    I don't think so.

They will bottle it as usual.

I saw at least 12 incidents in the Arsenal-Chelsea game that were all more severe than the one that saw Man Utd awarded a penalty earlier today. If its a penalty at one ground, then its the same everywhere. The inconsistency is the problem.

If I was Glasner, I'd lose the plot if I'd watched that game just now.

That last breakaway showed Delaps limitations. He doesn't have much pace but he probably should have seen the pass across. After that he fluffed the second phase and gave away a foul.

I think Arsenal would adapt to rule changes. It's not their only trick, it's just one that makes sense to do right now, something that Liverpool have only just discovered in the past few weeks. Arsenal had a top quality set piece coach working on it for years now and they've recruited excellently.

Hopefully they push on to win it from here and lose in the FA cup and Champions League!

Two good results from Arsenal after the Wolves setback. Only saw the last 10 mins and it was frantic enough. Delap had a great chance to square a ball but didn’t look up. He looks like a championship player. Just another thing that’s getting out of hand, it took Raya 54 seconds to take his last kick out in added time. That type of stuff has to be clamped down on.

Amorim playing him in a 2 man midfield was absolutely bizarre

He is exceptional when he gets going, but he was anonymous in the 1st half today.

A restart clock is what's required, but they won't do that. They'll make a point of penalising slow restarts for a few weeks and then forget about.

Robbed him of 18 months. Personally delighted!

But an unreal number 10 right now.

    Will Tottenham go down ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,906 ✭✭✭doc_17

Yeah, all the keepers follow the same playbook - they walk to the far side of the nets to give out to someone on a performative manner, then they go for the ball. Walk back, clear their studs off the post, and then watch the ref and when it looks like he’s about to do something, they kick it! Or they bring the centre backs in and pretend that they are going short, before waving them up the field. The rules should allow attacking players inside the box if there are defenders inside for kickouts.

Pretty funny reading the comments about the Palace red. Considering that's the rule and has been for a long time.

Otherwise a defender could start to challenge an attacking player and take him down in the penalty area pointing to the fact that he started his offence outside the box.

It's a penalty and a sending off all day

Probably not - only because West Ham or Nottingham Forest are worse.

It's going to come down entirely to if West Ham can win enough games really

Spurs don't look like getting out of this form anytime soon.

West Ham on 25 now with 10 to play. If they get to 35 or above they'll stay up imo

I wish he could pick up one of the big trophies at Utd before be goes but it looks pretty unlikely unfortunately

He played as a 10 under Amorim of the first season, he is having a great season this one and That's all season most of which was played as a 10, he is producing more since his move back to 10 but is having much quieter games, his stint in midfield seems to have rounded him out as a player, much better discipline and has cut out a lot of the stupid stuff he used to do, he has elevated himself this season and has shown to be influence and a threat in midfield or has fantastic output at 10

Next season might be too soon for Bruno and Utd to win the league, think they need to sort out both full back positions, a top drawer centre half and replace Casemiro with someone like Casemiro 2016. Depends on the finances available to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,539 ✭✭✭✭rob316

I mean you don't even know who the manager will be and how he starts. Their recruitment is getting better but they are miles off winning the league. I wouldn't read too much into this late season form under carrick, it's shows this group can perform but under a full season it's unproven.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,878 ✭✭✭✭8-10

How many seasons does Bruno have left at United? It's only 1 more season on his contract right? His wage demands will likely be big to extend beyond though given world events right now Saudi and Qatar might lose their appeal a bit

Attack won’t be their problem, it will be their defence and central midfield. It’s unreal though how Amorin held them back. Like, what was he thinking playing a struggling Casemiro and Bruno as part of a midfield 2…

True. Next season would be the real test. We've been here before with Ole.

Watching Arsenal v Chelsea on MOTD. Maybe I shouldn't judge a game based solely on highlights but it looks like another cornerfest. The melee in the 6 yard box isn't exactly the beautiful game, but I suppose Arsenal won't mind if they finally get a title out of it. I preferred the style of football they played 2-3 years ago though.

United have 6 wins and 1 draw out of his 7 games in charge and United fans are quite rightly still unsure if Carrick is the right option for the long term. They will quite rightly note some of the things they think he might be doing wrong or that could be red flags.

Its quite the contrast to Amorim being completely absolved from having to meet any standards whatsoever.

What we are seeing now is simply United reverting to the mean. Ten Hag, Ole, Jose, Van Gaal, even Rangnick, all of them had United finishing top 6 or higher despite all the Glazier/Woodward mismanagement, because thats the level United were always at. Nowhere near to winning titles, but also not a goddamn bottom of the table side. All the interim manager had to do was the basics and they are right back up there again.

Why some United fans convinced themselves that Amorims nonsense was acceptable is difficult to explain.

I find the Liverpool fans commenting on the Arsenal corners yesterday amusing while they totally ignore the fact that they went 3-0.up on Saturday from 3 corners

Let them comment all they like. Only City have scored more from open play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭jacool

    Yes quite.

They need to improve that success rate from their feeble 60% to the Arsenal gold standard of 100%, as shown yesterday.

This wrestling that passes for soccer is embarrassing. Arsenal won't care, they are innit to winnit but for the EPL and the FA, who are selling an entertainment product, they have to tackle this. It was comical on Sunday, a particularly bad example, but it's becoming more and more common and it's no craic watching it. Pinball around the 6 yard box isn't entertainment in my view anyway.
