view, my opinion would be they're just overpriced fashion watches. I don't think anyone who's "into" watches would go near them. But that's irrelevant really.

But if they're willing to pay Shamrock Rovers money, I suppose the club can't turn that down. Not like Patek are waiting at the door.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,924 ✭✭✭Hodors Appletart

Jesus, who cares. Man United have "official noodle partners" ffs, so what if Shams have a shite watch sponsor. More power to them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,066 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Don't think it's a reputation thing per se. More so that they're just Chinese tat watches at stupid markups and then made to look like they're reduced to a really good price. Saw over on Reddit someone showing the exact same thing on Temu for 20 quid.

Probably not great looks for Rovers coming on the back of the gambling sponsor too.

Maybe it's why they kick off 15 mins later than everyone else on a Friday, because their watches are slow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,066 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Take it up with the club I guess. Maybe we could get a rain and wind sponsor for the early months of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,636 ✭✭✭topmanamillion

They're a scam and predatory towards people who might fall for buzz words like "luxury brand" and "Swiss made". Giving 85% discounts for Shams fans on watches priced at 2 grand tells you everything you need to know. This and the betting crowd lately is a poor look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,070 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    85% off.

Like those ones you see on the shopping channels claiming fake rrp of 1500.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,663 ✭✭✭Patrick2010

I could be wrong but I don't believe Rovers fans are obliged to buy them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,636 ✭✭✭topmanamillion

Shams are being paid to peddle cheap tack to their own supporters and pushing the "85% discount" scam. It's an incredibly poor look to gouge your own fans for a scam company selling Temu watches.

It's part of the professionalising of football here where we are sadly following the English model rather than the German one.

The likes of Shams are no longer staffed by volunteers/fans. They have professionals with no historical ties to the club just doing a job, and their job doesn't include worrying about fan opinion. That's how you end up with a gambling sponsor presented as a "responsibility partner" and the "luxury" AliExpress watches.

When they post about it on their LinkedIn they won't mention any backlash from fans on social media because they don't care and it doesn't matter. It'll just say "Responsible for adding over €100,000 in commercial income" or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,818 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Did have a chuckle when I refreshed my LOI list on twitter earlier and back to back tweets were Dundalk calling their newly fixed pitch world class followed by Shams and the luxury watches.

I think Shels are in the process of putting down the same pitch Dundalk use for matches at their training ground. Don't think we'll see it at Tolka anytime soon though.

can you explain how Rovers fans are being gouged? I’m a rovers season ticket holder,it doesn’t cost me a single euro more that Rovers have taken on a sponsorship willing to put money into the club
