I refuse to get excited by this. I need to see Shane close one out.

It's 6.45pm Irish time. 1.45pm is the local time.

It would be great to get the monkey off his back this week. However, it is tight at the top and all it takes is for one player to have a great day and it's out of your control. He'll probably need to shoot 66 or 67 to win?

Yeah those in and around the lead have the potential to shoot low around PGA National. I'd say a 66 could do it. This is exactly the position he'd have wanted to be in coming into this week (and season). Would love to see him close it out today.

He's landed himself in prime position for Sunday on plenty of occasions as we know all too well. Long overdue a bit of luck to get the win and he might just do it on a course that suits his eye.

Thered be zero excitement in sport if you knew the result beforehand.

It'd be great if he could close it out. The longer he goes without winning the harder it becomes.

If he does manage to get across the line, another win might not be far behind.

He knows he’s favourite today. I think if he gets across the line another win won’t be far behind. Just needs to keep the emotions in tack and try and not remember recent close one

Yes, it was played early due to forecasted lightning storms. After Shane finished his round, there were just a few golfers left out on the course with 2 or 3 holes left to play, and they showed the lightning storms on a live satellite feed and they were around 30 miles away at that point and approaching. The commentators were saying if the golfers get a move on, they'll finish just in time. So they timed it well.

Not good 2nd and 3rd shots from Shane on the 1st, in danger of making a bogey. Smotherman has made par.

Lowry makes par from around 12 feet. That was crucial, I feel, even this early.

Great par putt on the first to save par.

Just needs a bird to settle everything

Very static start. Think he'll need 5 under to win

He can’t afford another one of these final rounds of terrible tentative putting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,555 ✭✭✭PokeHerKing

    Leaving them short unfortunately.

Lucky very few are on fire yet, gives him time to tune in on the putter.

Shane needed that. 6 players in contention

Silly commentator on Sky esaying that was Shane's 3rd shot. It was his 2nd. Said it went in the water, then said no, they found it after searching for ages. The American cameras and commentators found it straight away.

It's brutal that they have to wait so long to take their tee shots.

Oh he stole a par there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Trampas

Things like this be like give him the title but other way he can’t keep playing like this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,029 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I tell you what, that's some par save on 6 from Shane, after scrambling from tee to hole and leaving a really long putt.
